    Hi everyone, for the past 15 years or so my air cleaner has been attached to the ceiling of the shop. I never really liked the way it looked up there and thought an air cleaner storage cabinet for under the table saw would be a good solution and a good use for otherwise wasted space. I’m convinced that this new location will result in more air filter maintenance which can only be a good thing. I hope you like the video and thanks for watching…Jon

    You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice czcams.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

    It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better czcams.com/users/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

    As a brand new viewer to your channel, I thought this was a great build and refreshing to see someone use some precision and step back to screw construction instead of pocket holing everything. I'd like to build a cabinet for my new saw as a project and will use this as a guide, ty.

    Great idea! I am planning to build a small fan-based air filter for my tiny shop but have no where to put it. It will fit great under my table saw and I can have the bigger box with multiple filters.
    I often wonder why all the air filters are up in the air when the debris falls towards the floor...

    I just recently purchased two of the Jet Air cleaner units that use the 12 by 24 inch filter. I mounted one to my ceiling already and it was a pain as I hard mounted it and did not use the chain, I used steel tract that is used to install heavy garage door openers. The other unit is sitting in my floor waiting for me to install it on the ceiling, But seeing your setup make for a more practical use of the air cleaner. and Like you I already do not like the air cleaner mounted up on the ceiling. to hard to get to the air filter to change as I went with Hepa and merv 13 filters.

    Cool build and absolutely an idea to consider. However, isn't it so that the finest particles, and those of most concern for air quality, will swivel mostly in the upper parts of the room, while the bigger ones will fall to the ground, etc? *Jay Bates* (in his previous shop?) made a DIY air cleaner and by adjusting the angel of the 'exhaust' he was able to optimize the air flow in the room and noticeably improved the cleaning.

      @@JonPetersArtHome I'm not sure if you know but Jay's model was a mobile floor unit, and I think one of the reasons he built it was for easy/frequent cleaning. I link his video: czcams.com/video/Uzpn09OIyqw/video.html
      I have no idea if you're interested, see the need or if its possible to adapt this concept to your model. In any case, both of you made me inspired to see if I can make something that could work for my shop (bcs of fragile lungs I really should take better care of my dust situation). In any case, thanks you too.

    Hey John: Love the channel. Recently discovered it and have been binge-watching. Wondering - are you happy with the air cleaner down under the table saw table or would you rather it up in the air above the shop? I recently bought one and am planning a build similar to yours, but just wondered if it’s as effective down near the ground vs up in the air? How’s it been since you made the change?

  • @andrewbrown8148
    @andrewbrown8148 Před 2 lety

    Nice build, Jon~! Just wondering, do you feel that the air cleaner will be as effective down low for the fine particulate as it was mounted at the ceiling? Mine is mounted about 8'-10' feet up in my shop (open ceiling pole barn) and I'll admit that it probably needs cleaning way more often than what it gets. Wait, have I cleaned it yet since hanging it up?? ; - )
