- The Align Tactical THUMB REST Locking Block pin is a performance upgrade for the Canik Rival / Mete Series and should be performed by an experienced armorer. FIREARM MUST BE UNLOADED BEFORE PROCEEDING! Ensure you have eye protection, a micro flat-head screw driver or similar tool for pushing the slide lock, and a (5/64" or 3/32") steel punch for US, or (2.5mm) such as Glock punch in EU for ease of installation. Be sure to cover the spring-loaded plunger with your finger when removing the pin. Users accept their own liability for damage to their firearm during any part replacement procedures. Contact the manufacturer if you damage a part.
10 out of 10 for your video, everything was said and shown clearly Well Done
Thanks! Really appreciate it!
I have watched many rival and tp9 take down videos and yours is the best one by a long shot! The others don’t even compare to how understandable yours is.
Thanks!!
Fantastic video! Your clear instructions along with camera angles made this installation a breeze. Thank you.
Thanks so much!
Thank you for this amazing how-to video. Simple, clear and concise instructions. I have two Rival’s to re-home but now I may keep one just to try this awesome thumb rest 🥰
Thanks so much!
I’M SOOO FREAKING HYPED FOR THIS 🤟🏾🇺🇸🙌🏾 Thanks so much for creating this and the amazingly clear instructions!
Subscriber & customer earned! 🔥💪🏾😎
Thanks!
Ordered one Monday when they first dropped can’t wait to install later today
Excellent How to Video. This is how all How to Videos should be made.
Great video. Well done. If that thumb rest folded up so it would fit in my holster it would be perfect.
Never seen a folding thumb rest. Have you?
The best installation video I've ever seen!!!
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Great product and excellent video presentation and detail!
Mine is arriving Friday and it'll be going to the range Saturday.
Great video. Short, sweet, and clear.
Thanks!
Got thumb rest, during install on Rival, couldn't get PIN lock to 2d click (2:54). Went to armorer, who aligned everything and finished install. Shot at range today, HUGE positive difference!
Glad to hear it! We've seen some Caniks come with a loose locking cross bar that don''t click into place (like one Rival-S we are testing for that version), so they flop around with gravity and need to be held back while installing. The friction fit then holds it in place when locked, though a warranty request to Canik to fix is a good option.
My thumb rest locked in my Darkside like concrete, no prob there. For quality and price, your product is a true must-have! Please finish for P365x. My current TacDev plastic ledge is too far forward and slippery. Getting that better stippled for short-term fix, but if Align will make the same awesome quality metal one for P365x, I'd buy in a second!
Awesome video man!
Thanks!
@@aligntactical I'm 19 looking to get into gunsmithing and videos like this are absolutely awesome and interesting. Hope to see more stuff like this ^~^
Joel your the man!!!
Great instructional video. Now the hard part is finding a holster.
Thanks! Please refer to Align Tactical's Compatible Holster Manufacturers on the website product page for select models from Black Scorpion Gear, Werkz, GX Products, Precision Holsters, Carey Concealment, SOUSA, Red River Tactical, Black-Rhino Concealment, and Lytton Custom Holsters.

Great video thankyou
Great video!!! Are you still able to use the Canik holster or do you have to modify it?
We have a list of compatible holsters on the website. The included Canik holster would need modification.
Beautiful pistol
Man I wished this would go on my executive combat.
Very helpful 🎉
Will this fit the new canik TTI combat. I am having trouble with cycling because my left /week hand has had 5 operations. The TTI apparently has a different recoil compared to the rival and mete I have both and have no issues with then . The gun shop I bought the TTI from has proved that my hand is the problem because of the recoil spring and compensator that is on the TTI . Great video best in CZcams until they take it down 😊
It will 100 percent!
good video, gave you a sub.
Why is the thumbrest so far away from the thumb? Maybe if it was swapped to the other side it could be a trigger finger rest. I don't know anyone that has a thumb longer than the trigger guard.
This is designed for a more aggressive thumbs forward grip like Nils uses, as to take advantage of the recessed trigger guard that allows two fingers to press up against. Our other designs are more compatible with a Combat grip, whereas the Caniks are mostly competition geared. Recommend trying to rotate the support hand more and it will make contact. These are positioned where Canik put the traction pads for both the polymer and the new screw in Rival-S positions.
Only reason I don’t red dot mine and get good with it is cause it’s just another thing to get snagged when I need to draw am I just over thinking it?
Drawing from a belt-worn Kydex holster should be clean without issue. Where snagging tends to happen is with sights or beaver tail on shirts from not lifting high enough upon drawing and is something to work on with training. A thumb rest wouldn't snag as it would be facing skin and not the shirt side. Snagging becomes more of an issue for pocket carry where one is pulling it through a garment, pants pocket, jacket, etc. and that is where micro pistols get the melt jobs and controls practically removed like say the P365 SAS, where even the sights are removed. With larger pistols in a kydex holster it isn't an issue. When re-holstering, movements should always be slow and deliberate with the pistol pointed away from the body.
Awesome, but when is the estimated release date? The website just says "soon"
Coming next month
Nice. Dig it.
Thank you
Yea couldn’t get it in a holster properly … nice add on but sucks to not be able to fit the holsters
We have a list of holster manufacturers that support this upgrade on our website - under the product section. Thanks
Any plans on a model that is sloped (like at 45 degrees), that doesnt stick out quite as much, instead of perfectly horizontal?
There is actually a shallow slope on our rests between 12-15 degrees (looking at the rear of the pistol) depending on the model. This is designed to match the natural rolling cant of the thumb when extended forward in a two handed grip. This helps distribute the pressure evenly during recoil. Having it sloped at 45 degrees would increase the likelihood of the thumb slipping off when sweaty. It protrudes with half-a-thumb's worth of extension, so it is low-profile and fits the USPSA box test. Since these are more competition oriented models vs. carry, there are no plans for a variation. Hope this helps clarify
@@aligntactical sorry I wasn’t clear. I mean in stead of 12-15 degrees front to back, making it like a 45-60 angle off the frame. Essentially a little ledge that conceal guys would be more apt to use
@@BF40JOE Completely understood, and is what we are referring to. (when looking across it like the wing of an airplane), back-to-front. the bottom is 90 degrees, however the top is angled between 12-15 degrees, so it makes a shallow triangle from that view. If any steeper, the thumb is more likely to slip. It only has about half-a-thumbs worth of stick out. Designed to be low-profiled for fitting the box test and carry. We have carry holsters as an option as well.
Umm , is that a home defense/night stand gun/range gun, or how you holster carry that now ?🤔
The Rival series is marketed as a Competition pistol and this part will be authorized for USPSA Limited, Limited 10, Limited Optics, and Open. The Mete is more geared towards defense but equally capable for any role. We have 18 holster manufacturers that we are currently working with that already create compatible holsters for our other Thumb Rest products. There will be plenty of options of every type ready at launch as we already have some that we are currently using for this. So competition holsters, carry holsters, light-bearing holsters.
Do you need a custom holster now that you have installed the new piece?
We have an ongoing list of all manufacturers that are compatible with each of our thumb rests on each product page of our website.
Any plans for making this pedal for the Canik MC9?
It doesn't have the same features for installation, so no plans as of yet. Thanks
Where can I find this to mount on right side ,if possible , as I am the smart lefty
We're looking at making a lefty version in the future
does this work on a TP9 SFX???
Wondering if someone makes these for left-handers.
We will soon
Good shit 👍👍👍
Any updates on a left handed version?
Is there a left hand variant of this thumb rest
We'll get there, just will be a while as we add left handed versions of current products. Thanks
Great video, do you have a link for this product?
Thanks, it will be available on www.aligntactical.com in mid-May
@@aligntactical Thanks a lot!
💪🏻
do they have a left hand version
The locking block pin is a one way pin, but will consider a lefty-version in the future if there is enough demand.
Can Pre Orders be placed and do you deliver to Puerto Rico?
We will look at pre-orders as an option once we update the product on the website. Yes, we ship to Puerto Rico. Thanks
Is this uspsa carry optics approved? I heard it was then wasn’t
This is approved only for the new Limited Optics, along with Limited, Limited 10, and Open. Thanks
How can i buy that thumb rest ? This item is not sale in Turkey

Release date for Rival Dark side? Will this work on Elite combat?
Should work on both rivals ain't?
Will it get snagged on a holster or no
We have a list of holster manufacturers that make both competition and carry models on our website. Those have clearance for a smooth snag-free draw. Thanks
with thumb installed what holster does it fit. ??
We have many holster manufacturers we are working with for options at release. Currently we are using Black Scorpion Gear and Werkz which are already ready.
just sit back relax and put a thumb up
Do you guys make this for a lefty?
Not on the roadmap at this time, but if there is enough future demand we will. The Glock rest will likely be the next lefty part we make.
i assume there us not an option for lefties?
It may be in the cards in the future, depending on demand since it is about 1/10th the shooters. We will be releasing our first left-handed product for the Sig first.
Hello, I would like one for my Canik Rival. I live in Switzerland, send you? What price? Thank you for your answer. Have a nice day.
We are working to have it sold in Europe. Working with Brownells and likely some dealers once exportation is worked out. Thanks
@@aligntactical Thanks :)
Any plans for walther pdp version?
Definitely looking at it, but is more complex, so will take more time. Thanks
Has anyone figured out a holster for it tho? I would get one in a heartbeat.
Plenty of companies listed on the website on the product page with links
@@aligntactical I'll check it out. Is the gas pedal fixed in one position or is it adjustable? I am curious because I have smaller hands and my thumb isn't as far forward as most.
@@Bane_Diesel It isn't adjustable, but designed to work for small hands when gripping to the ergonomics of the pistol. Meaning, it will feel far forward if gripping the same as the P320, VP9, or Glock versions, unless the fleshy part of the palm is indexed into the palm recess on the grip. This is actually higher than the other platforms and will rotate the hand into proper position. This allows the activation of weapons lights by placing the thumb more forward and aligns with the stippling to index on the side of the frame.
Was it just recently sold out or has it been sold out for a while?
@@Bane_Diesel Sold out for a while but will be back in stock in around a couple weeks. Thanks
Will this fix on the tp9sfx
unfortunately it will not work on the TP9 series without the frame recess and only a roll pin. Just the newer Mete/Rival
can this be installed on a canik tti combat?
yes
I was considering one then realized my Kydex holster isn't gonna fly with it.
We have compatible holsters listed on the website. Adding any modification, such as a weapons light will have the same need for added clearance.
@@aligntactical Oh yeah I get it, my holster is for METE with the Olight. If I didn't have a holster already it'd be a no-brainer for me but I might still "pull the trigger" on one in the future.
Is this USPSA legal?
Would this work on a tp9sfx?
Unfortunately it is not compatible with the TP9 series, as they use a roll pin instead of a solid internally locked pin. Also, the TP9 series does not have the frame recess needed for the anti-rotation stop.
Is this part ambidextrous as I'm lefty??
Not ambi, we will look at making a left handed version after we finish left-handed Sig parts
Will this work for the METE SFT PRO?
Yes, all Mete and Rival series
@@aligntactical thanks for the reply and I will be ordering soon.

I see holster fitment issues now.
Works perfectly in the compatible holsters listed on the website. Adding a light or any other addition will likely change fitment.
When will u make a pfp gas pedal ?
Will this fit the SFX model?
Mete SFX not the TP9
Also, any luck yet on P365X/XL thumb rest yet? Would love to ditch the Tactical Development thumb rest on mine.
Getting closer
Date update for Sig P365x?
@@robcarden5741 Still working on them. Just been very busy with the latest product releases. Prototyping and testing ends up with dozens of iterations to dial in, so getting there. :0)
How do these work with holsters?
We have around 20 popular holster manufacturers we work with, so there will be plenty of options available at launch
Do they make that for TP9's?
unfortunately the TP9 design doesn't have the features needed. Great reason to upgrade to the Mete/Rival though. :0)

@Align Tactical sounds good. I think I'm going to be a customer for at least one of my Caniks. Are you working on something for the Canik Rival S? Are you aware they have a traction pad screwed on both sides of the slide?
@@cee3 Currently using a new Black Scorpion Gear competition holster they are releasing for this and a Werkz Outlier for universal fit with a TLR-1 light.
Is the thumb rest ambidextrous?, a lefty asking for help lol
This was made for the beginner operators
Thanks, while we do see newly designated Special Forces 18B Operators running our thumb rests (alongside those with extensive time in their given MOS), the product you are referring to is only approved for the M17 and M18 - that they run in Safariland 63XX duty holsters along with our other parts Sig Sauer is currently offering directly. This new Canik-specific product however, is really for everyone who seeks to benefit from increased traction for their support hand, to help secure the pistol during recoil, whether they create traction through stippling grips, skateboard tape, liquid grip, undercutting the trigger guard, or a higher grip. This greatly helps during competition shooting and indexing the grip at speed, as the grip often can be seen sheering on high speed camera, especially when sweaty and in rain without it. As such, this technically has never been sold or marketed to the Turkish military's Canik-using operators, beginner or experienced, but they do great for the many competition shooters running them here in USPSA. Our thumb rest offerings are in use by new shooters, USPSA GMs, LE/SWAT, military, and anyone else who want to lock their grip into the pistol. Simply lock the thumb and the muzzle has significant resistance against lifting during recoil. Our fastest sponsored shooter won last year's USPSA Nationals Bill Drill competition and can currently draw and get 5 shots on target in less than a second (0.97s). If you haven't tried it, we think you'll like it.
Where can I buy here in ph for Canik to sf elite 🤔🇵🇭
not compatible with TP9 series SF Elite

Doesn't disassemble like a glock😅
major difference is the slide will not slide forward to remove. Have to lift it up.
That weapon looks like crap even with the thumb rest 😂
Maybe, but it shoots like a competition pistol for 500 bucks.
Someone is jealous….
Does this work pretty well? Iv been thinking about getting the Wasatch comp and gas pedal
It works incredibly well keeping the sights on target. We maintain a shallow angle that naturally supports an aggressive thumbs forward grip and don't change the balance as to make the pistol front heavy. Have a lot of holster makers working on molds now and already have some that we are running before they are released.
