The Wonderkid from Nowhere

- In a world where every player at every club is scouted extensively from the age of 10, it feels impossible for a potential superstar, a bonafide wonderkid, to emerge from nothing to European stardom in less than a year. But that is exactly what is happening in Belgium and it’s a story so riddled with fortune and timing you can’t help but wonder who else may have slipped through the cracks.
This kid is scoring goals at a Haaland-like pace and recently set the record for the fastest hat trick in European club competition history. A year ago, he was an amateur in a place so far off the radar of international scouting that it is impossible to find on Google. And Google knows everything. So if Google can’t find it, it certainly is not real.
Much Love,
The Zealand

One could say he is a gift to football.
That’s so clever, how’d you come up with that?
🙊💯🎁
One *COULD* say that, but one isn't going to.
He’s always present in the box 🙌
He can really wrap his foot around the ball
Norway has had some amazing African players come through, especially Nigerians. Players like John Obi-Mikel, Odion Ighalo and Datro Fofana, whom Chelsea just signed, had their breakthrough in Norway
I believe Gent have one of the best youth facilities in europe so its a smart move! i get confused with gent and genk in belgium though!
Could Oban get citizenship and play upfront for Norway with Haaland?
@@GuinessOriginal No, he would have to stay for several years to get citizenship, and he only stayed at Stabæk for a short period. He will also undoubtetly get called up to the Nigerian squad soon
@@mattjames6349 that would be Genk indeed ;-) (Courtois, De Bruyne, Origi, Benteke, Trossard, Carrasco etc). Gent has decent youth setup but not a lot of youngsters coming through to the first team let alone international level.

As a Gent fan Im blown away by his preformance every game, zealand even forgot to mention his shenanigans on the pitch like a shot at goal from a kickoff or his bicycle kick that nearly went in against West Ham, Orban just oozes confidence and I hope Gent will get to enjoy him for at least another season.

I hope you keep him for a while too so he develops more. I support Chelsea and I don't like how they're dealing with Datro Fofana, especially when Kai Havertz sucks so much and there's literally nothing to play for.

As a Nigerian, it's nice to see more and more of our players making a name for themselves on the big stages
I think this next generation of players will do well for us in the next world cup
Bad national team coach and NFA mismanagement of players is our major problem. With good coaching crew we should have the best national team in the world with the caliber of players Nigeria have scattered all over Europe and beyond.
Bro if every nigerian played for their country especially in this era, Nigeria would be a force to reckoned with. Its such a shame. Look at the music industry, look at how Nigerians perform abroad. Togo is a reeeeally poorly developed country. It's basically a single strip of land with a road that goes all the way deep into the country and then it ends. The capital is the port city and there's some mapped settlements around the big road, the rest are small villages spread around the rest of that strip. The anthem of the country doesn't say something like "defend the nation" it says "brave togolese let's defend the CITY". Freaking wild.

They don't pay as much for their players and have three strikers
Great to see Gift fulfilling his dream and getting recognition. But there are many players like that in Nigeria. Just hoping to somehow get to Europe.
Watched him score a worldie against anderlecht whilst on a trip to Belgium, this guy is the real deal
Really enjoying the news/story video's, Zealand. I've been a long-time local fan of Ghent and the only time I'd seen someone as prolific as Gift on the pitch was when we had Jonathan David through our ranks. The crazy thing being that David took multiple years, also in our youth setups, to find his scoring boots for Ghent. Gift had barely touched the ball and he was already Ghent's most valuable star/prospect. Our club's been going through a tough time the past few years, but the buzz around Gift makes us hopeful for the future. Thanks for covering this!
Buffalo!
Bros got the confidence, balls, and tekkers. A little bit more on the physical side and he's gonna light the world.

Such a great video , from the research to the editing, top, top video bro. I pray chelsea go all in on this guy. I too have been keeping track on him and man everytime I check Belgium league scores and stuff I’m like bro this dude scored AGAIN??
Man he’s so impressive and what you said about his mentality and being like ronaldo where he knows where he wants the ball at his feet and that he gets mad when he doesn’t get it, but in a good way(think of that how you will) is so good to hear and I think he’s got IT. Oh man I’ve got a great feeling abt this. Would love to see chelsea play that 4-1-2-1-2 under poch and have guys like broja, fofana, nkunku, and gift all fight for places up top with mudryk maybe dropping into the freeroaming 10 role. Mac allister seems to be heavily wanted by chels too so he fits at RCM as that creative box to box mid, then whoever we get for 6 role, and Enzo at the left. Or mac could be LCM, doesn’t matter. I think it’s absolutely perfect for how we will set up under poch and he fits his tactics too. So many good young strikers out here nowadays and we’ve got 2-3 of them already. Hope we add this guy in and have all of them fighting and hungry for places, as the 2 striker formation should be able to fit all of them and their different ways of playing. It compliments everyone !
Thanks your video is one of the most interesting things I’ve seen in quite a while. with great info like tifo’s.
Remember where JayJay Ochoa is from???

As a huge Gent fan for my entire life, 3 months after this video, I'm sad to see him go to Tottenham, even though this is best for his bright future. He joined in the later half of the 22-23 season, which wasn't enough to put Gent in the playoffs this year, even though we were winning nearly everything with him. Thanks Orban for taking us on one hell of a ride, even if it was short lived
As a Brentford fan - if we were to sell Wissa, than Orban I think would be perfect replacement, confidant and with a good shot

Thank you for the intro to Gift Orban 👍🏽
Hey, I’m from Norway and about every single one of your pronunciation is dead on. Even the teams🫶
he started to realize that he didn't have much time to show everyone what he could do, but he kept his head down and stepped up his game and now he's seen around the world. What is there to say except pressure makes diamonds.
I have a season ticket at Gent, he's awesome. Never stops running. Hong in Central midfield is worth a look too.
I've seen some of his games and somethimes he's great somthimes he's average but this kid shoots alot, and thus scores alot too i've seen him shoot from places that are crazy. This weekend he decided to shoot from the kickoff hitting the crossbar. I like that. I don't like when players are at the edge of the box and try to pas the ball instead of trying a shot.
dude took Bluelock literally
That's the mark of a great striker imo, because despite them potentially having a poor game they might pop up with a goal. Look at Osimhen, Lewandowski, Kane and most other great strikers from the past 5-10 years and they all share the trait of shooting a lot. The best strikers in the world miss the most chances.
It wasnt the 2nd half kickoff, it was the start of the game. He just shot and hit the crossbar
@its_me4182 Yes you're right.
Bro you are top tier CZcamsr when it comes to video scripts and I think you should be recognized for it
Great job, informative and funny, subbed. SPURS SIGN GIFT ASAPPPP. I watched his goals, this man is going to be a star, like elite level star, guaranteed. As he can finish on both feet with power. This alone is extremely rare, so rare I can't think of many players I've ever seen that can even do it. Kane is one and Son to a lesser extent.
I saw him playing several times, for his age he s very mature playing too...
Those are the players you are going to a stadium to watch them play!
Hopes he stays in Gent 4 another season
He was a 'gift' for our competition, he's very enthousiastic, really behaves like a raw diamond, enjoying every moment. He was angry put on the bench to rest for one game though, and hen he came on and scored (of course), he didn't really celebrate and ignored his coach completely after the game. So the statement of professionalism is not accurate at this moment ;) But he feels genuine, it's very rare to see such a raw diamond on every level, and everybody loves him because of that.
Not sure what everybody is basing this stuff about him being "crazy" off.
Well, having lived in Flanders for a decade, I do...
what, in my opinion, strongly indicates future success is his mentality. how many players have we seen have a sudden rise and let it get to their head. he went from Togo to Norway. that could have made him complacent. then he went from the 2nd team to the first team. THAT could have made him complacent. Then he moves to a much harder league and dominates. it’s crazy to see someone maintain this level
