  • Beach Fishing at Vivonne Bay, Kangaroo Island, fishing South Australia? Vivonne Bay is one of the best fishing spots. It is a long white sandy beach with crystal clear water. Vivonne Bay delivered some nice Flathead and Salmon Trout for dinner. It was a great way to spend a sunny autumn day. This fishing video shows you how and where we were fishing Vivonne Bay Beach. We caught flathead, silver whiting and salmon trout.

    Hi to you Fishing Sister (Linda).... I went to Kangaroo Island when I was 2 years old, as my parents were Soldier Settlers. We had a Beach Shack at "Millars Beach", you would have passed this on the way to the jetty at Vivonne.... I more or less grew up there, & learnt to fish from the beach & the jetty..... Have caught heaps of Flat Head, Mullet , Salmon Trout off the beach at "Millars Beach", unfortunately no whiting though, but have caught them near the jetty...... Is nice to see the different parts of the Island that you have visited fishing, brings back great memories... Thank you for putting your experiences up on You Tube of you fishing adventures.... Brian Millar, formally of Kangaroo Island.... 😀

      Hi Brian thanks for that lovely feedback! Sounds like you had an idyllic childhood growing up in such a beautiful place. We were blown away by the Island and Vivonne Bay in particular. It is nice to hear that our vids bring back happy memories for you as well. We really enjoy making them and already we watch our KI videos to relive that holiday :)

    Your little fish at around 2 min is called a Tommy ruff or Australian herring, was fishing American River this morning with my daughters who were catching these and salmon trout, and explained the easiest way to tell the difference is the pectoral fin is black on a Tommy and gold on the salmon trout, plus the trout have a lot more gold spots down their side..

      And tommies have rough skin 😀 while salmon trout are slimey. Sounds like you had a good time. Some more fishing sisters! They are lucky to be growing up knowing about fishing 💖

      @@fishingsister we did, went back tonight, and fished the end of the warf again and got a lot of silver trevally, the girls had a great time and my little one got her first double header, she was pretty chuffed.
      We had some excitement Got snapped off fishing 40lb mono trace with a single 4/0 through the back of a live Tommy, what ever it was ran hard with some big head shakes was great listening to my daughters they had never heard a real sing like that before, then unfortunately ping!!!!! Was great fun all the way back to where we were staying was "what do you think it was dad.."

    You should show your cooked dinner at the end of all the videos...completes the cycle of catching and eating fish

      Yes we have started doing this in our more recent videos. Never used to. Eating it is half the fun!

    Congratulations -- this is a most informative series of videos.
    I have one small request: the video header includes the date the video was uploaded to CZcams.
    However, I doubt this is/was close to the actual date when the video was recorded.
    For example, in this Vivonne Bay video you have suggested the maximum temp later in the day will be 29 degrees.
    It was definitely not the case on 01 August 2021.
    So can you please include an actual date of filming somewhere in your videos.
    That will help us plan our next trip to KI at around the same time next year (and hopefully get similar results).

      @fishingsister  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! Yes this series was filmed over two weeks at Easter. Beautiful weather compared to now :) Good idea to include the month that the filming took place. FYI we will be releasing a covering video in October that summarises our whole trip with the aim of helping people plan their trip to KI if they fancy a bit of fishing while there. BTW we are also planning to take a small group of people over next year for a land based fishing experience. It is in the planning stages now so keep an eye out!

    great video!
    have you tried soft plastics or lures? great for flathead and many other fish

    • @fishingsister
      @fishingsister  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! I have not used plastics before and have rarely used lures. This is something I have been thinking about trying actually.
