Detroit still needs several things. They need a complete transportation overhaul, much better schools, end corruption within the city government and then just maybe they could start attracting people.

I mean, no doubt! The new buildings look the same coast to coast. However, good thing Detroit has a handful of historic neighborhoods with beautiful homes and mansions within the city limits. Examples: canfield historical district, palmer woods, indian village, historic boston-edison.
The more of these condos go up downtown the more tax base, and money for the Detroit school district, roads, etc. But most importantly more tax base equals more money for ALL Detroit neighborhoods. Lower to middle income housing needed.
Okay, I hate to seem negative, but to me that Brush Watson building looks like an f'd up ten layer cake, like the frosting was too hot, and caused the whole thing to slide! Don't get me wrong, I'm a total fan of all things Motown and it's progress!!
I must agree; honestly, those new developments appear as though they could have been in any city. Well, at least the neighborhood is no longer just fields of grass.
I never visited Detroit or Michigan I would be willing to drive through that area eventually I live in Massachusetts and Boston is our capital building new stuff for years but major development and construction projects have been going steady like NYC only smaller in square miles.
Ideally these new places would be built with underground parking under them . Appears from news reports people going downtown for entertainment take the street parking from residence LIVING and working in that community . Some claim to drive for an extended time looking for a parking spot on event nights
The real way to build a city where people can move around and not clog the downtown with cars is to give them public transportation that is actually worth using. Giving them more parking would just encourage them to clog the existing parking even more without addressing the underlying issue of car dependence.
Looking good Detroit. It's nice to see some positive stuff like this. Thanks
Fantastic revival.

Old architecture is so much better it's embarrassing.

as far as the old vs new, I'll take old every time! so much more quality and character!

Have they started on the coda yet?
Thanks and yes! That's the field at the 15 second mark.
There's still a lot of vacant land in that area. Hopefully, they build on

There actually is a portion of units in these Brush Park apartments that are both low and middle income. It's not a huge bunch but they're there....

Brush needs a tall building
10 story apartment is on its way but that's the tallest I know of as of now...

they should replace all of that with bike lanes and people oriented places.
There was the same issue in Corktown during the Tiger stadium days. "Resident parking only with permit" was posted. Thanks.
Most have very poor planning but the Brush Watson project does have two stories of underground parking below it.
