I was in Rome for the first time between March 25-28. One morning there was nice weather. Then it rained for two days! On my second day I took the train down to Naples and went to Pompeii - in pouring rain. The following day, my last full day, I did the Forum/Colosseum tour, and intended to come and see the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain afterwards. But the rain had been so hard, I was soaked through and my teeth were chattering I was so cold - so I went back the my hotel and went to bed, to warm up! Never got to this place, so this was nice to watch. Next time!
I was at Trevi fountain on April 4, a few days ago, in the afternoon. OMG It was insanely crowded. Well, any of the sites were nuts. The Sistine Chapel must have had at least 500 people in it when I was there. People were talking and snapping photos, which is against the rules, but the guards could do nothing but crowd control. I had an excellent guide through the Vatican Museums. Without her even that experience would have been a catastrophe. The Colosseum was insane as well. I did actually have a lovely experience at Palatine Hill, as I arrived when it opened and thought, "Am I at the wrong gate?" because no one else was there yet!!! 😅
Hi, because people think of a selfie and off they go; they don't even know the story behind a monument or anything. Many fancy, uninformative videos are also to blame: but of course, everyone wants to be in that place at that moment. There are great places just around the corner, always stay out of the crowd if you can! Always welcome👍
Unfortunately it’s true. The day tax in Venice will not deter any tourists. BUT….something has to be done. Tourist revenue is great, but at what cost to our treasures?
One reason I won't travel for a while is the insane amount of tourists. They ruin the experience.... I live in a resort town here in No. Idaho and it's crazy during the summer months. 😮
We’re going there to see this magnificent work of art just like everyone else that goes there. I haven’t seen one person on their knees praying to this fountain. You should stop judging people for enjoying themselves.?
It's crazy to see people who don't respect the work of the local police! I would like to see how they behave in their countries: all dumbs just for a selfie, so sad.
I sure do agree. So many selfie selfish people. Just take a photo and move on! Some people hold things up for 10 minutes and don't care they're keeping people waiting. Places like the Trevi Fountain should start charging people by the minute!
@@janlefave3048 Thanks appreciate. I see, they were thinking about it, but there is very little space to do it in an orderly manner. But we are also happy to share all the beauty of Rome with those who travel thousands of kilometers; the important thing is the behavior, it's not nice to ignore the working policemen like that: I've travelled, in some countries they don't even let you open your mouth! Always welcome, ciao!👍

Rome like Venice is suffering from over tourism

The whole world is suffering from overpopulation
ure tragically right.
I was at trevi fountain in April 10th two times. At 4:00 pm and at 10:30 pm and still the same overcrowded .
Yeah, the turists are happy, this is their beloved event 😊
How long is takes to collect the coins?
I was expecting something magnetic, without even knowing if coins are attracted to magnets.

From what I understand the fountain get closed and cleaned Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week....not sure. Haha
It's closed only for 2 hours
Italy wants everyones money, even down to the last coins 🙄🧐
La fontana di Trevi dov'è. 🎃
The coin I threw in was being collected here :)
Too many people
Only god can bring love into your life and give you safe passage to a destination you seek not a fountain this is idolatry at its finest 🤣 wow

Le monetine raccolte, centinaia di euro vengono dati per buona causa alla Caritas dei poveri
@@user-dw9mw3ft3v yes it can be giving for good cause the money but again a fountain is not a god only he can give you good blessings
?
