Midnight GAR giggin' at the coast! Gig, Clean, & Cook

Chances are, you have either seen Needlenose or Alligator Gar at some point in your life in some form of water. They inhabit much of the Southern US in fresh or salt water. If you can get them on a hook, it's a hell of a fight! We prefer the gig method down here in the low country, so I decided to strap a #gopro to the gig, and you can guess what happened next! All in all, we harvested 14 Gar that night, and in true ‪@_unguided‬ fashion, cleaned & cooked them right there on the dock. A lot of people consider Gar to be a "trash" fish, but if properly prepared, it can be fine table fare. Over in Louisiana, they consider it a southern delicacy. We're here to say that they ain't wrong!

Up here at Dale Hollow Lake in Ky, Me and some buddies used to catch them with treble hooks and use them for catfish bait. Makes me wish we cooked them now lol. But damn that was 30 years ago now, time flies.... Subbed
