Lol, I think he meant OJ Simpson’s glove 🤣
That finally makes sense 😂😂 I secretly googled 'Michael Jackson glove doesn't fit', nothing came up and I just shrugged it off

Dude my CBCSO install made the CBXR installs seem STUPIDLY EASY by comparison haha. It took me more time getting the battery to fit than to build my entire vesc
Watching this gave me flashbacks to my (chipped) CBXR install, you guys are true warriors for doing this haha. Hope the wrist is better dude!
super saiyan macgyver mod activated hahah yea it was a challenge cramming everything in. but knowing now how much beef the stock box has in that angled corner makes it a bit easier for future mod projects.
When is your vesc build video gonna drop wren?!
THIS is the future of Onewheeling in my opinion. I’ve been waiting for this, and the test ride video. Thanks for showing what can be done.
thx for the support. we're living in this future world now.. insane how far we've come!!
Looks great and frankly you're doing what fm won't, this is amazing
Great video, you have convinced me to get a onewheel+ XR, and when that breaks go this route of upgrading the VESC & Battery.
glad it helped. VESC with the right battery will be better than GT any day!
Can't wait to see you put this board to the test! Thanks for for the video!
much love! already workin on some some chair and underground racing footy :)
Badger wheel has their “Torque Box” battery box that’s bigger and fits their “Torque Bumper”. I think THAT set up would be dope with the 84volt battery IMO.
Yep the torq box does fit the cbcso quite nicely! But the addtl cost of the box + bumper adds up.. Wanted to show some more economical ways to fit this battery 🤙🏻
But then no BANGS = sad
$350.00 Badgerwheel Torque Battery Box and Bumper versus $115 for 3D Printed Box and hardware (lid/gasket)...
This is exact build I got yesterday. Still waiting for charger. Igor from TOR build it for me, I got his badger bumpers.
Thanks for the great video. I can't wait for the test!!
Good work, love to see the modding community come to life with onewheels and VESC builds
thanks man. crazy how far we've come!
Pushing the bounds! LOVE IT!
lets unleash the beast :)
excited to see a speed comparison between this and a GT
So far this has hit 31mph in a speed competition on pavement while gt hit 27mph. Will upload some vid soon
Sick build mate! Looking forward to seeing some footage of maxx and the beast. Keep shredding 🤙🔥
much love bro! workin on some chair racing and trail racing footage >:)
Looks amazing man, nice work. That mallet work. 🧙♂ Savage insanity bro. Not sure I would want to compromise the integrity of the stock box that much as was mentioned, but I'm a bit overly cautious- please do keep us updated on its durability! Will be going VESC on mine at some point. FFM! Thanks for showin' us.
appreciate the support! mallet is most underrated tool ever lol. Some integrity was compromised, but you'd be surprised how much beef is in that angled section of the stock box. Could've went deeper! Took it apart after a month of hard trail riding and everything looks fine. Hope you can try a vesc one day :)
@@MaxxSend Hell yeah bro! Great news! Just a matter of time, I'll get at it.
Love that you guys are doing these build series to show folks what’s possible with diy vesc set up. That said, I’ve built a bunch of esk8s and esk8 batteries…you guys are taking a big risk by forcing a lithium ion battery into the battery box like that. With all the vibration onewheels endure, it only takes one broken spot weld or overly compressed balance wire to turn these things into a torch.
thanks for the support! fair point on the battery set-up. Unfortunately in the ow world to do extended battery options using stock box it's always going to be a tight fit due to the box itself, bumper design etc. But there's enough padding in the lid to offer some shock protection, and enough dremeling on the sides of the battery box to make space. Also the packs are designed to have compression flex using unreasonable amounts of pressure. The best options are to use a 3D printed box or a Torq box for a true drop in solution.
soooo awesome bro. also very enjoyable + informative to watch start to finish. I need this... around how much should i save up to invest in VESC setup like this if I'm starting from nothing?
YAAAAAAAAASS!
Going to ride the GT till it breaks, not sending it back to SlowMotion. Just replace the controller, by the way does the controller came programmed with vesc firmware ready to go?
Yep just replace the xr controller, decide your battery/bms set up and good to go! There is pre-loaded firmware with some nice basic settings, and you can also upload the latest tune cards from pev.dev (including my trail settings) and/or try your own.
Hell yeah :)
let's effin go!
Abu love to have One odos
Suh mash powah
So exciting Max
Thanks for showing us this build
How are you digging the digital shaping of the little FOCer?
you're welcome! loving my trail settings, no more nose dippings nor lifting, so much power and it has hit 31mph. I have my settings published here to download: pev.dev/t/madd-max-84v-trail-beast-tune-card/106
@@MaxxSend 🔥🔥🔥 someday I’ll get on the VESC train. Thanks for raising awareness🙏

Hey man, I know this question depends on many factors, but what range are you getting with this pack? I trail ride, but say on a flat easy ride. Just so I can compare to the gt range and go from there. Trying to decide which pack to go for with my xr?
If I understand well with 84v you get more torque but you sacrify range, is that correct? How much range do you get from your new machine then? thx
😂that’s probably the 4212 and BMS I just bought.
I think it is 😄 well now it's being put to use instead of sitting on the shelf!
I haven't really thought about tinkering with this yet but my GT is my go to board because of the power. My XR sits there but is a a lot of fun to ride on trails with its 5.5 on it. So can I just get the little focer and controller box and use my stock battery until I can get a bigger one.
gt definitely has a bit more power than a stock xr, 72V vs 63V. Even with a stock battery in a vesc you're gonna get more torque than gt since it allows for more amps. You should check out the hill climb vids vs gt on my channel! pretty mind blowing how much power vesc can put out..
I can’t wait to build my vesc…Savin up after buying an overpriced bms. Waterproof your electronics and Use conformal coatings on your circuit boards!
hell yea, stoked for you to try the vesc feel and join someday!
Sick build. How much was that build minus the motor
thanks! Used all existing XR parts, excluding: lil focer VESC controller $700, standard polarity harness $50, CBCSO 84V battery w/5ah charger $650. Can then sell fm controller for ~$400. Check here for when controller back in stock: www.makerspev.com/collections/bundles?aff=3
I'm looking at building one of these from scratch (I don't have an XR to start on) so looks pretty achievable if I can get my hands on a motor.
What's the craic though with the BMS? Do you/should you have one with a VESC or with the CBCSO and the specific charger does that have its own BMS? Any advice would help dude 🤟
If you have xr parts then it's very much plug n play! Swap out the fm controller with a makerspev lil focer controller and you can use the rest of fm parts including the bms. However the active balancing bms is still the last remaining weakness of vesc that the engineers are working on. You can use the fm bms with the balancing function but you'll only get 1/3 of the full power from vesc (still equivalent to stock fm power output). It's advisable to have some sort of bms, there are a few passive bms options such as xlite, ennoid, daly. If you run without bms, then u should remove ur battery and balance it every few weeks or even more frequently to be safe. Check out pev.dev for the latest vesc updates, or the vesc builders fb group. Link above in description to get your vesc 'lil focer' controller 👆🏻
I would have used a power file for a lot of those stock battery case mods.
that would've been nice for smoothing things out! We just had the multi-tool and dremel and it worked quite well.
anyone else notice the link for the cbsco no longer works? are they just out of stock or not re stocking these?
3d prints are rarely waterproof; water resistant at very, very, very most. Unless they've been coated afterwards, or otherwise finished (ABS can be acetone finished and _can_ yield a highly water-resistant surface)
What BMS do you recommend if experimenting with converting an XR to VESC using the CBXR Battery? The CBCSO P28A 72V 6Ah 432Wh battery is currently sold out, is this ChiBatteries CBCSO 84V?
I'm not too well versed on bms options, check out pev.dev site for all vesc knowledge. The cbcso is rated 72v nominal but 84v max, same battery but unfortunately sold out for now.
Does their battery come with its own Bms?
what kinda range do you get with this setup? I want to do this to my XR, I have the cbxr now, but I want more power to go with the range
this is meant for a speed pack, and range is better defined by watt hours. with about 403wh, I get around 12-15 trail miles. this one is discontinued, here's the same one from Mario at board garage: theboardgarage.com/store/p/20s2p-custom-battery-for-vesc-onewheel-builds-conversions
How come you didn't choose to go with the torque box from badger with the back badger bumper specifically for the extra birthyness of that bad boy
back then the torq box still had 1 prototype, and I wanted to show an economical way of upgrading to 84V. People already complaining how much more all the mods cost lol you'd have to buy torq box + bumper for a few hundred more. but you're right torq box is way less hassle and a drop in solution!
Chi batteries doesn't have this battery for sale on their website anymore what happened did they discontinue it
its been discontinued, the bms pairing was harder than expected.. you can now get a Z bms + 20s 84V battery from theboardgarage.com
So bang bumpers still fit on the 3D printed box?
great question! we didn't see if a bang could fit. I asked Phillip and he said while the design of the box has been modified to make bumpers fit, you may still have to do some shaving.
How much are all the parts, I want to get this setup eventually.
if using your existing xr parts, then all you need is MakersPEV controller $700, CBSCO ~$600, 5A charger $100. Sell your stock fm controller and bms for ~$700. links in description
What motor did you use?
Stock motor. Next is the fungineers 2000w motor..
What is the range like?
16 psi Enduro with a 200lbs rider on the street 18 miles
I'm 185lb and get around 14-18 miles on techy trails. I don't really ride street too long so haven't measured 😅
How much does it weigh?
Less than a gt for sure, around 28lbs
Is CBCSO deprecated?
you mean discontinued? yes. check out theboardgarage.com/store for more vesc battery options
That stock box is going to disintegrate as soon as you crush down with it on a curb.
Especially with such a high voltage battery just seems like you're asking for it.
haha definitely voids the warranty even more! you'd be surprised how much beef is in that bottom angled section, we could've dug even more.. The case is surrounded by the rails, bumper and footpad so not super concerned. Been riding hard on trails with this for the last month, took it apart to inspect and looks fine. This diy solution isn't for everyone, so consider the 3d printed box or the TORQ box.
$3k but no lights?
Where did you get the $3k figure from? Lol Controller is $700.. It can support lights but need to install one more component. Honestly it's not a big deal if you use a flashlight. Pros far outweigh this small con.
Ehh yes but also
Point able flood/spot handheld/headlamp vs low dimmer board lights
Sure they would be N🧊 but not the end of the world. Especially when the ride of a vesc is the way it is

oof that's a nasty cable/wire install. Those kinks in the cable will cause problems later. And thats not a super great lid install; going to cause mad vibration wearing on everything touching the box and/or lid. never compress your battery to install it. And leaving all that extra battery cable is going to yield nasty voltage sag.
