Come on Kevin, I watch your videos to escape reality.

It's funny that the point of this game is to learn to survive and Kevin is just chopping down tress and destroying nature and selling burgers on ebay
I wouldn't say the point is to learn to survive as you can't die or starve

In my games they grow back every 2 or 3 days. Maybe it's different for different game modes or consoles?
I cannot explain how much I was just staring at the weeds and just being like "but...all the potential seeds! D: "
it frustrates me so much
Not only seeds, but clearing all the debris would have allowed foragable items to spawn in
Yes!!!! It was soooo frustrating to watch! I came to the comments purely to see if I was the only one.
I'm doing a hermit run and I made a couple changes, I'm playing on the 4 corners map and my farm is barren, no grass/weeds/trees/stones aside from the quarry (bottom right) seed patch (top left) farm (top right) and tree farm (bottom left) leaving the farm on the last day of every season allowed me to start fishing up trash (on purpose) to recycle into iron ore, I already upgraded my pick and my axe and I'm finishing up winter
I'm just here wondering why he didn't continued scything the grass and the fiber for seeds on summer and autumn.
Also, probably the four corners farm would be a good farm to do this challenge
Yeah he seemed to forget about that right after he mentioned it the first time
It makes this painful to watch honestly
@@boxghostdesu7717 yessss
@@boxghostdesu7717 yes oh my gods just scythe that GRASS
well maybe, but the 2 small ponds basicslly only give you trash, and i think the bigger one either trash or bad fish.

I love that his entire future plan is for the community center, something that he needs two days to unlock not including the bundles he needs to do.
I had the awful feeling about this in the middle of the video and...I don't think I can live through when the moment comes..
Edit: it came earlier than anticipated DD:
@@pathe8519 It's such a sinking feeling, but you gotta admit you stick around for that chaos!

what is with the bots in the replies of this.....
@@daanthedoctor Yes, thank you! We aren't interested in anything but Kevin here, people! We come here to ESCAPE sanity!
I have 2 tips: you can sell the minerals to Clint when you get them out of the geodes. Any hoe-able ground has a chance to give you winter roots and snow yams in winter
For the hoeing thing, I wasn’t having much luck with that recently, so it may have been patched out.
Shhh, nobody tell him about clay farming
He gave up on getting mixed seeds from the bushes so fast
He was like “I have finite resources” not knowing that the sticks rocks and weeds grow back infinitely.
The whole “leaving home only once a year” rule actually lines up with what Linus does. Outside of events, there’s only one day a year he actually passes through town.
Which day?
@@wildmoose3979 Winter 15, he walks through the town, heading to the Night Market.
Doesn't he leave for his doctors appointment and holidays?
Tbh I think based on his first cutscene he does go into town at night to rummage through garbage sometimes he just doesn’t really interact with the villagers
@@Bananacake390 Nope, the only times he rummages through trash is in that cutscene. He never does it outside of that moment.
I feel so bad hearing Kevin talk about the duplicator while knowing he wont be able to get that in just one day of leaving the farm
Oh no you right
Yeah, he'd need to complete at least 5 bundles before getting the safe unlocked. Plus it only duplicates crystals, not all items
@@catello99 I dont have any experience but maybe that's for the copper?
@@dragon9261 No, only can duplicate gems. Can't do it for anything else.
@Eldrich CatGrill sure but they offer no rewards like crystalariums
He could have gotten so many more mixed seeds from those weeds it was devastating
In this video, we wait in horror for the other shoe to drop when he heads to the community center for the first time and learns several terrible things about the crystalarium
1) the vault is the last set of bundles you unlock, so you have to complete like three bundles before you have the option to buy the crystalarium
2) you can't complete any bundles on your first trip because you can't read Junimo
3) you learn how to read junimo by WAITING ANOTHER DAY so you can trip out on forest juice with the local wizard
Kevin's right about one thing. Summary: fecked.
Every time he mentions "buying" the duplicator I was like "Huh, I didn't know Pierre sold that". Then he mentions it being a BUNDLE and I'm like... Kevin honey... You can't unlock the Vault.....
ha yea, that is going to take some years, decades maybe
If this is a chick... I love the name...
If it's a dude.... Uhhhh... Not so much... But ok.. lol
Ring a ling a ling
And afaik duplicator/crystalarium only duplicates gems
@@strydyrhellzrydyr1345 what are you talking about
Poor Kevin, forgetting that it takes more than one day to unlock the community center and a few completed bundles before you can do the money bundles.
what the fuck happened in these comments dude these bots are after you
@@kippiecat they must think he is a rich target :/
Bro I can’t believe I had to scroll so far down to find a comment like this. My first thought exactly. Died when Kev finally found out.
@@kippiecat Looks like they're popping up on any comment that has a good number of likes.
I didn't finish watching the video but as I watched him chop down trees, the realization came to me about the community center as well and I thought "Oh Kevin, you're in for a treat"
The fact that you never left the farm and it was still so messy stressed me out more then I thought it would lol
I watched this with my mother who loves Stardew and has 4k hours in the game with her best friend. She mentioned a few things that you should look out for in the future:
- the bottom left part of the farm that has dirt is the best for planting crops and using sprinklers, but if you prefer to have them up by your house so you can skip through days and check them quickly that is fine
- make wild seeds!! If you get enough of the seasonal forage to make seasonal wild seeds, you can either sell the seeds for a price that is greater than the combined price of the 4 forage that you use to make it. You can also plant them to get MORE forage and make more wild seeds to sell or replant. She and her friend always make and sell wild seeds (because they have better things to do than actually plant and cultivate those seeds in their games)
- there were more things she mentioned, but either you brought it up later in the video or I forgot them since we watched the other day.
I didn't expect a follow up on this! this is fun. It makes me wanna try it myself. Not scything all the fibers in summer/autumn seems like a loss to me because you would've gotten a lot of seeds from it to plant in the beginning of the next season. Also keeping the forageables for the community center and using the extras to make wild seeds. But I do think trying this out on a map with a mines section would be easier. However, the crates and other stuff that wash up on the beach are also useful.
But wouldn't there be no reason to save things for the community center if you're a hermit?
@@RimaChan024 he wanted the crystellarium, which requires you to finish a few bundles first. Could’ve tried to complete those when he goes out once a year
omg the fibers he didn't scythe were giving me major anxiety lmao
I would say:
You're allowed to go to the town at the end of spring.... and every year you're only allowed to leave the farm at the end of spring..
that way you would need to get the most money in the first season to get the fishing rod, crab pots maybe... thinking ahead for lvl 10 fishing, you could get the backpack, start the community center and such... so you have some actually plausible and entertaining progress after one year.
also... dig up dirt for clay... for money
and maybe save up money for a structure of some kind.
@@audreyl606 gotcha, thank you for informing me! Classic case of me not watching the video fully before replying lol.
I think the motto of this playthrough is "I've just googled it - I'm fecked"
After some thought, I've decided to try a modified version of this challenge. I'm allowed to leave the farm once per season, but for an added challenge I'm not allowed to use the shipping box - all money needs to be earned by selling to shops or completing quests during my one day of freedom per season.
The main aim is to complete the community centre by the end of year 2, which I've calculated is possible with strategic use of those 8 days of freedom. I'll be playing on the beach farm (for the foraging, ocean fish and supply crates), with enemies spawning at night so I can get mixed seeds from wilderness golems and get the loot needed for the adventurer's bundle without eating into my time off the farm.
The secondary aim is to get 4 candles in grandpa's evaluation, which I think is only going to be possible if I pull off completing the community centre and can also reach the bottom of the mines (with staircases, because I doubt I'll have time for any other method!).
omg how's it going??
@@frogandtoady Robinson of Crusoe farm got to the feast of the winter star in year 1 and it was going pretty well, but I then got distracted by a different challenge (and a bit bored of fishing all the time) and haven't gone back to this one yet
@@hannahthetford5952 LOL fair enough
@@hannahthetford5952 That’s my personal problem with challenges. Very fun until the reality sets in and you get bored
@@DeathnoteBB I also find that my favourite part of difficult challenges is planning my strategy. Once I'm well into a playthrough and I've got through the difficult parts I often switch to a shiny new idea so I can have the fun of planning strategy again instead of executing it.
I do intend to go back to this challenge sometime because I do enjoy placing how to spend the precious days of freedom, but it hasn't quite happened yet!
Kevin spending an entire year selling sap and not noticing he wasn't getting any money for it is extremely funny but also stressful
According to the wiki, sap sells for 2 g and each tree drops 5 -10 sap.
He literally showed that he was getting money for it though.
How is it in every “stay in one spot” playthrough , Kevin always ends up just cutting down and planting trees?
Cause that's like, the only thing you can do? lol

So, Linus?
@@elizabethb4168 Yep, Linus
Just so you know, anything you get out of the geodes you can sell immediately to Clint, and be sure to get rid of any of the wood logs, small tree stumps and weeds, as they’ll prevent other things from growing and spawning
Hope to see another stardew video!
how do you get to clint if you cant leave your farm?
@@recentlettuce834 he can leave once a year
Don't get rid of stumps (at least not all the time), they still spawn seeds.
"One tree give's you loads of stone but obviously one stone give's you one stone" I think the Madness set in before the island
Kevin, you wholesome Irish lad that we all adore…it physically pained me to see you walk past all the forge items on your first day in town, as well as not sell the petrified slimes to Clint. To be fair I’ve forgotten before that you could even sell the stuff you get from geodes to Clint, but ignoring the forge was still painful.
We live and we learn, I guess.
Still absolutely love this series though, keep up the good work and try not to go completely insane.
Even with all the mistakes he still got a million in year 5 so those didn't end up mattering🤔

This and minecraft One Chunk are amazing! I love these challenges and I'm so happy Kevin followed up his last stardew valley vid. I didn't expect him to carry it on and I'm so happy he did, this is amazing
This is fun! I'm actually curious how much it would change with the four corners farm since that one has a little of everything including the little mining section. Also, whenever you have extra energy try hoeing the ground. That will give you clay/ coal/ artifacts and sometimes ore. Then pickaxe the ground to unhoe it so you still have a chance for stuff to spawn in that spot.
Him trying to “sell” to Gunther makes me want to cry, he could have sold all those valuable gems to Clint. Also he could have gotten so much money from getting all those seeds from the weeds and growing them, especially the two-season crops
he also could have kept the acorns from the trees to make a massive grove out of his farm
Noooo 😔😭😩💔💔
🥺🥺😰😱😱😭😭
I feel like I should add that I don’t mean I’m frustrated or disappointed, I just feel bad that Kevin is working so hard when it could be way easier for him
The gems aren't THAT valuable.
kevin should start a new world where he dates everyone in the town, that seems up his alley and loves to see his reaction with everyone ganging up on him
This was fun to watch! Even though it hurt every fiber of my being to watch the gameplay, I'm excited to see how year two goes.
Also, I wonder if selling your soul to Joja would make a hermit type run work better. I've not done one yet, but I'm under the impression you buy the things you would normally get via the CC bundles.
Apparently Joja just has money bundles, like the vault.
I love how he says he wants a VAULT bundle reward, but in order to unlock them you need to complete 4 other bundles.
Omg 😭😭😭 well I guess he’ll have to wait a few years
Good point xD
Poor Kevin I hope he reads this
the traveling cart often sells items that help complete the bundles
@@dinolandra but those items rotate. The chance he can get it all is slim.
Hello There, just like Kevin’s character, I too am a hermit who rarely leaves his house

Ah, so much fun seeing someone go crazy :) Looks fun. Maybe i´ll try a light version. A character with social anxiety, only leaving the farm once per week, and only allowed to speak to two or three people when out. That way maybe one can actually get through the game.
I have lowkey thought about doing this: Not leaving the farm, only interacting with people who come to drop stuff off or kind like tutorial missions, using the foragables and just seeing where the game takes me
"tell me if you want to see more of this" he says, as if he thinks we can't possibly want more Stardew content 😑

I love that this way of playing Stardew is absolutely not how the game was intended to be played, but it's still so much fun to watch
Every type of challenge run is "not how it was meant to be played". That's why they're fun!
I love your older Stardew series, but the idea of only leaving the farm once a year brings so much chaos that I can't stop watching!
a seed maker would be incredibly useful in this type of playthrough but you cant craft it until farming level 9
Kevin: Realizes his inventory would fill up with Geode goodies
Also Kevin: Knows he can sell to Piere
Also Kevin: Doesn’t realize you can sell ores and treasures directly to Clint
Granted I have literally 100+ hours in this game spread on different consoles and i didn't know that
I just started and i didnt know this thank you!!
you can??
Wouldn't that involve leaving the farm?
Edit: nvm I'm dumb
Literally came here to say this.
Alternate Title:
"Living like Linus in Stardew Valley."
Assuming you plan on doing another year, you could get the upgrade right at the end of the year, and then go on the second day of the next year. It would technically fulfill your once a year requirement, and doesn't really extend the period which you have to stay on the farm more than a couple of days. It's not an ideal solution, but it's the best one I can think of.
Kevin is the best CZcamsr to watch post surgery. I’m not even in pain anymore.
The editing on Kevin’s shopping list was honestly really good! So satisfying to watch him tick off stuff and hurt extra hard when he couldn’t get the duplicator. Good job on that!
A thousand people have probably already said this, but remember that sprinklers don’t work on most of the beach farm!
You can’t take it directly out also it doesn’t sell for anything
@@allisonroggen7773 It doesn’t? Guess I remembered wrong, will edit the comment
I've decided to do a hermit run as well, I swapped it so that you can leave the farm after three seasons of time so on the first yeah I left one the first day of winter, and the second year it will be the first day of fall that way it rotates through all of the seasons ☺
Really love this video! Actually my first time actually looking at this game and totally convinced me to try playing it myself. I've played so much I almost got through the first year in 4 days.
You should clear out all the regular grass so that there is more space for items and foreging things to spawn
But if he needs the grass for hay or something he'll need to wait for it to grow back. Getting a decent patch naturally takes like, a month.
@@PointsofData yea but he never leaves so what's the point in getting hay, he didn't mention a barn in his checklist from what I remember 😔
Kevin heads up. If you want to make the donation for the crystalarium then you'll have to unlock the vault all in one day. Be prepared to complete at least 5 small bundles (not the full room just the bundles)
Omg these damn hex bots
Fun fact, the grass you can scythe for hay blocks item spawns.
So all that grass that he can run through is lowering his chances of getting new stuff like tree seeds planting in the ground or weeds that can be cut down into wild seeds.
Normally when I play this game I buy as many season-long crops as possible and go from there. I'll get the corns and the grapes and the hoppes and hoard the produce for one big sell-off at the end of the month. Get some wealth, invest in sprinklers, then get social in town and traverse the mines.
Seeing someone do an entire year at a time on just the farm is an interesting new perspective. Thank you for being so wholesome yet so absurd in your videos Kevin. It really brightens up my day.
His lack of cutting the weeds for mixed seeds is triggering me.
Right? He even heard people say "Cut the weeds for seeds" and he went straight for the grass.
Same
Also, if he would keep all the grass cut down, maybe more treasure nodes or other debris would pop up. Keeping the grass there is counterproductive.
@@fugithegreat not everyone is good at every video games. You don't have to min/max every playthrough

kevin tree saplings need at least one empty space in every single direction (8 spaces around it), otherwise some of them (if they're next to each other like yours were) won't grow into big trees!
They only need one empty space in either direction from the saplings? Shit, I've been spacing them out a ton because i thought it was eight in every direction 😭😭
@@sandpitturtle3577 same omg i feel dumb now

very kind of you to make such a beautiful tree murdering montage. they deserve it
This was both painful and entertaining to watch, and it makes me want to attempt the challenge myself. Clay farming (and in winter digging for extra forageables) would be another way you could make money without leaving the farm in year 1, and of course actually scything the weeds to get the mixed seeds (although I think they're more likely to spawn next to other weeds, so the best strategy probably is to leave some to begin with in order to produce more for later seasons).
If you do complete year two, in the winter, plowing in the dirt gives you snow yams. So if you're short on trees, you can just hoe the dirt incessantly and find snow yams.
