It's about time a plain Jane truck was brought back. Personally I want just a plain Jane truck. Rubber floor boards, vinyl seats and just a AM radio. The only splurge would be Air conditioning and outside mirrors and a full size spare. That's it. Just a plain ole pick-up with no frills to go bad.
as a former mechanic, I would gladly take rollup up windows and etc. However, the one thing that has saved my life several times is ABS - anti lock brakes
@@mannyg7238 that depends on the ABS system had an 05 equinox that would engage ABS on a dry day at 25 mph spat me out half way into the intersection pulled the fuse dam thing was trying to kill me my friends didn't believe me until it had a magic moment, I can go old skool and do without if need be, my 2001 cavalier tho the ABS works perfectly
yeah you got it right on the money less features less problems, and a full size spare I miss those days not the dam cheater tires

I've been trying to find a reasonable price to replace my Chevy Express van for over a year. 1st the local dealers had no new ones in early 2023, then there were 2022 & 2021 for the price of new ones. I've had 4 new work vans, a 79, 88, 98, and 2007 which I'm still using though it's rusting out. Only 79K miles but needed a transmission at 47K! I started getting offers for 2023 Express vans from one dealer for 10K over sticker price last year with a 6 cylinder! $56K for an empty 3/4 ton van which is over double what the last one costed! Used vans were around 45K for a 2021 with 25K miles! These prices are insane! I'm just getting by as a tradesman with people already complaining about the prices it costs just to keep up insurance and licencing! Chevy hasn't changed their design much in all this time! It's just an empty sheet metal truck! Somethings got to change. I wish that Toyota sold a heavy work van.
I'm at 77-year-old to army veteran.I've always taken good care of my Vienco I Spent $1200 on tires and an oil change.The truck was running perfectly but walmart didn't replace the anti freeze So I had to go somewhere else. They used such high suction pressure for so long to suck out the antifreeze. They blew the head gasket on my truck by the time I came home. The water mixed with the oil and the engine is ruined between recovering from. Injuries that have been treated by the V. A. And now the truck is no longer able to move. I've been in the house 4 over years and if it wasn't for home delivery of service because I live alone. I starved to death. When is this freaking truck from GM gonna be available so I could possibly Borrow money on the equity of my house so I can get the hell out of my house Before I die. Us vet 1966 1968
Part of the reason HiLux is not available in the UNITED STATES is that it can not meet the crash safety standards of the United States.

This vehicle is already in other markets, Brazil, Mexico, and possibly Australia. Its a proven platform in these countries, where usage far out numbers here in the USA. I do think there will be a reliability problem, lets see.
Datson had a nice small pickup many years ago bring them back.
My guess is that they will bring forward a 3 cylinder or even unveil a 3 cylinder engine. Not so sure they will get the buy in as intended unless a 4 cylinder. Anything less than a 4 cylinder seems like something is wrong with it in the US. GM may be betting that potential buyers want an anemic $10,000 truck. If so, they could be making an offer to cash strapped millennials due to student loans. Last thought, it's been a long time since high school and college students had an affordable vehicle that is all the rage.

I am a GM man, but man, I have a HHR and GM has basically abandoned us on parts for them. Don't know if I want another GM. I had 2 LUV's loved them. '90S-10, loved it. I want a 2 door short bed (4-4 1/2'). Chevy has a 3 cyl. It has more power than the old Iron Duke. No turbo. I just need enough power for it to get out of it's own way with me and a 400lb payload. Or make it a plug in hybrid. Prius with a wheelbarrow tub on the back....James
10,000 for a new truck? A few years ago i bought a 99 f150 6 cylinder for 1,500 with a few repairs that i knew it would need i have less than 5,000 in it and it's a great run around light/ medium duty truck.
All GM is doing is bringing the Montana up from South America where it's been made for several years with some minor safety differences.
i want a plane jane pickup that can occasionally haul a 4X8 sheet of plywood or dry wall, haul my camping gear and tent for a long weekend, and maybe the new couch home from the store. 4 cylinder, 6/7 speed manual transmission, 2 wheel drive, old school bench seat, and no frills painted metal interior. make the radio, heater/A.C. and even the spare tire and jack optional. bring that puppy in under $12-15k and i will be in the showroom this weekend.
Now that they don't have Opel and Isuzu I don't see how it is possible
I trust Toyota, but not GM, to make a 10k truck. Also, US dealerships can’t seem to avoid add-on and packages to make the price way above 10K. You can barely find one base model car on a lot.
Bs they won’t build a cheap vehicle that would affect their profits 😂
they make up the price deficit by data mining, it will track EVERYTHING! about you that you do in that truck. Oh and don't forget about doing everything possible to eliminate right to repair. it is only going to be reliable until the warranty expires.

The corvair wasn’t that bad. It just wasn’t balanced well.

GM used to make that small truck, it was very popular and even a waiting list. They went and changed the design and badging and so crashed a good thing. Not sure one can trust them again. There was a very dumb decision making somewhere in GM at that time to take good and break it.
Yeah Yeah Yeah, let's see what GM will sell us for $10,000. By the time you'll select which model you'll want, I'm guessing it'll be at least and additional 5-6K in Dealer Add-Ons maybe sub 30K out the door if you're lucky. Call me Mr Negative, back when will Cars actually sell for the Advertised price without any Hidden Charges. SO much for Transparency.
