    Thanks for this info. It seems like everyone is having problems with the SST. V_Tha_Sapien, Ginger On Wheels, and Alien Rides. The really only outspoken person was V_Tha_Sapien, but when I texted both Ginger On Wheels and Alien Rides, they both texted me that they both experienced electrical issues with the scooter.

    Thanks for sharing I will use the standard charger,that comes with it.

    I have a Weped FS - 50ah 21700 50E cells, I got the 1.7amp charger with it, after 2 weeks of owning I got a 8amp charger. After about 2-3 months it started to cut off at 75v - was fine from 75v up, but as soon at it dropped below through either sag or actualy drain, it cut out. and wouldnt turn on. I had to plug the charger in to get it going again.
    So I got the battery checked and the first group of cells where gone and had to be replaced. I felt it was the 8amp charger I was using.
    Now battery is fixed and I only use the 1.7amp charger
    I agree a batter battery could be used, but you talk about having much more power with 30T or 40T.......But really, my FS needs no more performance than it already has...... its crazy already, so crazy the front tyre spinns at all speeds...

      Hi, thanks for reporting the issue. I'm glad to hear you got that row of cells replaced and got it going. I am concerned that the rest of the cells in your battery pack took some hit as well, heavy stress/wear and tear...🙁 Might work fine for now but could face premature failure later.
      Samsung 50E cells are not designed to deliver the level of power the SST and FS controllers demand. The controllers are putting too much stress on the battery discharging also, so that will decrease the lifespan of the battery as well. The reason why I recommend the Samsung 40T or 30T is because they have plenty of headroom in discharging capability. Because they have very low resistance in the cells themselves they don't generate heat under high power demand either, and provide more power as a result. It's like trying to push a overheating 4 cylinder engine by putting big turbos, but with the 30T or 40T you got a Mercedes V8 engine from the E63S to make use of those turbos without stressing the engine.

      Yes,you have to be careful using these higher powered chargers,they hit the cells hard and of course the cells will eventually break down.I have an SST and only use the 1.5 Amp charger,weped did also include the 11 Amp but even weped instructed me to only use it to top the battery up not for full charging.

      Am considering an sst, and am aware of problems associated with it. Spoke with “Ginger On Wheels” about it. He had to send his scooter back.
      My question. How is your scooter doing NOW?

    Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm new to this whole multi cell charging thing. Anyway these batteries aren't all taking the full charge. 1 72v battery like we have here is actually an array of 20 series x 9 parallel right? This means the current is split across all the series stacks dividing it more or less equally. This should allow you to charge faster than 2 amps without pushing the batteries. If I'm misunderstanding something please let me know.

    • @noobz5056
      @noobz5056  Před rokem

      20s 9p is correct. But the current and voltage are not split just because your battery cells are grouped in a pack. The battery manufacturers test these cells individually (not in group as a single pack unit) at 4.2V @ whatever the current they tested, 2A or 4A for example, and record them in their datasheet. When you feed 84V @ 5+ Amp using a charger your every single battery cell gets stressed. Each and every cell gets way more than 4.2V because it is affected by the total voltage and current (in watts). That is the total energy every cell will face. And that is why the batteries get stressed, and can cause damage. Discharging is a lot easier on the battery so it can tolerate quite well (but still has limit as to what the batteries can take).

    Great video!
    I have a question: I am getting a special cyberfold dark knight edition being made as we speak. It is a discontinued model, but they are making a new revised edition with much better motors and controller. Also, they will be using the new 2023 Sonic parts. They admitted the older model had a bad controller and motors. Now in this new version, they will be using a Sine Wave controller instead of the old hyper controller. Also, the motor has been upgraded, and they will be installing the new motors they use in the 2023 Sonic in my cyberfold dark knight. Now my question is: since they are using the sine wave controller, will the Samsung SDI 21700 50E be okay to use in this model build? Also, they are providing a fast charger 15A. Please advise. Thank you.

    • @noobz5056
      @noobz5056  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi, Sinewave controller will work fine with the Samsung 50E battery in that scooter. But my concern is that the battery is not strong enough to handle the level of discharge in current. It also can't handle high current on charging. If you use that 15A charger it will nearly fry your battery and after a while it won't be able to hold a charge. It can't even handle 4A charger and the battery won't last. You will want to get a 1.5A or 2A charger and modify the plug end to make it work if you have to. Positive and Negative wires is all you need. And try jot to draw too much power from your controller because that battery cannot handle high discharge current either. Hope this helps.

      @@noobz5056 Are you serious?? The weped tech told me he has been sending out the 15A chargers to all his customers to charge the Samsung 50E battery, and he hasn’t heard of any complaints and it’s been working fine. He told me his customers have been using the 15A charger to charge the Samsung 50E multiple times showing no issues of the battery being fried or not holding a charge after multiple charges. How can this be? I appreciate your response dearly, but how is this possible from what he is saying?

    • @user-lp5kv1tk6j
      @user-lp5kv1tk6j Před 11 měsíci

      @@noobz5056 Also, after talking to Mr. Jeon, the Weped engineer, he tested it on his floor sample scooters for five years and no signs of the battery being fried or not holding a charge was prevalent. He has a direct relationship with Samsung, and the Samsung rep advised him to use the 50E battery in the Sonic scooters because it is directly compatible with the kick board that they use. So let me ask you, how sure are you that the 15A charger will fry the battery? Did it actually happen to you personally while charging it with a 15A charger and you own a Samsung 50E battery? Or is it a theory? Sorry, I’m not trying to call you out or doubt you. I find your information brilliant, and that is why I am conflicted. Please explain. I really value your feedback and response. Thank you.

      @@user-lp5kv1tk6j Sorry I didn't read your response until just this morning.. God told me that Samsung 50E, I'm talking the genuine one, can't handle high amp on charging. The highest amp it can handle safely for longevity use (over 1000 cycles) is less than 2A, preferably 1.5A, and I am talking about the whole battery pack not just a single cell. The amps don't just get added up by adding up the cells in series. Charging with say a 2A on a whole battery pack takes the same time as charging a single cell with same amount of current, meaning that all battery cells in a pack receives that same 2A. They don't work the same way as voltages. 15A charging will not fry the battery (Samsung 50E) but will suffer from the extreme stress and at some point it will quit. Whichever cells start to fail they won't hold a charge. Testing these batteries at 15A for several times won't give you immediate failure. It will take more than that. I know quite a few people out there with Weped scooters (SST and FS) with Samsung 50E batteries going bad on them after using the fast charger 15A. 2A charging will take a bit longer to charge because it has to go through balancing compared to charging a single battery..

    • @noobz5056
      @noobz5056  Před 2 lety

      Samsung 40T will outperform it in max continuous discharge current even in good weather. The Molicel P42A they showed 45A in the datasheet is not actually the max continuous discharge but max Peak discharge. The continuous discharge is much lower...below Samsung 40T. And the P42A suffers in the cooler and colder operating temperatures, meaning more power drop. The Samsung 30T and 40T cells provide more sustainable current discharge under colder temperatures.. Rion should've used the Samsung T cells. That datasheet from Molicel is misleading..
