Hugely underrated game. Yeah it has its problems like dodgy collision detection, load times that last forever and a lack of variety with the executions but the art style, story and cutscenes were awesome. They should at least continue this as a Comic or something. Love Rick's design in this kinda reminds me of John Cena with a mask on though 😂
I've dug it out and I'm playing through the arena mode. So cool that it includes all the classic Splatterhouses too. The whole series in 1 game minus Wanpaku Graffiti which is a cutesy spin off.
What I love aswell is the masks personality. It's just so good. And despite everything it never betrays Rick even at the end when Rick thinks it's over the mask knows and sticks to him. I don't know I just really love that. But sadly I really doubt they will make another one.

Interesting that the storyline of this splatterhouse makes reference to Lovecraft, the spell though used to summon the monsters that help to kidnap the girl means : "Chutulu leaves in his house in R'lyeh" . Pretty cool that they used lovecraftian references (the Chutulu mythos also known as the necronomicon cycle is not dead). They also make a reference to Shub Nyghorath (the mother of a thousand young)
Also Dr Henry West is based on Herbert West from the Cthulhu mythology. Then there’s also the Corrupted that based on The Outer Gods or The Great Old Ones

Bandai Namco REALLY need to bring back Splatterhouse. Hell it would have been so cool to see Rick pop up in the Cross Zone games as a playable character along with all the monsters as enemies and then even the 2010 version as his partner.
This REALLY reminds me of "Evil Dead: Regeneration" The loading menus, door guardian mouths, doctor with a female love interest hostage, gameplay, teleporting from level to level, a wise-cracking sidekick, and even the intro where you get your powerups to acquaint you with them despite not unlocking them until later.
Loved this remake! Seriously underrated! Wish we could've got a sequel or least one more chapter as DLC that would've finished the game. Cliff hanger endings should be illegal.

I loved the fact they went with a twist open end on the off chance they do another to continue rebooting the original trilogy. sadly a lot of people were not of the same opinion since while this did have it's flaws as a game I'm sure they would've improved the combat a lot more especially in next gen systems.
I agree, Namco should remake this game & give the justice it deserves. Re-hire the same voice actors, make the graphics more polished, as well the gameplay by building it in Unreal Engine 4 & also make this available on PS4, Xbox One & PC(Steam or GOG). Not to mention, have the original Arcade game & both Sega Genesis sequels also included in the new remake for next gen. Basically, not repeat the same mistakes that happened with the 2010 release.
This one was one of the reasons for buying xbox 360 not a long time ago, the first game I played on it. This one is definetely underestimated, compared to lots of the same looking games this days it had its own style and story
When you realise The Mask is the voice of SATAM's Robotnik. Also I really feel as though it isn't Lenora who came back at the end but someone The Mask knows, shame it won't be concluded in another game but then again West mentioned about something repeating as an endless cycle, so I assume it all loops on itself, which would explain why theres no sequel if it were not for many people who were employed making Splatterhouse got taken off the company.

I bought this game day 1, I got so hyped when I first say the trailers and what not and it really didn't disappoint me. I know it has some issues but honestly it was a really fun game. I liked being able to take a look back at it but I think you lose a bit of extra information when it's just cut scenes, as a lot of the story is told while you are actually playing the game. Still an excellent video though. :D
Absolutely.. I think it's a very underrated game.. although it has some audio issues and glitches the game is amazing and knowing what a development hell it went through, it's surprising how good this game is !
Project Raw Underrated is definitely the word. I don't remember the game being too buggy but that's probably just because I had such a blast playing it. I really hope this isn't the last Splatterhouse but I've long ago gave up on any hopes of a sequel; the best we can expect is probably a reboot of some sort. =(

way the mask works, reminds me of like, sorta, mask, in terms of his humor, scary thing tho, is, he reminds me of the stone masks from jojo's bizarre adventure more, taking your humanity, or blood anyway, in exchange for great power? though they never talked, but look how it was like that aztech or whatever coffin/sarcophacus he was in, similar , no?
