- My wife has wanted a raised garden bed for a long time, so my daughter and I built her one for Mother's Day. It's a simple project that used left over cedar decking boards we got for free from our neighborhood. We'll show how we made a simple and functional raised garden bed out of 5/4 deck boards and 1x10 cedar.
Tools and materials used:
5/4 cedar deck boards
1x10 cedar boards
Dewalt Sliding Compound Miter Saw
Vintage Craftsman Table Saw
Titebond III glue

I really love all this videos with your daughter. It's awesome that she loves building with you in the shop, and her voiceover is 💯
Thank you, JZ! I love doing these with her too. We are trying to find the right project for her to do entirely by herself, or at least with minimal help from me. Stay tuned!
@@WhiteLabWorkshop Oh I can't wait!
That is really a nice garden bed.I bet it will last for years.I know your wife must love it.
Thank you, Rita! She does love it!
That's a really nice homemade gift for Mother's Day 🙂
Thank you, sir! She loves it!
I sure do love it!
Hello my friend.
A beautiful design for the garden. Plant chest. You have created the raised garden bed beautiful. It always works great. Congratulations on the project and the way it works smartly, hiding great experiences. See you. great greetings. Best regards.
Thank you! We had a lot of fun making this together!
@@WhiteLabWorkshop yes it was a fun work. Congratulations. See you.
Great job guys and what a wonderful team 😊 With such a confident director, I mean daughter 😂, you will have no problem building perfect projects in the future Brent 😊 Blessings to you all there 😊ॐ
Thank you, Chris! This was a lot of fun to work on together. My shop buddy definitely keeps me on task!
I know the feeling well Brent 😂 Moments to treasure 😊 ॐ
That was just tremendous fun to watch. Your assistant is very good with woodworking but she is awesome with the voice over! I hate to say it but she is far better than her father or me!
Thanks, Richard! I definitely agree with you! The crazy thing is I just let her do her thing and she recorded and edited all her own audio. Pretty soon I’ll just be the shop buddy!
@@WhiteLabWorkshop After what you just admitted to... you are already the shop buddy. She is a natural!
Fantastic teamwork mate, Mum will be very happy & a homegrown harvest is the best 👍👍👍
Thank you, Dirk! We definitely had a blast making this one!
Great build!! Bet your mother is proud!!
Thanks man! She is very proud! My shop buddy is pretty awesome!
Good job to you and your daughter! Great addition to your beautiful garden.
Thank you, Don! These projects that we work together on our my favorite.
Nice diy gift for Mother’s Day! Great family project.
Thanks man! We enjoyed all aspects of this one. Making it, giving it, and using it!
Very nice! I like how high it is!
Thanks, man! It’s the perfect height for my wife and kids. I just have to stay away from it now so whatever they try to grow has a chance 😆
Beautiful garden bed, thanks for the video.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Turned out great Brent! Enjoyed the build and great to see you using leftover wood to make this awesome project!
Thanks, Jeff! When a post went out across our neighborhood for free cedar lumber, I was over there immediately :)
@@WhiteLabWorkshop well yeah!
Great build! Enjoy the greens 🥬
Thanks, Mike! We sure plan to!
You both done a great job
Thank you, sir!
Nice video WLW!
Thanks, MMM!
👍👍👍👍👍
Great idea 👍
Thank you! My wife sure thought so!
nicely made, I can see what you're doing here. In years to come you won't be getting the Dad can you come fix this and that phone calls. She'll be set to do it herself. Dam wish I had done that 🙂
Haha! Thanks, Shaun! You’re on to my plan!
Great work! 🙌🏻👌🏻 Love the simplicity, easy to follow build and I have to say the voice over is great. Ps what veggies are you growing in there?
Thanks, Kirstie! We tried to keep it really straightforward, so I’m happy to hear that worked out! And my shop buddy will definitely help me with more voice overs in future videos! For veggies, we’ve been struggling. There’s too much sun where we put it, so nothing has taken. We need to either try something more hearty or relocate the table.
Awesome stuff. Like the hight...
Thanks, Harki! A good height is pretty key.
White Lab Workshop I have a bad back, trust me In that.. lol
Longhorn Workshop Haha! I imagine so!
free wood? Oh those were the days
Right?!?!
Well done! (I'm only bothered about the table saw without the riving knife...)
Thanks man! About the riving knife, my saw is too old to have one. So I plan to go with a splitter option some time soon. I appreciate your concern!
@@WhiteLabWorkshop
I actually don't have such saw but only learned about the kickbacks from some videos.
Go for the splitter 👌
@@XDIY Kickback is definitely a valid concern. I had it happen one time when I was doing an awkward cut of a big sheet of 1/4 inch plywood. I was standing in a completely safe spot and recognized the kickback about to happen and just let go. It was pretty impressive to see a piece of plywood the size of a drawer bottom go flying like that. Since then, I've been much more careful about my cuts and started looking into what my options were for added safety on an old saw.
@@WhiteLabWorkshop Wow... Be safe 💪
Looks great. What are you going to grow?
Apparently something hearty. The spot it sits in gets a lot of sun and we’ve had struggles keeping things alive there since we put it to use in the spring. My wife will get it figured out. She’s got a green thumb for sure!
Looks great, but i think you missed mother's Day by a couple of months 🤣
Haha! Only the video missed Mother’s Day. I’ve been too busy to put this video together until now, but we delivered it on the day. Crisis averted 😁. Thanks for watching, Grant!
@@WhiteLabWorkshop if you say so Brent 🤣🤣
