The funny thing about Freddie Mercury you would never realise, is that he was painfully shy off stage and had a bit of a stutter and lisp when he spoke. But when he went on stage he was able to throw all that off and come alive!
He still was a very humble guy.
He loved opera, which I guess is the style of music he was singing in if you think about it!
In this documentary I saw about his life, he said the greatest moment of his artistic life was meeting his favourite opera singer lady (forgot her name but you can look it up) and doing a duet with her. He was so thrilled!
Freddie Mercury was so inventive and creative, he went places and did things with music no one had ever done before.

So with "The Show Must Go On", Freddie actually sang it in about 3 takes, but the bit about him slamming a good deal of vodka before singing (to help numb his throat, apparently) is true. Legend is that Brian May was concerned about whether Freddie would be capable of singing it, since Brian had written it, Freddie had replied, "I'll fucking do it, darling!" tossed back quite a lot of chilled Stoli, and then stepped into the studio and killed it, with a couple of extra takes for perfection's sake. Freddie wasn't alive if he wasn't making music.

this is so true. But I think they saw/knew Freddie was in a class by himself, and let Freddie be Freddie...a rising tide lifts all boats. The fact that Freddie has SUCH talent "backing him up" is NOT lost on those of us who know, but augmented his immense talent and put the polish on it, so to speak. Roger Taylor could SING, too, and his falsetto was better than Freddie's, so they melded it seamlessly to blow the listener away. Freddie's voice was always going to be the central point of the band, as I said Freddie is Freddie, and the whole is greater than the sum of their parts, indeed. The band itself was a work of living art.

He was a legend whilst he was alive, He's practically worshipped as a God now, and rightly so, Queen as a whole set the standard for musical performances, But Freddie just made what seemed impossible possible and no one has been able to match his charisma, perfection, performance ability in music since, and recently it was noted that he once went from a C1 low note to a C6 in a song, pretty much impossible by anyone else, not even soprano's can match that vocal range. Also if you go to Zanzibar, The island is practically a shrine to Freddie, You have the restaurants, schools, & other public buildings & spaces all named after him . The world lost the most important person in modern musical history in 1991, and I'm glad to say that even though I was young, I was here when he was still with us, and I miss him so much, of our generation and that before me of my parents it still breaks our hearts as does it most the world, that he passed away when he did, far too young, as well so many tens of thousands if not millions died of the same cause, its horrible. This song always makes me want to cry, as well. Freddie was so amazing, and his life was cut short. But what a body of work to leave behind! And that's certainly not discounting the other band members; Brian May's guitar playing is as much of the reason I love Queen as Freddie's vocals. And those precision harmonies?! They are the full package.

Lynn Thompson - Don't forget my fave, Deaky! Invented Brian's special amp. Took over their finances so the band didn't break up. Great songwriter. His bass carries all of their songs. He's their anchor.

First, let me say....FREDDIE MERCURY (the lead singer) IS NOT QUEEN....the 4 band members is Queen. I'm 57 years of age...and I have been listening to Queen for 50 YEARS...and it really warms my heart to see YOUNG PEOPLE developing an appreciation for REAL MUSIC...by REAL MUSICIANS. NO auto tone...NO loops and NO computers.
Bands in the 70s went into the studio...turned on the recorders and microphones...then PLAYED & sang the songs. Sometimes the songs were written, played and recorded all in 1 session.
Instrumentation at its finest is what Queen displayed on their records...and especially in LIVE shows. These 4 guys were MONSTER musicians. Glad to see u enjoying REAL MUSIC , young man. Congrats. 👍🏿👍🏿😎

Each member of Queen composed songs and you can hear their unique styles in each one, they also co wrote several movie soundtracks including Flash Gordon and Highlander. Freddie Mercury (the main singer) A proud Zanzibarian BiSexual man with 4 octaves and a talent never to be replaced. Of course Bryan May phD (lead guitar) a working Astrophysicist as well as the most amazing musician. Roger Taylor (percussion) with that wonderful falsetto for all the high notes that really helped make their sound even more unique. and John Deacon (bass) who was a multi instrumentalist himself and an electronics whiz kid who hand built the early amplifiers they used to get their unique sound. This is a once in a century combination of talent the perfect storm in a rock band.
