Tengen Uzui's Nichirin Blades : [Demon Slayer] Season 2

- The making of Tengen Uzui's Nichirin Blades from season 2 of the Demon Slayer Anime. Much like the making of Tanjiro's Katana, this video is shot more like a documentary of the San Mai Japanese bladesmithing kitchen knife only much much longer. Tengen duel wields a pair of large Nichirin blades that are connected by a chain. We forge the blade from wrought iron from the 1800's with a high carbon edge insert using the hot dog in the bun technique. We forge the blade and grind and polish it. The quench for the heat treat is in water. We made the Tsuba in tachi style with layered sepa and a raised copper border. We forge some bronze for the rest of the fittings. I think this Wide katana or huge kitchen knife came out very well and represents what the sword from the Demon Slayer Anime would be like in the real life if it were to exist. With next season of demon slayer coming, how fitting is it's name "To The Swordsmith Village" ?

Why so late I think it will be sold in a blink if you post it early as you post this video
@@peenoisedotooooo we just decided to sell it.
I can't load the website😭😭
When I’m old enough and have the money 💴 I would definitely buy this one day for sure I would

Probably not the most cost effective kitchen knife out there but I like the passion.
I disagree. Its probably the most effective knife for slicing watermelons or other similarly large fruits
*F L A M B O U Y A N T*
@@NumbDogma69185 No Watermelons were harmed in the making of this video!
depends on what you are cutting.
Humm...japanese kitchen knives are really expensive tho
Even in anime/video game inspired builds, Ilya’s love and respect for historic blade techniques shows.
We try to show important techniques even in the most silliest of builds
As a fellow engineer - software, not smithing - one thing has become clear in my career: there are very few 'trivial' tasks. All tasks deserve respect when building something.
Even a silly build reaffirms proven techniques and teaches valuable lessons.
@@TheAsvarduilProject well said!
A lion hunts even a rabbit with all his might
@@ramonpizarrolions don't hunt rabbit as they aren't worth the energy for the small amount of meat
Canonically, in Demon Slayer the swords the Corps receives are made with very specific techniques made by a very small number of extremely talented swordsmiths. Every single one is a work of art on its own, and the smiths get *very* mad if anything ever happens to one.
You can see why
Imagine working for months, years even to make a blade just for some pig guy to hammer it with a rock
Makes me wonder if Uzui did the same with his blades since the holes look rather big...
@@charlescaulkins8306 Honestly the fact that the Hole is that Big, and not only that also "Clean" makes me believe he probably commissioned it that way.
Compare that to Inosuke Shredded Sword, you can see that not only it is Jagged well somewhat it also wasn't clean.
@@RandomL0s3rit takes them like a week
@@dbzenolukeNo it doesn't it takes months every time tanjirou broke his sword he waited a few months before getting a replacement.
This made me appreciate the swordsmith village arc even more. It’s so surreal and amazing when your favorite piece of art gets manifested into reality ❤
The staggering range of Ilya's skill set is truly remarkable.
Indeed. I love watching the man work. I started watching the Man At Arms videos here on YT, then got into Forged in Fire and I freaked out when I saw Ilya show up there.
@@KamenRiderGumo as soon as he stepped onto the floor, i knew hed walk away winning. its Ilya.
He just needs to work on his forge toasting skils, it was a bit burned. But that's about the only thing i can think of.
I still demand to see some of his paintings
This is quite...flashy!
Dattebayo! Oh sorry wrong anime
I will always appreciate that no matter how ridiculous or outlandish the weapon, it's approached with a realistic and respectful manner to make it real. Not just a decorative piece but a functional and true piece of art. Ilya and Matt are without a doubt, the finest smith's I've ever seen and it's always a pleasure to watch them work and to be educated by them.
After 6 years of being a student of this craft, Matt and Ilya remain my favorite teachers, by far. Thank you both for all you do!
Nice try
This is what i miss seeing swords from pop culture. Thanks for your hard work it looks great!
This is why you guys are my favorite forging channel! Would love some historical Chinese or north African sword builds. Maybe a Gundao or a shotel
Thanks for watching and thanks for the suggestions!
Nine ringed boardsword
You took one of my least favorite blades from the series and not only made it interesting, but absolutely beautiful. You guys are artists of the highest caliber.
Thank you Frater! At the start of the project we decided that we didnt have time to do another one of the Katana from the series. That's why we chose this one. In the end we spent almost the same amount of time on this as we would of a Katana...
Why is it least favorite? It looks tuff
probably one of the best blades in KNY imo.
All the blades are same except tengens.
@@bu11ymaguire pretty much. There a couple dif ones
The fact that you guys used the big knife as a kitchen knife amazes me. Truly you are masters of your craft.
I imagine you have some of the best "all the way through" viewer counts on youtube. It doesn't really matter how long the videos get.
Sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t…
I really appreciate that you guys always go the extra mile to show the more realistic versions of some of these anime weapons. Everybody who watches anime should know how ridiculous some of these designs are. The fact you can capture such a close likeness with real techniques not paint and fake parts that would just fall off or fade if the weapon was actually used is why you guys are some of the best on the platform.
my favorite thing about you guys even when you were at the other channel is that you didnt shy away from non traditional weapons nor did you complain. you did this because it was what you got into the job for creating art weather it be real or not, youve touched real weapons to stuff from movies and anime and games.
It goes to show that simplicity is always stunningly beautiful and flamboyant. Tengen Uzui would be very proud to have this piece of art.
Damn i just remembered how underrated your skills are . 1k likes you guys deserve better skill like this takes decades to hone and yet people ignore such talent that you mastered through trial and error i hope this channel thrives in the near future
Thank you and I hope it does as well
I love his sword the most out of all the swords in the show, absolutely stunning
It is a privilege to watch Ilya work, the attention to detail, the dedication to a mostly forgotten art, the respect for traditional practices. Everything put together is a pleasure to watch an artist at work. On top of that everyone else's work is also amazing to watch.
I love how the blade has three color tones, and the delicious demo.
I am not a big fan of fantasy blades, but the way you guys use traditional techniques and explain everything along the way is great.
Exactly, I much prefer traditional blades or at the very least realistic blades. This is just dumb, beautiful and well made, but dumb.
После меча Танджиро очень ждал клинки Удзуя. Просто великолепная работа! Илья и Мэт, Ваш профессионализм и любовь к деталям каждый раз заставляют меня улыбаться.
A masterpiece of anime based forges. Thank you That Work crew. Looking forward to the other projects you have planned for 2023.
Your commitment to traditional techniques and showing every step of the process to the best of your ability really is impressive. Keep up the excellent work
This is how (long) all your final reveals should have been :))
Lovely looking piece!
This is amazing and well made! Would love to see Rengoku's nichirin or the Dragon sword next 😲😲👌
Or maybe Rangiku Matsumoto's Haineko blade from "Bleach"...
Greetings from the Philippines!
thanks for keeping such a tradition alive :D
i love this team , Ilya is the best smith I've seen and Matt is the best with the grinder!
You are too kind!
鬼滅の刃ファンというだけでなく、しっかりと日本刀の構造、美しさを理解されて作っている姿に感動しました✨

Make Tozama from Jujutsu Kaisen. Maybe as a quick yotube short or something ( I literally have no idea how much time it'd take though)

always amazing seeing you guys work the fantasy build and definitely taking the time showing the process on camera.
Absolutely beautiful build...
Thank you for your dedication and craftmanship and thank you for the long close-up shots ! The blades you guys make are all masterpieces and i think we all love to see them upclose and from every angle !
My favorite part of your videos isn't even the weapons. Its just amazing to see masters at work at their craft. The swords are cool but the masters are aweinspiring.
Ilya is so skilled, damn. Ilya and Matt are the real deal. Legit.
Could you please forge someday a Zorro-inspired rapier using Damascus steel? Thank you and keep up the great work and content!
Absolutely loved the video and the direction you guys took with this build!
That's amazing! I love how you bring it to life by creating it just like it was imagined.
Awesome video, so much respect for Ilia, the classical music was a nice addition.
The jokes at the end were brilliant, i dont feel a need to say this really but great work as always, this channel always truely lives up to the profession of blacksmithing, the techniques, history, and products are always stunning to me
Fantastic work as always guys. These episodes that strike a balance between historical and pop culture always tend to be some of my favourites.
As far as episode ideas go id really like to see a build that explores some unusual techniques that we haven't really seen from you guys before.
Theres plenty of examples both pop culture and historical that i think could be good for that but the one that comes to mind at the moment is the Godskin Peeler from Elden Ring. I feel like between the shotel like blade, the double sided nature, the corkscrew like spike and the detailing on the handle and fittings that it would offer plenty of opportunities to do some really interesting work
" 'destroyer of demons' ... or 'sushi' ... i'm not sure"
5 points for honesty
I think this is one of the best projects I've seen you guys do over the years. Very very well done and so close to source material!
Thank you! We tried to stay as close to the source material as possible, but also trying to give it a more "realistic" feel.
Would love to visit their forge and see Ilya at work. Truly a great craftsman.
Tengen Uzui will be proud of this build. Bet he will sneak at night when no one is around to steal that art, besides he is a Shinobi. 💯👌🏽
Если в кадре Илья, значит видео будет офигенным!))
Incredible work! Not sure if I missed it, but how did the blade get that slight "golden" hue at the end? Speaking of end, that ending was hilarious :D
This is the first video I seen on this channel. That's pretty cool. Looks like a found a new Chanel to binge. Tengen is badass
You are a true artist. Greetings from Argentina.
Qualquer um pode Pintar um quadro, mas uma obra de arte dessas bem poucos, parabéns irmão você é um artista de verdade.
A lot of work in the planning and interpretation that paid off big time. Appreciate your hard work.
Gorgeous work, gentlemen
I love Ilya's work. it's my favorite,
It's so traditional and old (for lack of a better word) it feels like I'm 100 years in the past watching a Master Smith at work
I love how Illya is like, "yeah, it's a giant kitchen knife, but its still a sword 🙄"
Thanks for the extended footage of the finished product! Great work!
Love the more “realistic” look you give the pop culture projects, they always turn out so cool!
Another fantastic video! All the way from the actual craftsmanship in the sword, to the video itself with the filmography, editing, and music.
God of blacksmithing!
Hello from Russia,
I watched all the seasons of this beautiful anime and I can say that the blacksmiths there love their work so much that they hid from everyone. But you...I don't even have the words to describe what you have created with your own hands. This is not just a large and weighty kitchen knife, it is above the usual word masterpiece. I have been following your channel for quite a long time and I can safely say that you are raising the bar of your splendor higher and higher.
I wish you great luck and will continue to follow your channel)
great video guys! Tengen's swords were one of my favorites from the anime, I'm glad to see you guys put so much love and attention into this project, very well done
"Destroy all demons. Or sushi... I don't know" killed me
Even a year later and this is still one of the most perfect builds you guys have done, hit the mark perfectly for every step and reasoning! Keep doing what you’re doing guys! 🔥🔥
So glad to see IIya his skill is unmatched
Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship with youtube again. I am always impressed with the historical context and understanding that accompanies your work in these videos. I would love to see more about your day-to-day work and what it takes to keep the bills paid in a trade like yours in the modern era.
Awesome seeing a full build again...been a while...thanks Guys
This is a thing of pure beauty! It's so nice to see the old techniques and materials. Thanks to you both!
Love the video. Broke out into laughter at the text message and kitchen knife demo section. XD
you guys are full of talent! well done, from the forging to the grinding this is breathtaking
Amazing work as always guys ! Really enjoy seeing the piece come together and the editing of the video as well !! Both a joy to watch!!
Iliya, didn't know you had your own channel, man! Good for you!
Love the passion and the attention to details, you guys are the best at doing those builds !
More phenomenal work, guys! Thanks for the hard work and stellar careful craftsmanship!
That came out beautifully. I always appreciate how you guys talk about what you're doing for a build. I'm no blacksmith, but I have learned a lot from watching your channel.
Can't wait to see what you guys do next!
For me what makes this blacksmithing channel stand out from the others I watch is the history.
We appreciate that my friend !
Ilya! I'm so happy to find you again. Now to binge all the other videos on the channel
Side note..."IT WILL... MAKE A SANDWICH" said in the voice of Doug Marcaida. 😉 all jokes aside, I love it!
This blade turned out not only amazing but truly artistic
This here is what it looks like to put your heart and soul into something, absolutely beautiful work. Thank you for putting so much time an effort into something like this to share with us
My absolutely favorite thing about your work is your traditional techniques and it has always been entertaining to watch and you explain so well
@That Works really liking this style of video, always a pleasure to watch
Ilya is truly a master of his craft, such dedication and skill. Truly beautiful.
I'm so glad I found you guys!!!
I really love your narratives as you show the build process. Really gives meaning to the whole video and the essence of your mastery!
Very impresive , thank you for the hard work, i love your channel.
Watching Ilya forging&explaining is like watching wizard casting high-level spell for educational purposes :)
Beautiful Creation
This is the most beautiful sword i have ever seen. Imagine real life Tengen holding this
That's the most beautiful kny sword i've ever seen
Great video as always. Loved the phone call portion. It was a great way to start my day, before heading into the shop. I just hope Tsetsco, shows up while I'm working. That would be cool.
It’s crazy to see this man grow on CZcams. Lost the beard and is losing his accent. Talent is very much still there!
Beautifully done 10/10 💯🫡
Wow so beautiful amazing work for the start of the new year! 🔥🔥
Beautiful work guys.
I love the cinematography .. beautiful work
THE ART AT IT"S BEST ! You've put so much heart and soul in this work and this sword look so cool 🔥🔥🔥
Another beautiful piece
Dude the music that was used for this entire video was awesome but the music for the quench was especially well-suited it was absolutely perfect for that moment
This is so bad ass thanks for the videos guys ❤️
