At 7:51 he is making the center heart and star keychain with melted down keys from his childhood and his friends. Yes, he is literally making the Oathkeeper with the keys of his friends and memories. If that isn't Kingdom Hearts, I don't know what is. And if this guy isn't a Kingdom Hearts fan already, then God most certainly is.
That is so sweet heartwarming and cute! Those old keys are being recycled into something new and cool.
I wonder what normally happens to old metal keys...would old metal keys be used indefinitely or would they eventually need to be recycled or scrapped?

I think they do those weapon demonstrations at the end of the videos to get rid of any stress that may have built up over the days/weeks of making the weapon. That's just my opinion though.

Personally I reckon the dragonslayer spear would be sweet, looks gorgeous and its traditional so would encourage the guys to hand forge it rather than cut it out.

Considering that the edge is always gonna be off since the guard prevents you from moving your hand, I'd say it wouldn't be TOO bad, considering that the cut would most likely be shallow at best and nonexistent at worst with blade alignment like a keyblade would give you. So...would normal swords be better?

You actually get the Oathkeeper keychain from Kairi first, before you find the Oblivion in the Chest after the Riku/Ansem fight in Hollow Bastian. So, its not weird at all.

the Monado is a thick sword, that can open up, and has multi-layers of some kind of glass in it's ring.
I think that would be a VERY tricky build for them, so if they do have any intention of ever doing that one it's probably going to take some extra prep and planning before they attempt to do an episode for it.

uhm good question, i dunno, i think the broken fragments stick to the rest of the blade and made it a complete one, but maybe you are right and those fragments are floating, who knows xD
As a long time Kingdom Hearts fan, I must say that Oathkeeper and Oblivion are my favorite keyblades by a long shot. Seeing you guys make a proper 3D keyblade unlike the sheets you'll see in most shops, I think it's incredible.

+MrLeemurman Irony is, the Ultima Weapon's blade could just be a 'big' stock of metal, meticulously taking pieces off till they form the design (easy enough with their cutters), and just attach a separate piece for the 'teeth' - it's actually not that hard in theory imo, compared to Oathkeeper

Omegafire17 The main blade would have to be made of woven bars of metal and then come together towards the top to form the elbow the wing. They'ed have to make two hearts, one for the top and one at the hilt, and the guard doesn't even attach at the hilt, only at the butt of the handle, so putting all that weight on a single bar and making it stable would be tough, and annealing the different shades of blue white and gold would be a pain in the ass. It would be a lot harder to make Ultima Weapon than Oathkeeper. These guys didn't even make Oathkeeper properly. The blade on Oathkeeper is supposed to be thick and round and contoured, while their version from the hilt up is just flat.

here is a challeneg for you guys, build the reverse blade sword from rurouni kenshin with a twist! I wanna see it done as a build off between matt and ilya vs. kerry and sam. Ilya and matt would use traditional techniques while kerry and sam use modern materials and techniques! then to decide the winner stress test them against eachother or host a vote!

+Jonathan Grubbs Okay, I've studied gunsmithing, guns and engineering mechanics as a hobby. So while I am not an expert in any way, shape or form, I know just enough about it. And I am telling you that depending what you are asking for, at what level of authenticity, it ranges from extremely difficult, to flat out impossible.
RWBY's Crescent Rose? Very difficult, far beyond the capabilities of ManAtArms as they would need a gunsmither, engineers and their teams, the actual weapon themselves, which seems to be, at least, a 14.5mm diameter gun. For perspective, the American .50 BMG Caliber is 12.7mm in diameter.
Yang's Gauntlets? Possible to build, but will not operate like in the show. That is to say, semiautomatic. And it would very dangerous. That close of a shotgun blast, the user could shoot their hand off by accident.
Blake's Sword pistol? Possibly. Need to review it.
Weiss's sword? Someone has already done it.
Coco's gun? Yeah, if you think that transformation thing is at all possible, you need to return to reality.
Any of the teacher's weapons aside from the Blunderbuss? Nope. And all this is off the top of my head.

depends on which one they do. kh1 is literally a blade with a bunch of decor on it. I can see the blade getting forged and the decor getting casted in bronze from the wax then welded onto the blade. yeah, it'll be a lot of detail work but probably doable by this team. also, whys everyone wanting the Ultima weapon? why not the X-Blade?

There are plenty of Keyblades more challenging than Oathkeeper, but it's one of the most iconic and (comparetively) practical.

This is a very impressive build for such an un proportional and tricky weapon design. Good job

If u know anything about forging u would know this is a very tricky and hard weapon build. One being that the weapons blade has a very odd design and is hard to keep together. Also were the blade and guard/hilt conect is pretty thin if u look at it. In addition for y it's thin is simple. This is real life not a vidio game. If it were thicker and not so "floppy and thin" it wouldent cut as good. . . Also for those who are wanna bitch about how their swinging the blade stop. their blacksmiths not kendo masters .
Also oath keeper in KH isent small it's actually quite large for a key blade it's the same size as oblivion witch isent that small. This was a very good weapon design and theirs really no reason to fuss. remember this is real life not a vidio game it's not gonna be exactly the same.

Pretty much all Keyblades are very impractical, even by Final Fantasy standards.

I could see that being made, but they might go with a more simpler version of the Soul Edge. That would be one of the hardest builds to make just based on the size.
