@Captain Caveman Easy fella! I wouldn't go that far! FF7 will always have a special place in my heart but the Remake is fantastic. The way the story has been fleshed out and the cutscenes are great. Yeah there are annoying fetch quests etc that act as filler, but to see Midgar alive and how everyone is suffering and coping with whats going on is fantastic! I think you must have expected too much from this remake and had your expectations way too high! Your negative comments are just way off. Everyone can see the negatives and positives but there is a way to get that message across.

@@geezyfbaby1 If you're on about 'Synergy' Materia, don't bother. Seriously it's a waste of a materia slot as you might aswell just press L2/R2 to scroll through the characters. Time slows down when you do anyway and the character that's linked will only use the basic spell. If you use say firaga the other character will use the 1st form of their spell. If they have thundega unlocked they will skip it and use thunder. Horrible Materia!

It's worth mentioning that Chakra materia combos very well with all effects that triggers "when your HP is low".
It will never heal you to full and keeps you close to this thresold you want to reach as often as possible.
@Captain Caveman I was not talking about hard mode though. Still haven't try the game on Hard but definitely will (I still haven't finished the game yet, to be honest).
I'll ajust my strategy accordingly when the time comes. For normal, Chakra+ Low HP effects works perfectly fine, that was the point I was making.
I mean, if the game gave you the option to start on Hard I would have done it and probably have not talked about this interraction but you have to play on normal in order to gain access to Hard so, this kind of combo is playable for everybody at some point during the experience.

If you beat wedges score in darts you get a trophy BUT, shortly after some other things, he will also give you a luck-up materia. For all those min maxers and grinders out there, you're welcome 🤗

edit: but still nice that mini game, I wasted 1h45 on that game, even after finishing on top with 6. cause it's just cool. lol. they've done it right!!! I'm in love with this game!

Deadly dodge is really good on barret if doing solo shrinks sim missions cuz it fills stagger very fast you can just use till u stagger

Worth it! I was actually going to skip originally because I was really waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 and wanted to save my money... didn't realize the game was pushed to September, so I splurged on FF7:R instead. I don't regret it though, very much enjoying it.

you forgot to add "elemental materia" very handy on late game and at all(minuses are that its hard to lvl up her), and "steadfast block" which reduces damage and fills atb gauge when guarding(and you have to do a lot of guarding :) on late game) also "revival" materia witch helps to revive fallen ally with half hp
In chapter 14 you obtain "APx2" materia, and when you replay the chapters ("with select chapter") you have default APx3

@@dmitrijmickevic270 link APx2 to elemental materia and re-do the chapters; the 1° chapter Is basically the tutorial, highter the ch. Highter the exp/ap (and highter Number of enemies to grind)

summons have different sizes. if you are in a small room you can only use cactaur, baby chick, or carbuckle (but they can be used in any size room). shiva, ifrit and choco mog can go in mid to large size areas. fat chocobo, levithan and bahamut can only go in large areas
also use every weapons special ability 10 times and you will learn that ability for any weapon you use on that character
I just want to say for those that got the deluxe edition, carbuncle is so far one of the most useful summons....basically fully heals the party and revives everyone that fainted, and seemingly this ability can activate once two people faint regardless of summoning time. I wish there was an item to make summons appear more often though....they barely show up.
Cylus O'Brady i’d like summons more often too, but it feels they’ve designed the game in a way the summons are kind of irrelevant. that’s basically my only issue with it.
@@AnonyMous-jr7ng agreed...I mean you are just handed Ifrit with no fuss at all. Also, not a fan of the story point that some kid can create all powerful summons....they could have implemented them better storywise.
The summons are more useful in arena matches...some can definitely save you in a pinch....funny enough Carbuncle has been the most useful summon for me.

Auto-Cure is Noob trap, still cost ATB and MP so has no advantage what so ever over Restore. Just equip restore and trigger it with the menu and you also have access to higher tier spell. You might want to rethink your list
@Captain Caveman replace auto-cure with restore and you lose nothing and gain a bunch in every situation you describe, i rest my case.
@Captain Caveman Bruh that materia is useless. You don't need to spam heal, just equip a character with high Mag Atk and use Cure2 or 3 once their HP drops below a certain point. It will fully heals them. As for enemies, use one tank character and boost their HP and Def/Vit. Use that character as the main until enemies start targeting you, switch to another and briefly switches back. The enemies only target the character you're controlling and when you're not using them they take less damage from attacks. I don't see the need for Auto-Cure unless people freaking don't pay attention and suck!
Got first strike materia on first meeting with chadley you can finish almost all 10 In the first bombing mission you can get the final one or two from doom rats and done. Also never mentioned luck-up materia from playing darts at seventh heaven and beating wedges top score easy peasy and early.

no new enemies, everything same only you cant use items(say no to phoenix down(will help magic "revival" materia( be sure to get at least 2 of them))) at all you can only rely on skills and magic, mana not regenereting after rest(only when chapter ends) except of course if you have weapon skill that regenerates mana at battle(crates help too), enemies deal a lot of demage( bosses do at least 1k damege with skill attacks ). hard mode helps to get game to platinum trophie

Auto cure is garbage, even in the early game. If you arent paying attention to your health during a fight and cant press a few buttons to heal, you probably shouldn't be playing this game. It's a waste of a materia slot, simple as that

@@Romoredux You could do that, but when you're a new player, your difficulty options are classic, easy, and normal. Hard isn't unlocked until you clear the game once.
As another said, After finishing the game the HARD DIFFICULTY Is unlicked: other that enemy stata highter there's the fact you can't use items and can't replenish MP
I picked the deadly dodge in chapter 2 but then when load my save file it disapeared
I'm playing intermission and can't figure out how to use items??? Can't use them thru items screen and can't choose them from combat menu weird 😕
I spent maybe like an hour and a half figuring out how to pick all the secret materias on the way to the 2nd reactor last night, was a pain, but worth it. Got a materia that you can link to put elemental damage to your attacks, so nice. I wish the materia would duplicate like the original game when you max it out though. :/

@@chrissalih4382 Yeah, you that optional materia? On the way there, there is a moveable bridge, if you drop it down as far as you can, there is a hidden materia on top of it that you can collect.

I womder of you can farm moogle medals...i was in the slums chapter 2 before the bike scene and I broke some boxes while completing the warehouse part then I had to go back there to kill the cereluan drake...i busted the same boxes which reappeared and dropped another medal.
Yes, when you get to Chapter 3, there's a quest with Tifa, they're gonna ask you to clear some monsters. Once you finish walk outside the gate and then walk back in. All the creatures and crates inside will respawns. You can farm Exp, AP, Gil, Potions and Medal as much as you like. Take this time to practice and get good at combats and combos.

I lost all hope with square enix initially with ff12 I said ok.......I had the collectors edition with the gold steel book case but 12 was trash so I never beat it. 13 was eh. 15 took damn near 3 years for a complete game and kh3 broke my heart how they did that also and this big here lol this took the cake. Been waiting on the remake since they originally announced its release back in 07 anyone remember that one????? But only for it to finally come out to have 35hrs at the least? Then I dont know when the dlc or other chapter release? Game companies now adays be playing with us like there not prospering because of us. Auto-Cure is a trap since Regular Cure does the same thing not auto but instead you press L2 or R2 and use cure from that character while also getting access to its stronger variants.

Hell, ff14 is the best final fantasy story to come out in real long time. With the next gen systems coming out, a new ff14 base lining on those platforms 3 years into launch would be cool.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! i'm getting frustrated with report 03. the specifics of how to get them is annoying me. I keep getting mixed signals. DO regular abilities like triple slash or thrust for buster sword count? or is it the punisher mode itself that's "unique ability"
also with the 10 ATB bars. does it have to be on the character im using that unique ability for or do they mean my team overral? how do I accumulate 10 bars without using them. it seems like nothing is working for me.

I was also stuck on this. Unique attacks are just your triangle attack, not braver etc. so once an enemy is staggered, switch to punisher mode and mash square. Every time you build an atb bar by attacking in punisher mode WHILE the enemy is staggered, you will make progress on the report.

me too.. but somehow I actually got it in a boss fight.. if you stagger an enemy just use focused trust then attack the enemy fast to build the ATB then Special attack..
Note: didnt reach 10 bars but I still got it.

@It's Alright hard mode isn't that hard ....i really didn't have to focus on matching materia much on my hard mode playthru....wasnt really a big deal if you use enemy weakness against them

The squat mini game versus Jules was not difficult at all.
Also I got the "alternate" missions on my first playthrough by doing the following:
Tell Sam "She's good at handling the books"
Follow Johnny but respond "No" to him
Tell Sam "No deal" for the coin flip
Choose Luxury Course massage
Tell Aerith "It matters what I think?"
Check on Johnny on the arena (I'm unsure if the drink at the corner of the table is able to be drank but I did not interact with it)
Disorder is great, instead of doing nothing while you switch stance you can do more damage
You get a brief counter period when you switch to Punisher mode, the swirling wind around you indicates it. If something attacks you during that period you counter. You're also blowing an ATB on Disorder when you could be using it on Blade Beam. Or...blast, whichever it is now.
The potion status effect.... well ok :/
Wh dose every streamer seem to miss the XP bonus materia that is the opposite way of the deadly dodge mateia

Is it just me or does this not make sense at all? You can’t get items early or late, you Can get Them in the stage they are in and that’s that. This is not an openworld RPG where you Can seatch for secrets and roam around and do sidequests and stuff whenever. This is an action-game straight up. You do one stage at a time, do the optional stuff in that stage, or not and then you leave that stage behind and move to the next one. Atleast the 20 hours I’ve played is like that
You can backtrack and open chests from earlier areas that the game sometimes forces you away from/doesn't allow you to access until later so it's not entirely confined to each stage
Why do I feel this game gets annoying a lot of times I find myself way to much in the menu, healing, healing,healing, a little to much or in the menu to do a power move gets annoying pretty quick if they could change that atleast have healing on the d pad would make things a lot better, over all I did enjoy it

To easily progress through tough bosses, you just have to constantly switch between characters and use their spells or unique abilities to its full potential.
So basically you can find most of all the stuff very easy....

I agree with OP, I do love what they did but I can’t help but feel like a lot of this games “length” comes from the forced slow pace walking/chatting. There was some new parts to the story (no spoiler) but not as much content. Very limited materia, weird intro to a new soldier character that they stop paying attention to for a huge chunk of the game, lack of any real exploration, enemies don’t respawn (not 100% on this but if they do it sucks idk how) etc. and only 4 characters to use. Seriously there was a lot I felt unsatisfied by and I’m bitter I have to wait an unknown length of time to pay ANOTHER 65$ to play the next “episode”. Again - great game but I think ppl fall so quick for pretty scenery and it’s like but what did you DO in this game? Press forward and attack
