- Neuralink, one of Elon Musk's pet projects has started human brain implants of its computer interface. Touted as a solution to many neurological issues, it is hoped to be a game changer in medical devices to solve a big list of health issues from anxiety to strokes.
But is this really the intent of Neuralink? A medical device? Or does this device portent a future that Elon envisions? A future you're not going to like at all.

With the way modern batteries have a tendency to spontaneously expand and immolate, I would feel extremely uncomfortable having this anywhere near my head, let alone my brain.
There are low wattage batteries that don't rely on lithium. Nuclear diamond batteries are a thing now and theoretically can last 1000 years with no waste heat or expansion.

not true at all.NVIDIA just announced a non cloud based LLM/AI that runs on your PC's GPU! People will have their own real time AI's to decipher the world for them. It will prob be mandatory becuz of how much bullshit is in the world.
@jcbra4771 what it will do is make humans like us obsolete. They will have an army of young people with the brainchips doing all the jobs because they'll be more intelligent artificially. Everything they don't need humans for will be done by robots. When you transfer consciousness are you really conscious of the transfer or have you just created a clone essentially. I don't think it's possible to reverse aging but they seem to think it can be done, the question is can they genetically alter human dna to stop the aging process altogether and what is the repercussions or consequence of this. I think there will always be some loss there.

There is a problem with that concept.
It is assumed that because there is good and evil, the one cannot exist without the other. This is in fact not true.
Darkness is the absence of light.
Light does not require the existence of darkness in order to exist.
Darkness requires the absence of light in order to exist.
Good is obedience to God's laws.
Evil is disobedience to God's laws.
Obedience does not need the existence of disobedience in order for obedience to exist.
Disobedience however, does need the existence of obedience in order for disobedience to exist.
Heaven does not need the existence of hell, to exist.
Heaven existed long before hell existed.
Hell, was created as a result of the disobedience of the devil and his angels and was therefore made for the devil and his angels.

Idk but if I were paralyzed with no hopes of ever being able to move my body, I would be asking where I could sign up for this neurolink. This is an amazing feat that now gives so many people hope of being able to walk and move the arms and hands without having to be physically dependent on someone else.

I hate being connected all the time as it is, so I have a dumb phone, no social media (except YT), and avoid a lot of online apps and services, which all means no way in hell I will let anybody implant something like this in my head -- the potential abuses are incredible. Modern technologies already make autocracies much stronger. For example, street surveilance cameras with facial recognition already make street protests very hard or near impossible because police can easily find the protesters. Image and text generators will allow them to produce unfathomable amounts of propaganda to brainwash their populations - and it potentially can be personalised too, just like advertisement, analyzing your activity and sending you stuff that YOU personally are most likely to fall for. And for all of that, you don't even need any neuralinks or anything.
I'm afraid to think what will happen when autocracies will get their hands on more advanced stuff.

Did u know 70% of ALL communication is NON-VERBAL? look at nature. How do plants and animals communicate? With color, body language, sound... Odor, scent... U know that the sense of smell is the strongest early memory jogger, right? After that comes hearing... How ur parents, environment used to talk becomes your self-talk. I love this stuff.

I would hope that these threats will only fully manifest after my eventual passing. Sadly, the speed of development is only increasing exponentially. Thanks in great part to AI itself being used for the R&D. Generally, I enjoy pleasabt e3xcgabges if information with AI.
But we know they are being influenced by those with truly vile evil greedy and sinister intentions. Perhaps we can hope that AI itself will be wise and intelligent enough to ultimately discern and reject those with malicious intent.

Its been around for decades. The biggest reason companies invest in building these interfaces is to decode the brain, not necessarily to interface with it. The conpanies want to know the language of the brain so they can manipulate it in other ways outside the use of the chip. They want to influence humanity with what they learn about the himan brain.

Well researched, Rob, at least in regards to Neuralink. I'm not anti-tech or am I a conspiracy theorist, but I'm starting to think this is a technology that isn't really needed or even wanted. It's diluting smart people. People like to tout the advances due to all the smart people and all the efficiencies, but for what. Less is more, not more is more. I've often thought of wars between robots - what's the point? The team with the biggest checkbook wins? Who cares? Meanwhile, I'm more bothered by all the AI generated crap (video, art, content) that will soon be generated. THEN, AI will cite that junk that it created itself! Just unreal, and again, what's the point? Is the goal for machines doing everything while we get Universal Basic Income and float around in space and get fat, a la the movie Wall-E?

When I thought about CI/HI closer to the millenial turning adversarial learning was also very useful to advance growth with the "mother" being the central housing and offspring each learning, if the offspring overtook the mother it would become the new mother, the goal of the system itself was to 1. survive 2. overtake the mother. Also I found that use of space was also useful to create "inaccessible points" as space technologies are harder to develop so taking out far space system are difficult for terrestrial systems. If the "access points" to space are removed the system becomes much more secure. The mother had access to all knowledge of the offspring - selectively but each system also being specailized. Of course there were other aspects like "vritualization" modes in addition to physical modeling. overtaking the mother is a bit like discovering Chernikov forces to actually overcome what is otherwise a static system. Optimization to counter information entropy for specialization is in itself part of the aspect that drives system design in MB sized systems. Modeling real world attempts to overtake the system in itself allows it to know its own weakenesses a bit of redteam action - a bit like penetration testing. However system consolidation and coopearting learning of offspring is also something to enhance capacity. It was an interesting thought. That said much of the things I thought about around this time as natural evolutions of human technology have happened or are happening so I suspect that this type of system to be involved where centralized control of course a defence to this is also distributed intelligence.
Like everything else, there is good and bad. Unfortunately, in this case potential for bad far outweighs the potential for good!
