+whitedevil2 It's not his standard polite laugh either, you can tell he really gets genuinely amused. That's also why they keep having him on the show, in spite of the fact it seems like Conan's liberal thin-skinned audience ranges from nervous laughter to sheep-like baying in response to Conan's laughter himself. And then Bill Burr starts talking about his views on women and some people stop laughing altogether. But fuck them because Burr is a genius and probably my favorite comedian right now.

My guess is that Mr. Burr represents a new kind of modern philosopher and he's much more ahead than his own fans: in fact he uses powerful, immediately understandable, metaphores to try to spread his thoughts easier, faster. In my opinion he tries to battle against the biggest disease of our society, the so called "politically correct"; he's against all the things that make our minds at ease and he's right. I've discovered Bill Burr only recently but I find him to be much much more than a "simple" comedian. I even find some analogies and common traits with Carlin. Burr should be appreciated more, MUCH more. IMO

Emanuele Chiocchio Agree with everything except for the metaphors part. He does use metaphors but he doesn't 'dumb them down' for us consciously, he himself has admitted he's pretty dumb himself (though he's obviously measuring it based on education rather than wisdom). So he's very wise, but it's not like his mind races with huge 7 syllable words that he has to stupify for the audience, he basically just speaks whatever is already in his head with occasional tweaking certain phrases/words over time to make it funnier. Definitely needs to be appreciated more
or maybe his fans, including you, once again overestimate famous peoples' wits just because they rail against political correctness and then you idolize them to the point of calling all comedians some new brand of philosopher when all they really just do is try to make people laugh. the funniest joke is ironically the fact that everyone who says that about their idolized comedians is exactly the type of person that comedian's social commentary criticizes the most.

And honestly, every year the Daily Show shows me shit I never see anywhere else, ever, and see it as better news than most mainstream sources!

I'm 48, so the flick was before my time as far as GOING to the show, but James Dean's Rebel Without A Cause, when a knife gets pulled on him, says, "I thought only punks fought with knives".
Kind of the same thing. Folks used to have to settle things or settle them with only their FISTS. Then it became knives, then guns. Any punk can hide behind that, or numbers. Social media hate is no different, and while I solely reply on some youtube vids, or one other online newspaper's sport section from my old hometown I grew up in, I can see for sure what you speak of in a wider sense.
My pet peeve is folks in movie theaters talking, or foot on your woman's seat, who after you patiently wait...then polite as you can ASK, get annoyed or ignore you, or act tough. I have literally turned around, not KNOWING what was back there, found a woman sandwiched between two big guys, she in a cast, and flat TOLD her how we were patient and polite, but enough already...THEN gotten the stink eye from her, as if she was doing NO wrong, and flat spewed at her and her buddies, "And you;d better wipe that stupid look off your face or I'll break your OTHER arm!".
Or had some 20 something kid with his date TALKING during the last five poignant minutes of a film, and gave him the look, then have to say, "We're trying to watch the movie", only to get a rude, "So WATCH IT, then", and myself have to LOUDLY say, "So SHUT THE FUCK UP, THEN, ASSHOLE, you've been talking out loud for THREE MINUTES!".
In BOTH cases, they scurried off, when the lights hit. What's that line from No Country For Old Men? When did it start going wrong? "I think when people stopped saying Sir and Ma'am".

Bill Burr & Norm McDonald are two of my favorite Conan guests. I love the different approaches Conan takes to interviewing them. He knows Bill is at his best when you sit back and let him rant. He has a lot more back-and-forth with Norm though between the punchlines
