You know what, I wish I had this level of constraint and ability to remain calm when someone is going out of their way to be a pain in the arse. I recently bought an off road bike and there are so few places to go, nice to see you enjoying what’s left of the few roads. Going to have to join this trf!

This was great by the way, a real sore spot for me now that all the rambling nazi's are getting the lanes closed off all over Cumbria. So use the other 95% of brideways and designated footpaths in the uk that are prohibited for motorised vehicles, bicycles even in some cases and horses. There are hardly any of these tracks left in the UK and all because of miserable, selfish misery old gits like you who clearly think that the remaining 2% of greenlanes and 3% of shared tracks is clearly too much for your entitled self.

Pedestrians are allowed to walk on almost any public road in the countryside, and, at least in my experience, no one ever complains about it, despite the inconvenience that it can cause to motorists, but when motorists try to use one of the few byways that are open to them, they inevitably have to deal with this sort of thing.

I can't remember ever seeing a sign like that on any of the dirt tracks I have used for walking or riding a motorbike, we used to get loads of complaints for riding off-road on the old pit heaps and woods and the rubbish tip land and gravel works when I was young, the best bit is it keeps teenagers out of trouble when they are repairing and riding motorbikes and nobody heard us after we were out of the village and onto the rough ground but they still phoned the police.

Over in Greece its an off road bikers paradise,as long as you dont have a loud exhaust, slow down for animals and be polite and respectful.I have mostly only ever been greeted with waves and curiosity on public land. Most greeks ask me in greek"what are you doing here" expressing genuine suprise why anyone would want to go there. When i tell them that the greek countryside is the best most beautiful place on earth(imho) they are usually happy and proud. Many have friends with restaurants and cafes that i eat and drink in.Some private farmers let me ride across their land.

I know one set of road that you can to over 200 k on gravel from town to town with at least 100 road going off that. The only unwritten rule is the logging truck have right of way even if the are on the wrong side of the road. Some roads are maintained but most are abandoned.

Very good point about there being miles and miles of footpaths.
Yet this woman chose to walk down a byway.
    And moan.

@Lola Morgan Yeah she does, but she has NO right to moan about other people using it legally.

@Lola Morgan Of course she has just as much right to use it, however she cannot complain about other people who have the same amount of right using it.

My uncle used to have this problem on his land so he put some really bad ass rams on the path which attacked anything that moved, problem solved. Mind you their were some really pissed of bikers with smashed up fairings and broken light lens.

Mr Bowie It's partly the age, they'll move into a respectable 'family' private estate with kids outside playing on bicycles etc or chasing each other, tig or whatever young kids do in the street & try to turn it into a retirement village for walking dead overnight. And start a campaign on the kids & parents. Kids can't make noise or do anything. Maybe we all end up like that? Hope not.
