Based on the last video i saw. I think those are all carpet fibers. That capet needs replaced. That said, the carpet cleaner will do a better job getting rid of allergens. If its that dirty still. Also consider cleaning the walls. But the landlord should replace that old likely nasty carpet. The stuff underneath is probably falling apart.
just a tip (because carpet cleaners dont really advertise it lol) - you want to always flush your carpet with water whenever you put soap in it. any soap left after attracts dirt and leads to rapid resoiling. Love carpet cleaners, hope it continues producing results ☺️

Use a full sized upright instead of a stick vac, stick vacs might be good but a full sized quality vacuum will pull up more every time(vacuum repair tech here).
I have a friend who had this exact situation, after months of vacuuming and washing she took my original advice to pull up the carpets. It was just endless and in the end your actually just pulling up the fibres of the underlay
I can understand if you're happily cleaning and feeling better while making content and it does look satisfying! Though I just wanted to mention to not send yourself insane girl, absolutely worth getting it cleaning professionally as they have more powerful suction and specialise in getting rid of signs of pets in rentals.. It's worth noting that you might just have a very old carpet or just a make up of fibres that go brittle with exposure to sun over time, it could be that you're vacuuming up fibres as apposed to fur. If the last tenants did have cats you're going to find that if there is a underlay to the carpet you will have better luck with professional machines as they are able to suction with enough force to get it from the underlay though it could be that the underlay and carpet is to far gone and you could have a professional write you a letter staying his opinion on it for your landlord to get it replaced completely.. @@silverserienty9384 no problemo. It's the Bissell turbo clean powerbrush pet carpet cleaner. It's fairly easy to clean; the filter and filter pieces come out/ go back together easily. Under the brush is a little more annoying but nothing too complex.
So many good suggestions here. I'd also like to add a suggestion to empty the vacuum canister more often. When it looks about 30-40% full, it's full. The vacuum will work better that way, last longer, recirculate less dust into the air, and use its charge more efficiently.
Hey if you're allergic to cats, eat some eggs from a farm that keeps cats with their chicken. I know it sounds weird but hear me out. Chicken develop an antibody against the cat's antigen and pass said antibodies on to their offspring. A sizable amount of those antibodies were able to be measured in their unfertilised eggs. Some cat foods nowadays even incooperate those eggs to reduce allergies.
Little suggestion: If you haven't already, check the AC air filters because alot of times that will cause the stinky stench in your home as well if they haven't been cleaned & replaced. God bless🙏🏾✨
Urine soaks up to 2 or 4 times the initial surface area on soft surfaces like carpets. If it STILL smells like urine, it's because you haven't gotten rid of the urine enzymes. Get a UV flashlight ($10) and a good enzyme solution/spray and turn the lights off and do a thorough walk through, hitting every glowing spot and letting the solution sit. The UV light is for hard surfaces only. Then, take your carpet cleaner and mix in the enzyme solution into your cleaning mix so you can saturate every soft surface. You can get a great and effective enzyme cleaner at Tops Markets for around $9 or online for $16-$20. Pooph is $15 but I have never tried it. I use Out! Pet Care Advanced myself. You can buy spray bottle or just a refill, both are $9. This specific solution is safe on all surfaces that can be cleaned with water. You may get seriously grossed out with the UV sweep like I did. You think you're doing a great job till it shines the ugly truth! (I don't mean this as a dig either, I experienced this first hand myself.)
For years I have been shampooing my carpets with water, white vinegar, and a few drops of dish soap. Does not leave vinegar scent or crunchy soap residue, when dry. Carpets become softer and stay cleaner longer.
Move the rug in the living room when you’re cleaning. You got it when you moved in, you’re cleaning it as much as you are the carpet when it’s not needed. You have to worry about what’s underneath that rug, I would hate for you to destroy that rug over nothing and continually have this problem ❤
I know it's probably sped up, but if you go way slower, and use an actual vacuum, not a stick Dyson. You'd actually see better results. Also, switching directions, I would go all 4 ways at least twice. If that one room doesn't take you at least one hour, you aren't deep vacuuming. You're skimming.
You should get a Kirby if possible!! I used to work for them and I’ve seen them compared to every other vacuum and other shampooers and NOTHING works like it
I replaced my old carpet and when it was time to clean it since I had two more rooms, I paid a professional. It 👀 cleaned! Then we used my new Quantum vacuum and we could not believe the amount of dirt. I love the Quantum vacuum but it’s too heavy for me but I do use it.
You should vacuum in different directions. Don't just go straight. Go straight and then turn your vacuum in a different direction and vacuum and do that a few times
Move all furniture from areas that have carpet clean everything. Make sure to have your air ducks cleaned as well and change your filters on your floors use white vinegar, baking soda, and dawn after everything is dry spray with Lysol that water looks like your landlord did not clean your carpets.

Enzyme cleaners to remove urine. If its on the carpet you might need to remove the carpet. Move the couch and things to clean the caroet where thet are it will srill be durty just xleaning ariund them. You should remove the area rug to clean the carpet under it. Then clean it separately.

My doctor said up to 20 years, but I'm pretty sure he has something against cats 🙄 anyway, I do have cats, and since I was a kid I had dog and cat allergy, what I found, for me personally, it's I have to get used to them, I used to foster kitties, and at the beginning I was all stuffy and sneezing, amd after a while I would get used to them, they wod get adopted, and more kitties came in and it started all over again. When I adopted cats, it would take a couple of months of getting used to them, and now it's all fine. I have a friend that has cats, it's fine with hers, but with other cats, she has an allergic reaction, my cousin it's the same thing, she gets with her eyes watering, swollen, sneezing around my cats but then the cats that roam around their house and they feed, she doesn't react and she loves cats. Anyway my allergies never stopped my parents to have dogs and me roll around with them growing up, and now I have cats, but it has always been the same, it takes me a while to get used to new pets. All that to say, that maybe with time it will be easier for you guys, cause you might get used to the previous pets and their allergens will reduce with time. Also, carpets are the worse, they accumulate so much dirty, that might not even be pets, just dirt and dust that's causing the allergies
Thats not cat fur! Thats dust and crapet residue, cat hair will usually come in one big noticabke clump in the vacuum that WILL be a different color then everywhere else. If your actually that concerned then focus less on the carpet snd more on your air vents and ceilings. Your wasting way to much time on thaf carpet

If you live in an apartment you 100% can make the landlord pay for the floors to be replaced. Look up some renters rights in your area and see what applies with you guys getting sick from this and the smell.
Why did you guys not just pull the carpet out? There’s most likely a nice wood floor underneath that can be refinished and then less cat dander for your family.
Grab a brush(those that we scrub bathroom floors with) have a bowl of water with you, dip the brush in the bowl and scrub that rug throughly till you see no hair. Then take it out or in the bathroom and wash it by hand. A carpet cleaner in this case is not gonna do much
I don't get why people have carpet, it's so dirty and especially if you have shoes on indoors or animals. It should be floors you can mop and then you can have rugs that you can wash but not wall to wall carpet that just lies there like a layer to absorb everything from skin to hair to fluids and dirt and all kinds of disgusting things. Just look at how dirty it was/is.
