Hi, thank you for such a detailed explanation. I have a lancer 2009 Japanese version and I couldn’t find the EGR valve in mine, it seems that it comes that way, is that possible?

I have an 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse gt 3.0 5 speed manual I replaced everything for the egr and the engine light will be off for an good probably 10 miles and then turn on with po401 and it can’t figure it out

Is it an original equipment manufacturer part or an off brand? Sometimes when it comes to sensors you have to buy the OEM part because aftermarket parts won’t set well with the car computer. If it is an original it’s possible a bad part, I have bought brand new OEM parts and they have actually turned out to be defective. If you covered those bases, I would look into your catalytic converters and or your O2 sensors. Hope that helps.

How hard was it to remove the dipstick housing?

    • @StevenDIY392

It’s not hard at all. There’s one fastener holding the the dipstick mounted on a bracket toward the middle & then one more bracket & fastener we’re the dipstick goes into the transmission.

After replacing the EGR, did that fix the issue? I have a similar issue. My lancer issue, at a stopped state, it takes a while to accelerate and if i turn on the AC, the performance is worse. It feels like the car doesn't want to go.

Yes after testing the EGR valve & finding it was bad, I replaced it with a factory replacement and it started working great. Sounds like you might be having the same problem. If you end up installing a new one, clean the EGR port we’re it bolts to the engine so you don’t clog the new one.
