A much needed video. You guys should do more for your all access plan with a full walkthrough about all the slate plugins and using them in real projects.
Maybe incorporate the SSL plugins which are offered as part of the complete access plan. Your loyal fanbase really deserves more than just once a while videos.
This is a great suggestion. We'll work on this!
@@SlateDigitalTV This would be incredible, thank you for considering doing this!
WOW...a video from Slate....about time!!!!
You should do a bit more on using slate plugins and how to use them on real projects and mixes breakdown using slate plugins...Plugins alliance is WAY ahead.....
im on the the subscription since 2015.. there are plenty of tutorials on the site.. there are also alot of videos on this page as well
Please create the option to use Slate plugins outside of the VMR, similar to Soundtoys or Snapping. It would make my work flow so much faster and more versatile. Thanks x
came here to request this also
Why? Literally, pull up VMR and only pull up the module you want.
@@deja0entendu making chains in Ableton would be so much faster.
it would have been nice to hear A/B.. once you made the changes you didn't go back to compare.
Love it. Great work guys
Thank you so much for making this video!
Love the Slate Digital Pluging, in combination with the solid state logic plugins it's Amazing.
Does it have GUI scaling now? It looked really small in 4K displays, was the main reason I opted out from the subscription last year.
In the new Cubase 13, the only plugins where I have scaling issues are Slate plugins. Almost unusable, when using two monitors with different resolutions.
I'm getting a vibe that you know only vaguely what you're doing with your own plug-in.
Most underrated and prob underutilized ..

Gotta get that -18db input to these modules. Just like the real thing.
The dialog in this video needs some serious deessing. I found it incredibly tough to watch on my phone. 😮
No issues on my laptop through a Scarlett and ILok speakers.
@@timn5008 try a handheld device. I'm traveling and it's my only source. I'm not alone in my reaction
Amazing that an audio plugins company would put out this video. It is almost unlistenable on my Mac speakers due to the extreme sibilance and heavy handed compression on the audio dialogue. Did you guys record this using VMR?
i'll just have to remember fondly the days when steven did these himself..🤷🏽♂. slate since 2015
He sold the company
I love my Slate Digital All Access Pass + 2-VRS8's, 2 ML1's, 2 ML2's & use VMR quite a bit (with Pro Tools Studio). But in this example all the V/U meters are driven well into the red upper limits. WHY??? I always turn the levels down on the presets to stop the levels going into the red.
That's a good question! I've noticed this too, and I always dial down the gain to keep those needles off the post. I think they're looking to add a bit of distortion with those pegged meters.
Ironically they're co fused as to what they're doing I think. They're clipping the sound and also adding sub bass after subbass lol.
why don't you guys have a camera angle from the back of your heads or under your chair. That would be really cool! Also, why is your dialog audio so bad. Are we not professionali!
Why are you so mad
what makes you think I am mad?@@DavidValles
Because of the exclamation points lmao "aRe We NoT pRoFesSiOnAl?!"@@moogfooger
it was actually Italian "professionali? The way you spelled it just now must have been very difficult for you. Cheers@@DavidValles
I guess you don't get what I was saying which is not surprising. The reason I made the comment was that it is ironic that an audio company would put out videos with poor quality dialog and bogus presenters who look like it was your first time in front of a camera. The stupid camera angle trick is the oldest in the book and was just plain distracting. Get some better talent next time and then you might be taken seriously that is if you really want to educate people. Cheers@@DavidValles
Hello all. Did anyone else perceive the audio of this video as overly compressed, and with a ton of sibilance? Thanks.
Unwatchable on a mobile device. I'll wait until I can watch in studio to make this more intelligible by rolling off all that harsh hi end.
Yes, certainly the compressed part.
Sounds good, but the navigation system within VMR when you have more than 6 modules loaded is a bit annoying and impractical actually... don't know how but you should improve it to be more agile. You also need more convincent guys presenting your videos, or at least more "attitude", and more "non-cliché" script by the way. With respect. A long time user over here,
Some of those were WAY TOO HEAVY HANDED. I feel like part of the problem was the music was terrible though.
Kids, back off your signal chain edits by at least 20%. They will not age well when super exciting in the moment.
Yeah, this is thoroughly modern, or maybe I should say post-modern mix process. You don't need half those plugs most of the time, at least I don't.
WTF is Slate Digital doing pimping rubbish ads at the start of their product adverts?
Good video, annoying useless music in the background.
The synchronized "What is Virtual Mix Rack?" kinda cringed me a bit. Obvious scripted marketing makes me thing twice about the plugins, sometimes; although I am a Slate subscriber (for several years now). No regrets on that one. For sure, this video was long overdue. As a guitarist/bassist I feel that a new guitar ampsim would be in order to bring on more artists than engineer/producers... The Overloud is good, but it's time for something new. Also, for some reason, I realize it's not a "related company", but SSD could use a big revamp at this point. Been years meow. No disrespect intended, just hope this reaches the CEO. Any plans, Steve? - Marty
