      @banir3736 That should be the motto of the Genshin dev team:
      "Could be better, but..."
      Whereas in HSR they hit the ground running in terms of QOL and continue to crap on Genshin (e.g., double weapon banners are separate so you don't have to win the 50/50 after winning the 75/25).

      Genshin needs to show a quest progress bar or show you the percentage of your progress or how many more quest sections still remaining so players have an idea if they wanna play a certain quest for Encounter Points.

With the new system, I can log in to do an event or a quest and also complete my dailies while I'm at it. Hell, I can also decide to explore the map and get daily progress too.

    However i wish there were way of getting encounter points with stuff we can do thats not an event, even just adding World Bosses, Ley Lines, Weekly bosses, and Talent/Weapon asecntion domains to it, even at 0.5 points each, will make a great difference in the variety of things we can do

    the one missing piece is rewarding encounter points for farming materials in the overworld. options to collect encounter points for things like mining ore, collecting local specialties, or killing a set amount of enemies would a) provide an easy and ///permanently available/// means of gaining encounter points that is accessible to players of ALL progression levels and b) lessen the burden of farming, one of the most tedious aspects of genshin that holds back more casual players, by allowing them to complete commissions and farming in one go.

  • @effortlessfury
    @effortlessfury Před 7 měsíci +19

    Did I love the old daily system? No. It is, however, still one of the faster daily systems in a game where you actively control your player. Don't get me started on Destiny's daily and weekly progression.
    As far as Star Rail's goes, there have been days where completing it has been effortless, and some days where I've actively been annoyed by what I had to do to complete them (Genshin has never actually annoyed me with its dailies). I've had days where I spent more time completing my dailies in Star Rail than I ever have in Genshin. It's highly variable.
    The two games' systems, as they now stand, reflect how they would like you to spend your time playing the game. They most effortlessly reward you when your play is most aligned with the intended design. The more you like to play outside of that intended design, the less you will like the system.

  • @colorlessguard
    @colorlessguard Před 7 měsíci +29

    i think the new system overall is a great QoL upgrade for the game! and i see no reason why the devs couldn’t expand on new means of obtaining points… world bosses, completing domains, obtaining X amount of stars in spiral abyss, etc… I’ll definitely be adding this to the free response in feedback surveys going forward 👍✨

  • @Toonfish_
    @Toonfish_ Před 7 měsíci +26

    I didn't mind the old daily system because I enjoy the combat in Genshin and usually 3/4 dailies are combat although I've started to deliberately nerf my overworld team so I don't just stomp everything in 2 seconds. The new daily system is a neat little extra for me. (For context, I've been playing for 7 months now, 100% in half the regions, 70-80% in the others, 36* abyss every time)
    Ideally, if dailies had to exist, I would love if they worked like actual commissions from the adventurer's guild. I.e. you walk up to the commission board and there are like 10-15 different commissions of various types (combat, quest-y, gathering, delivery, etc) and you can select which ones you wanna do. You'd get primos for the first 4 you do plus the bonus you get after you complete 4 with the current system and after that the other commissions are still available but just reward mora or other non-primo resources.

    Hangout events actually count toward this system and that's awesome! They count for 1) claiming the reward for the route. 2) Completing the route. 3) Midroute tasks.
    One hangover quest can last you for what feels like more than a week. Possibly mpre if you're willing to complete 1 normal daily(oftem 1/4 dailies is an achivement one anyway)

And sometimes I've been so unlucky, doing a bunch of stuff I wanted just to get 100 points. Genshin's system where you can choose events/old commissions (as someone with 100% in alnost every region I don't get much to explore until 4.4) feels kinda flexible, and with the newer commissions, a bit less bland. What I liked is firstly I was able to just focus on the new content released and didnt have to do any commissions for almost 2 weeks. And even after it motivated me to go back and find the remaining few % of exploration in older regions and do side quests that have been sitting there on my quest log for quite a while. Usually when there's no events going on and if you have a limited time to play, daily commissions are usually the priority and it gets in you in that cycle of log in->dailies-> logout. But now with this system I can actually play the game and focus on content I have to catch up on, and still get the rewards. I understand it might not be that much of a benefit for players who like to speedrun content, have most stuff completed already,etc. But its really helpful for players who have got a backlog of content to do and also for players who are joining the game again after burnout. I would love to see more options to get encounter points for sure though

      I think this system does not matter that much UNTIL you realise how easy it is to farm friendship. I've been playing Genshin for more than two years and 90% of the time I always used unmaxxed characters for dailies, which made them two times longer (usually I always could use one good unit from the recent 5* banner, but sometimes it was... I'm an AR 60 player, 899 active days, regular 36-star-er, and for me, Encounter Point is one of the best QoL the game have ever implemented so far.
    By doing quests, events, and opening chests bit-by-bit every day, I've managed to completely avoid doing any daily commissions, which felt great, because I feel that I'm actually playing the game instead of doing a day job.
    Even now, when there's no events, I can just progress my exploration, and don't forget, those chests contain Primos! Right now, my Liffey Region is at 72%, and Fontaine Research Institute is still at a mere 23%, which I reckon should last until the game goes into maintenance.
    Granted, this feature wouldn't feel as effective when a new patch without any new area comes along, but I think doing events immediately after logging in plus a couple easy dailies will still be faster than the old ways of doing four dailies and doing event afterward.
    And Hangout Events do count towards it.

  • @sreeragsathyan7349

    I actually think genshin daily system is currently better than honkai, because in honkai, we actually need to use the resin equivalent for some of the dailies. So suppose I don't want to use my resin on domains which gives traces, when the daily is doing that domain, it will be a waste of resin. I find being able to get those daily rewards through exploration alone is way better since honkai gives just like 100 points for breaking few destructive objects. Like we may not even destroy those since those doesn't give us stellar jade. But in genshin every chest gives us primos and every oculi helps in increasing the level of statue of seven which gives constellation for traveller and keys for the shrine. So there are actual reasons to do it other than just for the dailies. In my opinion, genshin has a better daily system than honkai.

  • @octo448
    @octo448 Před 6 měsíci +1

    I took a break at the end of Sumeru due to some light burnout, and stayed gone through the 4.0 update. Came back in the second half of 4.1 and I haven't done a single normal daily since, and I haven't missed a day of daily rewards. I think saying it is situationally very useful is fair, but I don't believe it was ever intended as a true replacement for dailies for every player in every situation forever. For example, I would suggest that the developers are anticipating a conversion from quest and exploration daily rewards into the traditional dailies as an inverse relationship with time from newly released content. For people like me who have grown to really despise doing the daily quests, this is incentive to actually commit to going back to clean up exploration goals that have not yet been completed. While I waited for 4.2 to drop, I went back and cleared my entire questlog of Sumeru story and world quests (And in doing so, unlocked even MORE content I didn't even know was there!) All those things rewarded me such that I never once even had to think about my daily rewards during that period.
    I know eventually I will get to a point where I can't do that anymore because my exploration of the current content is mostly done and I have no more remaining quests to do. However instead of viewing this as a pitfall of the system, I view it as alleviating the NECESSITY of doing the traditional daily quests for the duration of new exploration content. It's amazing what a break can do, both from a game (My break from Genshin renewed my love for the game in a big way) but also from specific parts of the game, namely the daily system. By the time I'm fresh out of new content to farm and old content to catch up on, I'll have a whole host of new Fontaine world quests to try out and a couple more random achievements to go after. It won't be nearly as annoying or feel as much like a chore as when it was the only choice to get my rewards.
    Lastly, I think Hoyo has adjusted their strategy for releasing content to help facilitate this kind of mindset- Fontaine is being released in smaller chunks more frequently than Sumeru or Inazuma. The rewards in Fontaine are also more densely packed. For example, there are already 216 Hydro occuli in the relatively small area of Fontaine compared to the 277 in Sumeru's vast forest and desert areas. I have also noticed chests and minigames are more frequent in Fontaine than in any other region. This means that finding a combination of 8 chests and occuli (which btw, all the minigames count as chests too!) is a lot faster in the new strategy than it ever was in Inazuma or particularly in Sumeru. I think these two adjustments add up to a system where Hoyo wants players to explore and not feel obligated to do daily content on top of that (to say nothing of events) but that doesn't totally toss out the value of the old daily system and instead takes the pressure off of it.

  • @jarrenraves
    @jarrenraves Před 7 měsíci +2

    that reminds me they did an ingame survey about the new encounter point system and for "reasons why you don't like this" it included both "ive already completed all the content that gives points" and "it doesnt include activities that cost resin" among others. Thats awfully specific... makes it clear they are quite aware of the weaknesses of the new system for certain types of players.
    Still, most people seem to like it so Hoyo might not feel bothered to improve it further... that'd suck for the rest of us. Honestly though, I never saw dailies as a major issue to being with, which makes it a lackluster solution to a minor problem. Give me solutions to the many problems with the artifact and story events instead-thats the **** that burns me out.

    For me, it’s great. I’m not a person who has completed EVERYTHING in the update it happens.
    I play when I feel the motivation to do whatever is new or in the backlog. But things like daily commissions would always be culprit #1 in my burnout/extended breaks.
    This new system has really got me playing not just more, but without (or majorly lessened) burnout. I love it, it don’t feel like I have to login to do boring repetitive stuff daily. I login and play what I want to and don’t miss out.

    A tip for people that are working on reputation for specific regions is that the 3 weekly requests actually count as quests and one counts as one daily completed. Most of the time these are short turn in 8 butters or kill 3 mobs somewhere. Unfortunately weekly bounties do not count.
    I agree that star rail is doing a lot of things right, but I also consider them to be separate games and genres. I sort of put star rail on hold because of things I dislike about that game and while genshin has its problems I only have so much time and between the two I like genshin more.

    As someone who took a hiatus, and still has a lot to catch up on, this change has been amazing, and let me feel like I've actually got time to explore in the open world. To me, though, it really sounds like 90% of the remaining problems would be solved by simply adding a 4th combat commission (5 total that you pick 4 from), as the real problem is that the RP commissions just take too long.
    The only other change that I'd want is getting some exploration credit in other people's world in multiplayer.

    It benefits my alt accounts, which I don't always play on. I don't do dailies on my alts or even log into them regularly, so it's a bonus for them when I do drop into one for an event or something. But I haven't noticed any difference in my playing habits on my main account at all. I'm still chasing those quests and achievements, wishing there was a way to alleviate the randomness. Also I'm still enjoying the way the dailies take me all over Fontaine, since I haven't explored everything there yet and it's a nice reminder to maybe talk to an NPC in the area I haven't interacted with before or recheck an area for chests or something.

    I also use an interactive map coz I don't wanna lose count of the stuff I collect, as much as I love the exploration, this is still a gacha game, the currency you don't get by missing out is the currency you can't use to roll for the characters you want.

    My favourite thing about encounter points: being able to go into a random player's world, claim them and immediately get double friendship xp without having to hope I joined with a player who hasn't already done their dailies, meaning I'll have to leave and try again. I'll have Furina and Charlotte and will probably have their namecards by week 4 of the patch, after which I will hold off exploring. It's a welcome addition to the game, for sure.
    Also, I do care about achievements, and I have 1080 out of 1093 (as of 4.2, and accounting for the two that are currently impossible). Since NPC commissions are on a clearable cycle, I do those anyway, even after encounter points are claimed. Will have them all eventually.

  • @MCHR92
    @MCHR92 Před 7 měsíci +2

    In my case a big reason why I dropped HSR, without story to do, in tandem with a system that rewards you for basically not playing the game I didn't felt involved with it. Once I asked myself, I'm I just going to have the game muted in the background doing autocombat every single day? It went downhill, I barely left the train since you can get everywhere with a button press, you can convert the materials from every enemy, so I just killed the same 3 group of enemies, no condensed resin means I immediately fell into a routine not even after Seele was gone, there was no interesting sandbox to go around (which has sprouted a myriad of resinless behavior), and with its daily system not even something interesting to spin my teams around (I spent my TP and got most of the "dailies" out when I check on them), despite what people believe the SU to be "endgame" it is still a bonafide farming spot that relies on luck and either barely pass it or completely annihilate every wave.
    Which is the reason I go for horizontal investment, I have a different team for resin and dailies every 2-3 days since the game doesn't force me to hyperinvest in a build, so everyone feels close to the same powerlevel and can be swapped around.
    But well I'm coming from games like Warframe and several MMOs, Genshin's dailies are barely an inconvenience, I'm done in less than 20 minutes if just rush it, that's probably the time I used just moving inside some dungeons in other games, so the old system was already fine in my book, and the new one kind of promotes me to go little by little with the story and exploration, instead of going ham on a weekend when I get in the mood lol.
    If I want to play an idle game I just play an idle game instead of a gacha TBS. Alas, maybe I'm just a boomer who still has attention span, Genshin already feels that it takes any time.

    From my count, an event act is worth 4 dailies. A story quest is worth roughly 12 dailies. Archon Quest varies, but... probably around the same.
    Also, pro tip, for the events, do them, but claim the rewards only when you need activity points. It's the claiming that gives the points.
    So far, a month later, I never had to do my dailies again. I only do the story one because I want the achievements, so I have one daily per day, and the rest comes from events + permanent content.

    I like it because of a few reasons:
    1: I never move my quests from Mondstadt, so now whenever i get the stupid Tsarevich daily I can just do something else
    2: I do events anyway, so now I don't have to do the story dailies when there's one that actually counts
    3: I'm trying to 100% my world, so the fact that chests and stuff count at all is great!
    4: It gives me incentive to actually catch up on the Archon Quest. I just finished Caribert and I did it because I didn't feel like running around for the last few chests I'm missing in Liyue.
    Still, it sucks that chests all have the same value and that domain runs don't count :(

    I like the new system a lot. Before this, I would want to log on every day and do the event and also do my commissions. This update basically halves the time I have to spend doing busy work in the game. It also means that the mundane commissions don’t get in the way of the wonder of exploring a new region. I usually fully explore in 2-4 weeks, going a bit by bit every day, so I guess this system is well built for someone like me.

    I like the encounter point system because, like you said, it enables us to kinda mix n' match what we do. (miss me with doing those balloon escort quests or ANYTHING in the desert. I'm so tired of sand.)
    It also encourages me to do various world quests because there are a few i haven't done, but with this system i can do a little bit of it and it'll count for my dailies and progress me through it some more.
    But, i also agree that it kinda sucks that it doesn't include thing that veteran players are most likely doing (resource gathering).
    Like, why can't doing a domain/ley line count as .5 points, world boss 1 point, weekly boss 2 point. or hell, the weekly boss can be 1 point too. but have it count for something.
    so i guess tldr; it's a good idea and functions, but needs some tweaking.

    With the new system, I find my self saving for chests or oculi I find for next days’ Encounter Points (EPs). Kinda tiring how I have to track and mark pins on map chests/oculi that I have to return to for EPs the next days. And i’m running out of pins (and pin designs too). Or sometimes, I’d deliberately stop a quest even if I wanted to go on because I was saving EPs for the next day. Or deliberately not claim Event rewards now to save them for EPs for other days. The extra mental management I have to do can become a nuisance that I’d end up just doing the normal 4 commissions.
    Also, note that certain daily random commissions are parts of minor quests that can give you Achievements. So I have to pay attention to those kinds of commissions and make sure not to skip them. Again, this is another extra mental management. Would be nice if the game tells you if you already did the quest involved in certain daily commissions.
    The new system kinda forces me to change how and when i wanna explore and do quests. It’s both a blessing and a frustration for me. It’s freeing and limiting at the same time.
    But overall, i’d say it’s still a nice addition. I’d rather have the new system than without it. It’s far from being the best system as I wish there are more options to earn EPs (i.e. resin use), but it’s fine to have it. I just wish it was more polished, less limiting, and offered more non-finite options.

  • @TheMusicboxHeart
    @TheMusicboxHeart Před 7 měsíci +1

    The argument that the new system promotes exploration is a valid one, but as a map completionist I have to say-- it's taken a lot of motivation out of the game for me exploration-wise. I'm one of those people who loves to pick a day I have nothing going on and just dive headfirst into the newest released map area and complete as much as I can one collectible category at a time. That systematic completion and then the satisfaction of seeing "100%" on my map is what brings me the most joy in my own personal Genshin experience.
    With the new system, I feel obligated to throttle that completionist urge and only do a few chests or seelies at a time, because otherwise it seems like a waste-- and it feels really bad, to be honest.
    I'm not going to say that hoyo is in the wrong and needs to rework the system just because I don't like it. But it would be really nice if they had thought of tasks that don't rely on finite resources, like killing X number of enemies, or gathering X number of a certain local specialty, or other similar small goals. If they did, the point system would feel a lot better than it currently does.

  • @Renimyyy

    The one thing I hate about the encounter points system is how its basically making me procrastinate ASFJDSKLG
    Like I could finish this quest or get that chest now but the demon inside of me is screaming "NO THAT'S MORE USEFUL TOMORROW"
    In all seriousness though, as someone with adhd, its also been a huge motivator for me to do my story quests and hangouts lol.
    1 part of a story quest or hangout usually gets you full comms already so I can just finish a part of the story quest today, leave the rest for tomorrow and I'm basically set to clear the quest + comms for a few days already (ex. Neuvillette has 3 parts so thats 3 day worth of comms) Hangouts from what I'm seeing gets u 3.5 comms for a part, you don't even have to get to the ending.
    I do hope they update it to include content thats not one time clears too cuz like I've mentioned, the fact that I won't be able to utilize the system once I'm clear of content is making me procrastinate way too much. I used to 100% areas in 1-2 weeks but now the patch is ending and my 4.1 regions are still at 50% cuz I feel iffy about wasting encounter points lmao

    Tbh I already stopped doing dailies way before the encounter point system, so having this as an alternative I can do every so often is still better than not doing any at all. I just leave some easy to get chests and oculi alone, and when I do an event I just top off the remainder by grabbing some of the stuff I left. I am going to keep asking in the surveys to reward us with encounter points whenever we kill elites or collect regional specialties to the end of time. Because those would have been the best case scenario for someone like me, who farms character mats daily on a slow pace. I don't like going all in before a character comes out to collect 81 or something specialties in a day. I would rather collect 10-15 per day or cycle which are located close to teleporters. Same for elite mobs.
    But I will say this, the encounter system so far has been a life saver for me. Everyone says the system is for newer players or vice versa. But imo this system further incentivises players to take everything slow and steady for the 40 days of a patch. (I am not criticizing day 1 speed runners btw even I have done that. But the devs don't always have the same vision of how they want the game to play out opposed to the players.)
    For me the basic procedure has been doing stuff I want to do for the day (depending on my mood I either farm mats, do quests, explore or do on going events.) after that I check how much encounter points I need and according to that I do on avrg 1-2 dailies to fill out the rest. If I am lucky maybe all 4 points are full.

    Ends up being around 1 less commission daily, which is alright I guess. Bigger commission change are fontaine commissions, which are EXTREMELY fast to do, spawn somewhat close to teleports and I can always clear them with just Wanderer and Faruzan (if im doing co-op with friend for efficiency)

    Honestly this thing is tailor-made for someone like me. I only have a half hour or an hour to play every day and hated how dailies would drag me out of quests since I can never finish quests in one go. So every day I can knock out one part (until the "quest completed" thing pops up in an archon/story quest, there's usually like three) of an archon quest or story quest or world quest or do a couple runs of an event and then call it a day. But I'm also someone who almost never grinds exploration so those issues, which are very real and look really annoying, don't apply to me, so I can see how the system's problems are much more glaring for someone like Ratheil.

    It’s a good thing but it could be better. But it’s so nice to get like 3 chests or even just do like the story i already need to do and completely skip the daily commissions

    Damn, and I thought I was fast doing my dailies in 5 minutes. I've been bested

    Every 1/3 of the quest ( character quest ) gives you all 4 encounter points you know when its done beacuse you get rewards like exp books or at the very end the primos so you can do one part of the quest every day and dont do comissions for 3 days
