Side B breaks a full shield only if you get the "not fully charged aerial double hit hammer swing", which is stupidly difficult, and down b doesn't even do half a shield while every other similar down b can disintegrate a full shield
@@paIapin well kirby is basically invincible during his down b so it balances out

I mean Yoshi does have the potential to be one of the scariest characters in the game. He has one of the highest damage outputs of any character, is heavy, has a frame 1 escape option, great frame data and combos too.

@Zero I mean a whole tier is generous but is it really to niche. Would be a great option to read tech chases on platforms as if they shield it breaks. As well as to hard read get up shield on the ledge. If it shield locks it means you just need to connect once so I could see it being useful.

Nah even Kirby's hammer is better at breaking shields if you use both hits of the aerial hammer. It's really impractical to do but I think it's probably more likely than the egg roll scenario

@@silikeez9641 you'll never see either of them realistically break shields, but I guess you can kinda ledge trap with Kirby's hammer, while Egg Roll's best use is literally the shield break thing
@@edward8380 true if you’re shield broken by either you’re just getting outplayed lol, neither really have any continuity in an actual competitive setting. But I feel that yoshi eggroll could be more worth going for than Kirby hammer, mainly cause of the mobility and the genuine mixup, if you get it, yippie… if you don’t it’s a lot less punishable than Kirby’s hammer

This only works if the person is on a ledge and is shielding? Trying it on practice and definitely just flying off the stage
A Yoshi player tried this on me at a monthly tonight.
I didn't realize what they were going for, and I parried the first hit on instinct. The rest of the hits got auto-parried.
I don't know if that's a consistent interaction or dependent on the speed the Yoshi player taps at, but it basically saved me last stock.
honestly its cool yoshi has this. i never seen someone use egg roll intentionally but now it actually is pretty useful

Jigglypuff can do a similar looking shield break with Rollout at the edge of a platform. Give it a look 👍
Except the move takes so long to charge and is so predictable that even Little Mac can stay in the air long enough to avoid it.
@@wingedbluj1674 Little Mac doesn’t even need to stay in the air to stop it, he can just use a smash attack to tank the rollout
@@pokeaust7800 he could probably just rapid jab, rollout has a negative disjoint anyway

This is actually amazing. I realized Yoshi's egg did high shield damage a long time ago, but my intermediate ass had no idea how to apply it.
This honestly might make Yoshi a menace. This is the type of shit that might make Ultimate last for some years to come. (Short of modding wavedashing into it lol.)

This will be patched out before anyone makes real use of it
the move still sucks you can react to egg roll and do anything out of shield before it gets hit
(Btw this is mostly for people in the comments saying the move is somehow good now, still a really cool tech)
Nobody has ever reacted to egg roll. Theoretically you’re correct but nobody ever expects the move. I’ve never seen it punished
