    This is the "magic" I like about this hobby.
    Converting, Kitbashing and making something truly unique.
    20 years ago the possibilities were limited to white dwarf and only an handfull of people.
    But with channels like yours I have improved so much faster!
    Perhaps you make some more of these.
    ,or even some tutorials , or a link collection to youtubers you know with "why you recommend them" in a video.

    • @bobsomething4733
      @bobsomething4733 Před 4 lety +2

      You say that but the old 3rd edition Daemonhunter Codex allowed any faction to field Daemons and mutants as they fell to Chaos, thus enabling the justification as to why the Ordo Malleus and Grey Knights were deployed. Each faction had several possible ideas for how, in the fluff, they could be corrupted and yes even the Orks had a few options, including:
      -Ork chants are accidentally resonating daemonic crystals, awakening them
      -The Ork boss is possessed (apparently a thing in 3rd edition lore, anyway)
      -The Orks salvaged parts/metal from a Chaos titan for their gargant
      -Orks found a Nurgle temple and saw a big, green god they think is an aspect or Gork (or maybe Mork?) and have attracted Nurgle's favor
      So Orks on the whole seem Warp resistant but old lore hinted that Orks could, under rare circumstances, fall sway to Chaotic influence. The art on nearby pages depict Orks with mutations whose armor are adorned with chaos stars and Marks of Nurgle.

    Love how these guys turned out (especially the addition of the bolter nurgling). Conversion can be so therapeutic sometimes, and adds so much personality to a force. I made a diorama many years ago with a bunch of wood elf glade guard camouflaged and hiding in trees above a peasant camp ready to ambush, and after snipping off a couple of bits and some repositioning, I made it so the wood elves' leader was making a 'shh' gesture with a finger to his lips. A super simple and small bit of conversion, but really fun and atmospheric. Sometimes going that extra mile and rummaging in your bitbox really pays off!

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  Před 4 lety +1

      It was really freeing, I honestly don’t know why I haven’t done this more! That sounds like an awesome project, reminds me of a conversion I did when I was younger, I took an Eldar guardian and made him go full neo from the matrix, flipping upside down while one hand shooting with his gun. Super fun with just a little repositioning and snipping.
      I’m glad you enjoyed the video :)

    Yep... A dremel can also be great for drilling out gun barrels. I tried that rather early on the very first set of models I purchased. To be fair, I study dentistry, so I already had some classes that exercise working with rotary tools on very small areas.
    (DISCLAIMER: we only work on dummies and nothing we produce in the later mentioned classes will end up in a real persons mouth. Later courses might involve building stuff that is put in someones mouth but for that I either will buy new bits, much more likely the university medical center provides tools for said tasks. Also, dentures and crowns etc are cleaned and rinsed and disenfected countless times before they are finally given to a patient/implanted.)
    Not only did I use the build in "dremel" on the denturist workplaces we used for our denturist classes (there are always phases were one waits for plaster casts to cure or similar brakes) , I used drill bits that are designed to be used on dentures and other dental prosthetics so they are very accurate.
    I managed to drill out the barrel and the side holes on the bolt pistol meant for the commissar that comes with the militarum starter box.
    Since I finished the class I don't have access to said workplaces but I do have a dremel and I spent less than 5 euro on a set of chucks that had one that allows to put on the denturist burring and grinding bits (they have thinner shafts than regular dremel bits) I own. Now I can use a hole array of tools I already have and that are well suited for treating small details.
    I'm accually looking forward to look what I can do on metal miniatures. Since a lot of my tools are made to work on dental alloys I am convinced they will have an easy time on the rather soft alloy miniatures are made from.

Ironically, now that this one is done, I think I have the stuff I need to actually do it! The project may be postponed, but it will not be forgotten!
      For a metallic purple, id check Turbo Dork. They have a really nice line of colored metalics, and I have to imagine they have a purple in that line. Otherwise, Daler Rowney makes a purple ink called violet velours with a nice sheen to it, you could mix something like that with a bright aluminum color and get a really nice purple that way.

    Those look fantastic. So, I've not been able to get into Warhammer yet, it's one of those hobbies I've been interested in since waaaaay back in HS, but was always very hesitant of due to size/time requirements and the obvious sticker shock of getting into it. I had never done any model stuff, or painting, until October of last year when I painted up a D&D Young Copper Dragon to enter a painting contest at my local game store. Since then, I've been slowly watching more and more painting/crafting videos and Warhammer has been pretty prevalent in most of the people I've been watching. Still haven't been able to get past that mental block of the $$ yet to really take the plunge, so I've not really looked into the rules of the game. But! (This has been a long winded comment to get to this point)
    *
    How do these work in the game? Points wise, legality of play wise, etc? Do you have to have certain bits on models for them to count as something or can you paint up some zombies with some molded armor and tentacles and say, these are my sweet chaos boys and they have x weapons?
    *
    If I were to get into it the chaos armies and adeptus mechanicus are the two groups that have really piqued my interest. (though, the concepts of the Orks in Warhammer are far more fun sounding than the Orcs I know about) So being able to create something on my own for those could be a fun interesting way to start off the hobby before I start getting more invested.
    tldr: Great video, as are all of yours, and the most important bit is between the **s

      Yeah the whole thing really only makes sense if you happen to have left over blightkings, or you get some for super cheap on eBay. If I were to do this again I’d be 1000% making blighlord terminators instead. The size makes more sense, as well as the base size.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  Před 4 lety

      Makes sense, there are a handful of blightkings that have armor all the way down, maybe it’s more of a model choice for that aesthetic. Pick the ones in full armor. In this case, I’m workin with what I’ve got, so I can’t be too picky about the leather, but I totally see your point :)

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  Před 4 lety +2

      I suppose it depends. I got a set of blightkings for somewhere around $20 on ebay. Bits weren’t too expensive, you could spend another $10/15 if you wanted to just get weapons and heads. A box of 7 plague marines from GW is $50. So for less then that you get a unique death guard unit and probably had way more fun putting them together and painting. On the other hand you could find used plague marines and they might be the same price or less. But then they would just be plague marines like everyone else has. It’s all about your personal hobby, so whatever is best for you makes sense.
      That being said, I don’t even play 40K, so my 5 man blightkings squad is now down by 1 lol. Gonna have to get more on eBay to make a proper warband!
