#MASTERSOFWOOD - Jak na to + styl
I’ve had the Triton thicknesser for a few months and am happy with it. Today I had my Triton planer delivered (I paid for it about 6 months ago and have been waiting for Yandles to get them back in stock).
I’ll be doing an unboxing and review soon. Very excited!!!
You guys nailed it. I have the thicknesser and it's a great tool, but alone it doesn't give you perfectly concise material. The jointer is absolutely needed too or at least some way to joint wood.
When I was shopping around I noticed a great deal of combination machines, which having already bought a thicknesser seemed like a complete waste for 2 reasons, obviously I have no need for 2 thicknessers, but having a combination machine means sacrificing quality to price ratio than buying a dedicated jointer. In this "home workshop" price range, the triton is one of the few dedicated jointers to be found.
I'm wondering if you use any kind of outfeed table for that jointer?
I managed to get both of these after the first restock at Yandles. Great machines for the money a perfectly adequate for home/hobby or light trade use.
If you have a decent tablesaw (for squaring your 3rd face) then you can just about get by without the thicknesser. I love em both!
Thanks Ray...a good tip.
Appreciate the video guys, thanks.
What make of square were ye using in this video?
my Triton thicknesser is fantastic. use it all the time.
A great help - Thanks
Hi, can you please tell me how much the distance is between the infeed and outfeed rollers? I'm just wondering what the very minimum length of workpiece is that you can put through without risks. I know that the manual says 380mm, but I believe it's smaller
one trick using the thivknesser to get a flat surface is to use a solid length of 9x2 roof timber. drill 3 holes in the base underside and place ur piece of wood on the length of 9x2. screw it onto it (counter sink first though). and run this through the thicknesser. i did this with 20 pieces of eucalyptus wood that was very rough. i acheived a flat surface on the tops and then i flipped it and got a 2nd flat surface paralell to the top. i then used the table saw to get the other 2 surfaces flat and square.
it may take you time doing this but it saves you 2-400 on the tool. if you have a workshop where your planer is there all the time then just buy the surface planer
I use my thicknesser all the time and cannot recommend it enough, apart from the snipe, but there is ways around that as I’ve demonstrated in my videos before. Or I simply run more timber through than I need and cut 2 inches off each end.
I've just come to accept snipe as one of those things, I end up using my miter saw to cut off the snipe.
Where do I buy height adjuster gears
Where is the TSPL152 Surface Planer / Jointer available online? I am from Romania....thank you.

I thought the TPT125 was a "thicknesser/planer" - which would imply it does both?
Terminology is confusing because of the US / European naming conventions, so I'll try to explain.
A jointer - non ambiguous - can literally only be a jointer -> aka surface planer
Planer -> ambiguous rough term meaning something that plans wood - could be electric, handheld, lunchbox, desktop or cabinet.
Plane -> Manual handheld plane.
Thicknesser -> US term referring to either a lunchbox or cabinet style. EU term for this is planer.
Thickness planer -> Non ambiguous term referring to a thicknesser either lunchbox or cabinet.
Surface planer -> EU term for jointer.
Confusion arises due to the operation of both machines, both plane wood, but ones job is to joint wood (make the bottom side parallel to the fence side), the other's is to a) adjust the thickness and b) duplicate the bottom surface onto the top.
When used in conjunction - welcome to much higher quality projects and joints that actually start fitting together and stuff really lining up.
