I think this is one of the most important things people who are looking to build armies need to hear. Paint something you know you'll want to paint over and over again without wanting to run your head through a wall. It feels good getting one test model looking perfect, but if you know you'll never spend that much time on every model then what's the point? Spend that time on character models. Also your daemons and Death Guard look amazing. Keep up the great work!
Exactly! Especially if you are playing a horde army. If you can't stand painting the same gaunt for Tyranids dozens of times, it might not be the army for you.
Yep..easy to pour your heart into a model, only to realize you have 50 more to go. A lot of people speed paint most of the army and save the super detailed stuff for a couple of champions or whatever.
"Now, this paint scheme is not going to win any awards..."
Dude, I wouldn't be so sure about that. They look _incredible_, individually and as a unit. I've never wanted to field Nurgle before, but seeing this scheme is making me want to reconsider that!
Grandfather nurgle would be happy. Let's us rejoice in his filth!!! Seriously though they look great.
I noticed the corroded metal before you showed how you did it, so that says something about how good it is. Noice.
One of my favorite things about your channel is that even when you are crafting things I have no interest in, nor will ever do, I still learn useful and important skills and tricks.
That’s the main goal! I just wish every viewer could view things from that perspective when something isn’t directly related to what they need/want/do.
this video makes me want to see you do a doom themed diorama
As a fellow Death Guard/Nurgle player, I've been loving watching you fall down this hole. I love your scheme, its simple but very expressive - and for wargaming - I think that is far more important than every figure looking like a Crystal Brush/Golden Daemon winner. That said - don't downplay or knock your scheme - it is gorgeous, and most people would be proud to have an army that looks that good. Having an entire army come together with tone, color and scheme is critical to really telling a story with your army. I did a video early this year showing the journey I did painting and building my Nurgle Army when I came back to Warhammer last year, and that's a big part of it. I think it's awesome that you use multiple layers of contrast paints and mix them for different colors. As a suggestion - the Flesh Tearers Contrast is IMO a better red for blood - its not such a bright "jump-out-you-red" and has a slightly darker tone, with a touch more brown to make it look more like meat or blood rather than Blood Angels. YMMV. In either case, great vid.
I’ll grab some of that red, as it sounds more inline with what I want and end up making with a mix.
I am enthralled by this colour scheme. Absolutely amazing and, bar none, the best rendition of GranDaddy's Nurgle boys.
The oilyness and overall disgusting feel of the models is spot on.
im super proud of you my dude. from hating bulk mini painting to this. and they look super good. ive seen worse painted minis in display cases at hobby shops man, you did amazing work!
These schemes look really easy and work well. One thing I love to do for my nurgle minis that is fast and effect is some gulliman flesh over a wound then used water thinned blood for the blood god on the top layer. It has just enough brown and red with gloss to look like a real wound.
THIS IS AMAZING I was scared starting painting miniatures without armor cause the "meat" was a challenge for me but warching your video I just know how I want my army... Is just perfect
I finally just finished my Death Guard minis from the 8th Edition starter set. I bought it when it came out haha.
This reminds me of the last time I had a case of hobby burn out, I had this elaborate paint scheme for my necrons (bone necrons with aged brass shoulder blades and red lights). It was a bit too elaborate for me, so I stopped painting after 10 warriors.
I then made the decision to break the painting process down in simpler steps and at least do one step for 5 warriors a day.
It was slow, but it got me out of the deep uninspiring hole we find ourselves in sometimes.
Great demon horde army. Grandfather Nurgle is pleased. I really like your technique for mass army painting.
Jeremy is good at making his nurgly bois cool-disgusting, but not disgusting-disgusting.
I’ve painted that entire box (space marines too) twice now. Once for myself and once for some friends. I never want to paint another primaris lieutenant or bloat drone again
this was amazingly done! one trick i often use when doing metal is i mix skeleton horde and typhus corrosion, it gives it a really weird texture and is really easy to apply
"I keep buying more models than I have time to paint."
Now, that's eerily familiar.
Nasty in the best way. I really like the effect of that last red/Skeleton Horde/gloss varnish glaze.
The black carapace on the drones is excellent!
Fantastic paint scheme!!.
I noticed the death guard shoulder pads on the plaguebearers which is awesome!!
These models look great. Even better, your videography and editing on this video was amazing! Keep up the awesome work Jeremy!
Yes! new video, been looking forward to it all week! Thats one scary looking bunch of Nurgle's
I love this process video- things like this are so helpful for a broader understanding of how different paint styles and contrasts work together on a small scale for a large impact. I’m so glad you have found renewed passion through Warhammer- it definitely shows in your videos!
I love that you are building a Nurgle force!
your plague bearer with the sideways head is my favorite.
Your nurgle death guard colour scheme is awesome
Glad you used sepia. It does not get enough use. Great how you Make them all look so alive and believable.
Well down youngling of grandfathers blessings. I approve
Yes! Loved watching this. You scheme looks great, and it’s even cooler that it’s super replicable for your future models.
The black on the flies looks really good!
I've never really managed to get a good looking black without it looking flat
Fantastic vid Jeremy! Loving the nurgle! Grandfather would be proud
I am really liking the end result of these not used contrast paints so now I’m tempted to grab some
This makes me want to try out contrast paints on the horde of unpainted minis I have. I love the way your big fella turned out!
Do it! You can make your own contrast with 3:1 liquidtex matte medium and flow aid, respectively. Was able to bang out 500+ points in 15ish hours.
Do it, nurgle and death guard models LOVE contrast paints, the uneven surfaces and small texture breaks of maggots and puss makes it super simple to use contrast to maximum effect!
@@TwitchingJacob yep! And you don't even have to "paint" those boils. Thin the contrast down to get discoloration and staining effects. It's so cathartic to paint.
As everyone has said you totally should. I only recently made the plunge and began utilizing Contrast Paints and man, it's a game changer for sure.
Id love to see a battle report between you and another CZcamsr if ya ever find the time. Nurgle isn't space marine op, but they're fun. Be awesome to see the whole army together kicking ass.
Really cool use of the contrast paints. I've not made the plunge to get any of them yet.
This is super cool!! I am learning so much from you man! Thanks for doing all these videos because now I'm addicted to crafting and painting miniatures haha
Duuuude.. These are amazing looking!! I absolutely love your style of videos, especially when paired with mini painting!
Love the channel and the army. Papa nurgle bless you, from a death guard player to you.
amazing job jeremy. you inspire me in all my campaigns.
Great video! Simple and effective paint job that looks very cool 🤘 I’m digging your newer painting videos 🤓
That's a great looking nurgle scheme
This is cool; like John Ninas video painting his army though it's a simple scheme can feel the satisfaction and joy of a completed army coming through. Keep having fun with your nurgles!
These looks so good! You did a great job on those mold lines and seams too.
Thank you for the inspiration I wanted to create buildings and terrain just for fun really and stumbled across your channel and now I'm going to build a nurgle army to go with it and learn how to play warhammer thanks man 👌👍
Looks great!!
Looks awesome! I dig it when people bring in third party figures for units that are supposed to look different than what’s in most boxes(Daemons, Guard units, etc). It really shows how expansive the universe is, and what unexpected forces might show up in a battle in M41+.
I have found that the Krylon Modern White Matte primer matches Wraithbone spray almost completely, I've been very pleased with it! I can get that for about $4 a can compared to what they want for Wraithbone.
Nurgle's Rot is also fun to play with if you want a more puss like ooze. Would also fit thematically and efficiently as it's just so dang easy to use
They look amazing!! Great job.
Love the colour palette on the big guy. Got a real John Blanche vibe about it.
Amazing paint scheme! Looks really, really nice! Motivation at max!!!!
Great video. Really enjoying this Nurgle series, Jeremy!
I think they look fantastic. :D Videos like this makes me wanna pick 40k back up. Back in the early 2000's me a gang of friends were crazy about warhammer. I had a 2000 point Tau army, 2000 point Chaos army, a 1000 point Dark Angel Army, and a 2000 point Dark Eldar army... I spent so much money on this game, but i found out that the better i got at painting, the less models i finished xD practicly my whole Tau army which was my last army i owned, was unfinished... And tbh, i remember the Tau being the least fun to paint. Chaos and Dark Angels were my favorites. I'm planning to restart, i need a hobby other than playing video games.
Absolutely love the new style of your video with the handwritten words and the nurgle grafics at the beginning! I'm always finding something new on your chanel :)
It really makes me happy when people notice these added efforts! :D
Nurgling diaries really did a number on you huh?
Looks great.
Love the look of those wings
Thank you Jeremy for featuring the "Pinaleon" miniature! It fits perfectily on a Death Guard themed army!
For anyone interested in this miniature and our upcoming KS campaign "Shattered Hell", feel free to join our pre-launch page also: www.kickstarter.com/projects/crippledgodfoundry/shattered-hell
I think these turned out great!I’m currently painting a whole bunch of nurgle stuff and boy did I make my paint scheme too complicated.
Great paint jobs! I am procrastinating painting my ever-growing unpainted minis.
I've only seen the thumbnail and I can't watch the video yet because I have school but from what if seen, super cool.
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial Enticing... but I actually did have time, you are really good at using the contrast paints without weird splotchy tide marks and stuff like half the posts on r/Warhammer40k.
In love with your painting style! I've tried it on my polymer clay figures and the result was much better than I expected!
Now you need a dope big wargaming board to match! I'd love to see you work your foam magic on a large scale set of terrain
Never tought to blend those contrast paints to get that effect, brilliant!
Yea its really neat, especially how the order of the two paints creates different results. And I bet just mixing them together and applying in one coat would create a different tone as well.
I may have mentioned this before, but I'm painting my Nurgle army with inspiration from Silent Hill: No green, but red, brown and flesh tones instead.
Still, contrast paints really are incredibly helpful to get anything that isn't a vehicle done quickly AND looking good!
Wow looks really great!!
Dude that army looks great. You are an amazing painter. Killed it man!!
Dude this is super helpful! I just started building my own Warhammer Nurgle army and I have so many minis to paint and I already told myself I want to paint them before I bring them to a table
Looks great! I feel like your mini painting is really levelling up.
Contrast paints really do put in the work for their best use case. I've found myself using them to replace basecoat + wash steps so often, especially on organic surfaces.
I think it makes for an awesome scheme. Really like it
The yellow and black look great.
Love that scheme, especially how coherent they look
Hi I`m building a hybrid army of Death guard and Black legion. Your videos really inspired me to try more contrast paint to speed up the process. Cheers from Sweden!
Very nice ! And great that you found a way to film yourself in your anti-shakes painting position. Do not forget, painted models roll more 6s!
Love it! As Death Guard are one of my preferred armies I went with a similar, more 'naturalistic' scheme.
Also great to see you enjoying your hobby!
I love the black on the locusts.
I really enjoyed your four rules. Great way to keep that unpainted pile of shame away!
DUDE! Your paint scheme is epic! Very inspirational even for someone who doesn't play Warhammer. Great job bud.
These look good, well done
That miniature looks way fun to paint. I love the color scheme!
Dude, I feel the same way about the citadel skulls. I’ve been super stingy with them for the last year or so, and I still have like 200 of them. They will outlive me.
great color palette!
I hope we get to see that Nurgle army in action some time. (even though battle reports are protons of work). And who knows if you have enough deamons you could even play age of Sigmar against Scott and Jon.
50 shades of DECAY!!! Man it was right there!!!
I love the way you can make everything sound and look so easy xD
I love this theme of nurgle flying through you and miscasts channels, my two hobby idols. Scheme looks amazing man.
I have a fairly decent set of Death Guard I have to paint up myself. I am facing down almost four complete sets Death Guard from the last boxed set and plenty of extras. ( Gota love the local swap meet!) OUCH, that's going to take a bit with my nerve damage but I have a secret weapon........empty syringes. Now I have a medication that is in the boot once a week and learned they are supper cheap. I make my recipes in increments and fractions of CC's and keep it written down. This way when I mix my colors I get EXACTLY the same shade. For larger syringes just head over to the local farmers hardware or tractor supply and get horse sized syringes perfect for large scale projects.
crippled god foundry and creature caster are both amazing companies for 3rd party miniatures
It's really great to see your army grow, and the inclusion of unique minis. The Rustoleum Chalked ultra matte spray paints have been a pretty decent substitute for GW. They have an "Aged Grey" and a "Linen White" that are similar to the GW ones, plus lots of other great colours. Canadian Tire or other big stores usually have them. Looking forward to more Nurgle models!
i absolutely love contrast paints. so easy to use and essential for really fast painting. hit em with a drybrush after and they look great!
Thanks for the idea I will use different contrast paints like how you painted the nurgle flesh (skin).
Great video and really nice painting :)
Wow! That's a cool looking paint scheme; very moist.
Jeremy, your production value increased significantly. Your editing gets better all the time. Super enjoyed this video and this miniature.
Those Crippled God minis would be great for Jake Thornton's God of Battles (high fantasy mass battles ala Warhammer Fantasy that's model agnostic) and Tribes of Legend (Greek themed mass combat with rules similar to God of Battles). Anyone looking for a game to use these models in should check those out!
Also, BMC's painting continues to improve. Seems like Jeremy has gotten some exponential growth now that he found things he actually likes to paint lol
Painting good quality models is just easier to paint well than stuff like reaper bones or DIY terrain.
Those look quite nice. Definitely have me interested in going for an army of my own.
Yessss!!!!! You look so putresent vitality in this video! Keep the good work!
I really love the chaos daemons models. They can be paint with whatever techniue you want and jusy go crazy with them. Washes, drybrush, inks, effects, whatever.
Thanks to *Crippled God Foundry* for Sponsoring this video!
*CHECK OUT THIER KICKSTARTER* : bit.ly/3izThcH
Dude nice chair.
Very nice models. Jumping on that KS! Thanks. Also, love that you wrote the plan down! I have to do the same for a goblin army and skele army soon.
You are welcome Jeremy! Very good and interesting painting theme! Always feels great to see our miniatures receive your magic touch!
Vallejo bonewhite spray is a perfect replacement for wraithbone
These models look freaking amazing, and I'll definitely back this Kickstarter. It was cool seeing you paint this one up - especially in this Nurglized style!
