- Fran is mortified when, after 18 years of marriage, her husband Peter comes out as gay. Fran files for divorce but because their house is worth less than what they owe on it, they continue to live together. After the divorce is final, Fran meets a new guy, Elliott. They go out but Elliott ends up being rushed to the hospital after a severe allergic reaction to truffles.

It’s sad really if you think about it. This was her life. Her real life. I know they made it funny for a show but imagine the pain she felt in real life. They were together for a long long time.
It was even sadder because Fran Drescher's marriage was over on the same day when the final episode of The Nanny was aired.

It's sad that all of Fran's shows keep getting cancelled. The only one that had a full-run, was The Nanny. I want more! Fran is hilarious!

@@EstebanCH. I'm pretty sure The Nanny had a full run. Usually when those things happen with the characters of a series, the storylines have ended and there's nothing more they can do with them -- so it's, literally, time to move on.

At first I was terrified at her voice. It literally tortured me. Now after watching the whole seasons, I love it. In fact, I find it charming.
Rita Moreno! A Puerto Rican legend right there. And I love the West Side Story line (she was in the original movie and won an Oscar for anyone who didn’t know).

I saw this show after the cancellation, I know it was not the best but it really made me happy, it is a shame it didn´t have a lot of success but I really like how it ended.

I watched this programme in the UK on the TLC Channel a couple of years ago and found it pretty good. Just a pity the show ended, after two series only. I watched Fran's other sitcom too on CZcams.
Was surprised to learn that Fran's mother in the show, played by Rita Moreno has actually won all 4 American entertainment awards .. an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and a Tony ... Crikey ! she is good.
rita also appeared in the nanny she played maggies gym teacher who turned out to be her old gym teacher

So it’s LOOSELY based on Fran and Peter Marc Jacobson’s experiences. They were actually high school sweethearts and married for 20 years before he came out and they divorced. Interesting fact that it was Fran going to therapy to deal with when she was assaulted during a break in for the truth about Peter to come out.
