- Sam Raimi had to top Spider-Man 1 with Spider-Man 2. So I felt that I needed to top Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man - The Perfect Origin (Part 1). So I locked myself in the HiTop Films office until I completed Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 - The Perfect Superhero Movie (Part 2). Only one more Spider-Man Video Essay left and that’s Spider-Man 3. I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I loved making it. This one is for Sam Raimi and for everyone who was inspired and continues to be inspired by The Raimi Trilogy.
Much love and thank you for the constant support.

Literally the best way to explain it.
He set the bar so high with 2 that it whooped every subsequent Spidey movie's ass too. It's really hard to believe that it could possibly be topped at this point with the MCU version being a pale comparison in every measure as a character.

Maybe Doc ock's tentacles didn't listen to him at the river which lead to a "branch" in timeline. Which resulted to the evil doc ock we see in NWH trailer.

I'm pretty sure those are just some branching multiverse's Doc Ock, it's just played by Alfred Molina (hence why different cloack and hairstyle). The same with potential Dafoe's Green Goblin, Electro, and Tobey's and Garfield's Spidey. Sony and MCU probably reached the deal that MCU can use those characters, just not the exact characters as their film counterpart (sorry, if that explanations a bit confusing, but you get the point right?)

Spider-Man 1: Responsibility.
- Take responsibility for your mistakes.
Spider-Man 2: Choice.
- Choose to do what is right, even if it means sacrificing something for the sake of your destiny.
Spider-Man 3: Forgiveness.
- Forgive people for their mistakes. Revenge is never the answer.
This is Peter's arc through all 3 films and it is so beautiful. All 3 movies have crucial moral lessons that were imprinted on children and adults worldwide, moving them to their cores, leaving them with some sort of lesson to implant into their own lives.
Raimi didn't just make these movies for the sake of making them, like Jon Watts, he made them vessels to a greater lesson, a greater meaning, an immortal existence. These movies embody the classic Judeo-Christian values we are taught as children. That is where this trilogy excels and manages to stand out so brightly against the rest, the new movies are sterile they have no gravitas, emotion, weight, maturity, and lesson.
Whenever I think of these movies, I am moved. I tear up and think of the messages they send, the characters in the film that embody us, the humans that are impacted, the journey, and the conclusion of these stories, and the future that lies ahead for them. A big part of this is Danny Elfman and Christopher Young's music, it is so fucking beautiful and it is enhanced by Raimi's direction.
If a movie can make you cry nearly two decades later, that's not nostalgia, that's called a good movie.
The actual message of spider-man 3 is that you should in fact "dig on this"

The ending for Spider-Man 2 is the best for me. As much it ends on a triumphant ending for Spider-Man, the look of Mary Jane at the end is haunting and expresses so much.
What's your interpretation ? I always felt it was meant to be a glimpse at the "MJ anxiously waits for Peter to hopefully come back alive" that becomes her routine in the comics later on. One of their major point of contention as well, but it seems like he quite never addressed that in the sequel, for some reason. Then again, there's probably lots he was planning for in the sequel that he ended up not being able to do, sadly.
@@RioFordays True. Avi screwed Raimi up. SM3 was gonna be about sandman, vulture, and MJ's life being shit now instead of Peter, still hoping that he comes back alive everytime he goes out, and Harry would be saved for another film, we would just watch him descend into insanity

Also: the Uncle Ben scene encompasses what makes Spider-Man a great character. Whereas the Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland (mostly Holland) are basically just selfish and only care about themselves. @Caine Castle am even surprised, the dark knight is more like a crime/action movie whiles spiderman 2 is perfect as a superhero.. spiderman 2 has a greater message than the dark knight.. is also more emotional than the dark knight, also it's has a better action.. the dark knight is really overrated
Isn't that Batman Beyond suit? Batman Beyond is basically SpiderMan/Peter Parker as Batman.

So heavy. Our natural gifts so often tend to feel like our heaviest burdens too. It’s important to remember that they come with responsibility.
Stan Lee and Steve Ditko probably loved this film. It feels so pure to their original stories.
Right down to it's awkward dialogue and goofy villains that aren't intimidating in the slightest?

@@omalleycaboose5937 Explain why his wife is necessary to the plot. Hell, explain how he goes from tortured soul to quippy bad guy who doesn't even make good quips back to tortured soul. I'm not against quippy villains, but his joking attitude during him grabbing Aunt May and bits of the train scene seem rather off from that character. He's definitely the most serious villain, but that's not saying much either. I don't mind his goofiness, but I would have preferred a more serious villain who sees Spider-Man as a annoyance. Like the comics. He is good otherwise, I just was mainly referring to the Goblins and Venom.
I think this hits harder when you turn 20 because we are really in the same position as Peter, I teared up watching this, you perfectly explain why this is really the best super hero film to be made but is also the definition of cinematography

Can we take a moment to appreciate that JJ Jameson's son had all set to be the perfect venom for sequels, he's really a good person in this movie that is betrayed but that ending just leave us without consequences
I was watching the film just and I was thinking the exact same thing
The Sam Raimi trilogy holds a special place in my heart, I watched it with my dad, and he used it to teach me how to use a TV Remote
This past year -- hell, these past 6 months -- have been the hardest 6 months of my entire 23.5 years of life.
In that timespan, I've had to move cities twice, lose my girlfriend of 5 years, put down 2 of my pets, lost my childhood dream job, and just last night my car was hit by a drunk driver after I just spent several months working to get the money to fix it.
Having a movie like Spider-Man 2 to look to as a point of inspiration in what perseverance looks like and what it takes to manifest that in myself has been invaluable to me.
Thank you for making this. It helps explain why I love it so much, and it helps knowing some people out there can understand the struggle I have.
That sucks man. I hope you're doing better now. Xo

One part that goes really unrated or barley talked is the part where the girl that lives across from peter asks if he wants cake and eats with him and is just nice to him

don't worry. Spider-Man 2 is still the best superhero movie. NWH built on Raimi's and Webb's universe. It was 200% nostalgia. I like it a lot, but SM2 is still the best.
The train scene is truly much more than just an awesome fight. It hit me so hard as a child and I believe it has made me who I am
Sam raimi should honestly direct all the Spider-Man movies. Dude is a genius

One of the best details I love that’s always overlooked is when Harry finds out that Spider-Man is Peter, he accuses peter of murdering his father. Rather than explain that his father was the green goblin and that he tried to kill peter and killed himself by accident, he chose to respect Norman’s wishes and kept those details to himself, at the cost of ruining his relationship with Harry. That level of development and maturity just goes to show how Peter as a character has evolved into one of the best in cinematic history. Sam Raimi was way ahead of his time and is one of the best directors of all time.
Oh shit how did I miss that :O
So much quality in this trilogy!

There’s only ever been two movies I went to the theater to see twice because it was so good, The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2. Rami delivered is a true masterpiece superhero film that felt very relatable to the average person. There was moments of conflict, heartbreak, humor, anger, all of the emotions that we go through in life.
There is nothing quite like listening to someone passionately explain why they're a fan of something, and this is one of the best examples of that I've ever seen: it's clear how much you love Spider-Man 2, and you do a great job of conveying exactly why you love it so much; even though I was already a huge fan of Spider-Man 2 myself, I feel like I've gained a whole new level of appreciation for this movie just by watching your video. Kudos!
If Spider-Man 2 had a great impact on you, your essay did on me, it really shows me how to write really moving personal journeys. In the hundreds film essays out there, yours by far is the most thoughtful, this is a gem.

it’s the internal action
