  • I've been wearing a corset lately under my shirt. It's the most healing, centering tool I've used in a while.

My name is Christian Swenson. I'm a 29-year old autistic man with interests in philosophy, art history, and all sorts of things. I made this channel to talk about the experience of autism from an autistic perspective. Autistic consciousness isn't normal consciousness. The autistic world isn't the normal world. I want to explore that world with you.

Yes, yes yes. I studied fashion, and I have always been fascinated with how certain garments can affect bodily awareness, and the corset is a great tool as you say, very misunderstood. Another garment I love is the zen buddhist monk robe, with those super wide sleeves, that serve as an aid to make you think about how you move your body through space. that increased connection pressure and movement gives is very enjoyable and centering for me too.

What a fascinating aspect of fashion! I’d read a book about that.

Not weird at all Christian, you express so well a feeling I’ve had difficulty describing to others. It definitely influences my choice of clothing. Thanks so much for your videos.

Fat people (and I use that term lovingly, as I am fat, and I didn't say, nor did I mean, "ugly") have a hard time finding corsets, especially on Amazon. But I wanted to say thank you for this video. You put words to a feeling I used to get when I had a wearable corset. I'm still looking for one that will fit me in my current physical form.

@Pablo Moreno Cordón No, I can't really exercise. I have a chronic pain disorder that doesn't allow for much movement. Corsetting helps, but I broke my last one years ago and have yet to find a replacement. I wish back braces worked as well as corsetting, but alas, they trigger flareups. *Sigh*

I've been on the hunt for a compression/weighted vest because I also really find the pressure extremely comforting

Hi Christian, it's great you found that. I did too before I was diagnosed and even before even thinking about having any similar condition such as aspergers, but I didn't fully understand why I liked it. Then after being diagnosed which was a surprise for me, I started researching and found out it is a common resource and could't believe it haha, and yea it's a wonderful resource. Cheers from Argentina.

I'm a guy working in a welding shop and got an inexpensive boned corset for work back support, and I've found they do help calm the nerves.

Noice! I've always enjoyed compression, even more now that I understand my autistic brain and body and their needs. I'm gonna try it. I imagine it's like a portable weighted blanket. 😂

I bet it’d be good for grounding and feeling like you’re in your own body again.
Only issue being that I fear not liking the constricting feeling.

I love this video! In the end you do acknowledge that some people might find it weird or judge you, but you still don't hesitate to say what you feel to try and help others, thanks for that!

I am immedeately also thinking of Ehlers Danlos Syndrom wich has a high comirbidity with autism. Corsets can also be helpful for that!

You could almost say that putting a corset on in the morning and off in the evening is an amazing and simple ritual.
It's great that it's working for you. Corset have been heavily misunderstood and misinterpreted in the movies. Karolina Zebrowska made several videos on this topic which I would recommend...
