    I bought and own “21”R/S, I had the “exclusive” model which has everything on it (not heated seat) and I had full bmw luggage the price was £15.5k. I’ve just put some Metzeller M9’s on it and that has really livened up the handling 😊 at 59 years old and riding mostly sports bikes for the last 40 years I am still over the moon with it 😊👍🏻👍🏻

    I have the R1250R 2022 and I must admit it's technically the best bike I've ever ridden/owned. It's very comfortable, can be very laid back but also pretty sporty when needed. The torque is the highlight of the bike. Still not quite fond of the looks, bikes before this were the Z900RS and Triumph Bobber but purely from a riding-standpoint and what it offers, it's fantastic.

    I brought a 1250R in '22 thinking they're the "underrated hidden gem" of the BMW line. Now I've got one I realise they're everywhere, you just never take a second look. Great bike though, lot of character and a surprising amount of boogie. Heavy as all hell though.

  • @thierryfaquet7405

    The R 1250 R is certainly ine of the most underrated bike (outside Germany, where they sell plenty).
    Yeah it’s not the most powerfull naked, yes it’s expensive. But just try one if you are a big naked bike rider and you will most likely end up buying one.
    The torque, the smoothness, the comfort, the precision it’s just an excellent package.

    • @porpletrommler8172
      @porpletrommler8172 Před rokem

      So true. I ended up buying one yesterday 😊 Unbelievable torque starting at 2000 rpm combined with smoothness and precision. Never had so much fun on a test ride; hope they deliver soon, dealer was talking about 8 to 10 weeks delivery time here in Germany.

      I've owned the R and the RS. Take the handlebar from the RS and stick it on the R, and then the R is simply the best boxer bike that BMW has, hands down.

    • @inked-96
      @inked-96 Před 5 měsíci

      Can it be made into a touring machine? I love the look of the 1250R more than the RS. But I just feel the wind blast after some long days would start to make me fatigued?

    • @thierryfaquet7405
      @thierryfaquet7405 Před 5 měsíci

      @@inked-96 since you’re asking on youtube comment’s I’ll assume you’re doing very light touring. So yes, they definitely can.
      But if you are planning to actually do multiples days touring regularly I would suggest checking the RT or the GS range (even the K if budget is large)

    • @inked-96
      @inked-96 Před 5 měsíci +2

      @thierryfaquet7405 Currently, I have a GSA, and it's not for me. I want more fun but have the ability to tour. To me, the GSA is awful. I did some light green lanes with it, but I didn't like it. Too heavy. I rode 99% on the road and fell for the GS trap. So, looking at selling my GSA, I should see 11k and funding the 1200R and keeping 4.5k in my pocket. I'm just hoping a little screen can reduce some of the wind blast.

  • @TheWrittleRider
    @TheWrittleRider Před rokem +6

    Great video giving overall specs on the bikes.
    If you want a sports bike then these bikes are not what you want to go for.
    I’ve owned an R1200R and now a R1250R and to be honest this is a bike for everything you will ever need (except off road and track). Commute, Tour Europe and Sunday blast ☑️ ☑️ ☑️
    For some reason this has been one of the best overlooked bikes for a while now and for people who don’t want a sports bike, who want something that is fast and fun yet sensible and comfortable I don’t think there is another bike in production today that can beat it.
    Plus you have to remember even at 4000 rpm in any gear on this bike you will be breaking the law.
    More speed / torque is simply not needed unless your off to the track or the autobahn.
    As for the look of the bike, well every bike looks one way or another and beauty is in the eye of the beholder 😁.
    I love the R1250R, but the 2023 updates won’t be enough to get me to chop in my 2019 version.
    All the best and thanks for so many good reviews.

With the Dynamic Mode there’s no way to get rid of this Boxer in the twisties, it’s wonderful for travelling (even with Sozia), relaxed Leg-position, nice finish … best roadster ever (for taller person, who looks funny on a r9t) fully underestimated ❤

RS is great as a sport tourer, but the slight fork offset and rake difference to the R made me raise the forks on my RS to get it to move around as well as the R. The RT is a great tourer, and will hustle in the corners, but is really a grandpa couch. The GS, well, it's the GS, we know what it's all about. That said, I hate the telelever on the RT and GS. The K felt faster in how it delivered power and was smoother. My first RS had significantly more carrying capacity with the OEM hard cases.

      I haven’t ridden the R19 but I’ve owned my R1250R since 2019. I’ve added the factory fly screen, which makes it such a versatile bike: tour, cruise and scratch. My last few bikes were 600cc supersport screamers but when I retired I wanted a grown up bike and this fits the bill perfectly.

    I wish BMW would make a bike akin to the Suzuki GSX S1000F. A fully fared street bike, not 100 lb heavier than the sport bikes it's based on, could do some touring but not really a sport touring bike. Just a beautiful street bike with upright ergonomics.

      The 2013 K1300R is better in almost every way than the R1250R, same for the K1300S over the R1250RS, way quicker acceleration, faster top speed, 173hp, similar 140Nm torque, way better engine and exhaust sound, also electronic suspension, similar weight, better looking, etc. Try one.

    Love the RS, but wish BMW took the model into a slightly sportier direction. Also agree with the throttle mapping critique...also found it too lazy and not direct or sporty enough. Finally, the OEM rubber is rubbish, again too much touring focus and not enough sport. A good set a sport tyres with a more aggressive profile absolutely transforms the handling.

    BMW 1250 RS is one of those bikes that you can easily put into category “do it all kind of bike”
    Its small enough for urban riding big enough for 500 km touring (90% doesn’t have time for longer rides and if they find time than it’s once or maybe twice a year)
    Can be ridden by short and tall riders.
    Mechanically perfect, performance wise you’ll never need more, it’s agile enough, maintaining is easy (no chains) very good brakes, excellent electronic and suspension, premium fit and finish. And on top of it, there is real life “feel good factor” this bike provides.
    I know that GS owners will say NO, GS is “do it all kind of bike” but I will ask them only few questions, how many times you have ridden your GS off-road? 1% of your total mileage? So what is the point of owning the bike that is so capable off road and not be ridden in such conditions and in meantime you sacrifice all other categories that RS do it better?

    Had the R and loved riding it, but it didn’t stay in the stable because it was ugly. A year later bought the RS because of the great engine and I could stomach the looks. It didn’t stay in the stable because it steered slow much slower than the R. No fun when the road got twisty (R was much more fun).

    Nice round-up. Meh. BMW are still playing it too safe with the RS. The old 1100SS/1150S/Boxer Cup were great bikes - just needed updating with modern engines. They were super characterful and could be hustled for great fun. The new bikes are too commute/tour focussed and proper sit up and beg! Why would you swerve the GS for these? Also, take the badges off and they look awful -- generic like a Chinese bike from 15 year ago. Why can't anyone make a characterful, zesty sport tourer?
