PLOT: Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) is now divorced, alcoholic and jobless after getting fired for his reckless behavior and bad attitude. He is called back into action, however, when a cryptic terrorist (Jeremy Irons) takes New York City hostage in a lethal game of "Simon Says" and refuses to speak with anyone but McClane. Teaming up with a street-savvy electrician named Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson), McClane dashes through the city, trying to stay one step ahead of a murderous plot.

I love how Zeus is completely disgusted and amazed at how hardcore McClane is when he pulls a big ass metal splinter out of his shoulder.
With a Vengeance is easily one of the best 3rd installments of a franchise. At times, I'd argue that this movie is better than the original

@@tasteewheat393 I really really enjoyed the 4th movie, but it had just a few too many extra ridiculous stunts... just like the second one that I can't honestly say I'd take as an improvement... the whole truck chase harrier thing is my main bitch... everything to there was somewhat believable. #3 Takes everything that was awesome about #1 and gives you a second helping, and they use a bigger plate to boot!

@@Restorationshopyt Nobody under 60 really says "youse" anymore though. The Die Hard line is way more reflective of current NYC speech.
Also the "shinebox" scene, while great, could really be any US mobster. It isn't really NYC specific, Billy could easily be a Chicago or St. Louis gangster if you just saw the scene and didn't know the context of the movie, and it would be fine

Bruce was balding pretty well since the first die hard (if not earlier). He still looked fine with a shaved head like a lot of guys do.
What I meant was... they still had hair on their heads though Bruce's was thinning out by the day.
First time around I forgot John McClane was shown how the explosive worked. Later on I started to appreciate the continuity.

At one point in my life.. I worked in a hotel. I had a living in position at a country club in the UK.. In my room was a video, TV combi that had this film stuck inside.. I turned it on to play the film, and it would rewind the film automatically then play..🤔 😁 It did this non stop for a year.
I remember the trailers for the year.. Crimson Tide, Terminal Velocity and Dangerous Minds.

I really liked how they made Targo into a sort of badass Karl-like character…..only for him to be killed with only one good scene in the movie. He deserved another fight scene 😭😭

The studio had no faith in Die Hard 4 so they clipped it's balls and made it accessible to the kiddies. Very sad.

Is it me or does McClane always end up having his shoulder injured? Like, look at the first Die Hard he gets shot in the shoulder by Karl, in Die Hard with a Vengeance he gets a metal splinter in his shoulder, and in Live Free or Die Hard he shoots himself in the shoulder to kill the baddie of the film.

Buuut, even if they left the gold on the boat, it would take months to recover it all, melt it back, account for everything, split between the countries what each is owed. In those moneths, the Middle Eastern people, who bank financed the whole operation would make billions (investements, shorting the US economy, their own gold supplies would sky-rocket, not to mention the reputatioon of the US government would be shattered for decades after this and many countries would decide to move their money to other places).

Can someone answer me 2 questions.. Firstly why did Simon not tell his fellow comrad about switching the gold with scrap? He seems to have told all the other bad guys on the ship who escape with him? Also how does John instantly know where Simon and the gold are when he takes that aspirin? I know there's skme writing on it but I still can't workout what the writing means and why Simon would be foolish enough to give John the exact location of the gold by mistake
1) because it was two groups working together. Simon and his old military crew, and targo (that guy) with his own crew (which included his wife, the blonde woman). As simon said in this scene in his message to the news, they were hired to destroy the gold, so some eastern countries could use that to form alliances and get richer. Targo and his people were true believers in that cause. Simon and his crew on the other hand, planmed to just dteal it for themselves, since they had no loyalty. Targos wife fell in love with simon over the course of the movie (and likely before) so she was ready to betray targo. Mcclane killed all of targos other guys before, so simon didnt have to do that himself
2) simon bought the bottle of aspirin in the border town in quebec, which is marked on the bottle as its origin. So mcclane figures that this town in quebec is likely the place where simon planned the whole operation, and also where hes grouping up again to hide. As for why simon gave him the bottle, he was trolling him bc he thought mcclane was about to blow tf up lol. It was basically just a shit ton of luck that mcclane and zeus survived the bomb.

The thing with the first 2 die hard that helped make them work so well is that they happened in a confined space of sorts... first movie is in a building, second movie in a airport.
Third move became "Open World" but it works because Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson work great together. But it didn't work that well for 4 which became too much of a "big movie" as to say. And let's not speak of 5.....
