Pin holes. Oh my god. Lol. Just finished a walnut table. Legs and all. Pin holes in the epoxy fills drove me nuts.

I really appreciate that this table is a wood table with a little bit of epoxy and not an epoxy table with a little bit of wood entombed into it. I am not a purist but the epoxy trend is out of control lol. Your table is beautiful.

Thanks! I agree 100%, I’m not a fan of epoxy personally, other than to fill in small gaps and cracks. I find it difficult to work with as well.

When I use epoxy to fill cracks I will make a "dam" around it with silicone caulk to help reduce how much runs all over the surface. Great video and loved how it turned out! Thanks for showing the challenges along the way!

I just finished a cherry live edge end table. There was punk wood on 1 edge. I used a kutzall dish (scary) to remove most and stabilized the rest with water thin ca glue. So glad I found your channel.

Awesome build and great video. I have a couple large walnut slabs that need to be turned into a live edge table and I appreciate you showing all of the mistakes/issues that you had including trying to get a good glue line.

That was not a crack my friend. That was a gap, because the boards were not joined properly. Have you considered a simple hand plane to take care of the edges?

awesome work. having a problem making the live edge look good on a fireplace mantel. black walnut is great looking in the middle but ugly around the edges. any ideas ? it just looks dirty looking. help please!

Thanks! I’m not certain, but you might try sanding it down further or even jointing/planing (if you can) to a flatter surface. Walnut can definitely look rough if it’s not flattened and sanded far enough
