    Boeing should have kept the 757. It could have been equipped with newer engines, avionics, and maybe slim line seats to increase profitability.
    The 757 is a powerhouse. An Airbus A321 isn't much smaller than a 757 and its engines push about 24,000 pounds of thrust each. Compare that to the 57 pushing 38,000 lbf each engine.

    • @mah584jr
      @mah584jr  Před 9 lety

    • @calvinrovinescu6166
      @calvinrovinescu6166 Před 9 lety +1

      The A321s engines have 33,000lbs of thrust each engine. PW1000 equipped A321neo will have 35,000lbs of thrust from each. The A321 will never be as good as the 757 in terms of takeoff performance and range and will never be as fun, but it is at least a much better replacement than the 737-900ER. I wish the 757-300 would have had hit the market sooner, it would have sold a lot more.

    • @gerardmoran9560
      @gerardmoran9560 Před 7 lety +1

      I'm with you. The 757 was the best Boeing I've flown. Instead of giving the 73 a new steroid shot every few years they should have kept the 75 line going. Imagine the performance it would have with the latest generation of engines. Now Boeing is upset that the A320/321NEO is pulling ahead.

    Airlines practicing EM overhaul see phenomenal fleet service from the PW2K year after year. The Air Force chose the engine for the C17. The PW2000 engine wears the military F117 engine designation.for the C17. Interestingly the F117 is an FAA certified engine as is ofcourse the PW2000.

    Libslayer007, 19 tons of thrust each engine versus 12 tons of thrust each engine means 7 times more drag produced, resulting in less efficiency and airlines simply cannot afford the inefficiency.

    • @gerardmoran9560
      @gerardmoran9560 Před 8 lety

      +Richard Fleer I think you're using the #'s wrong. Please elaborate, I'd like to discuss this. Cheers

  • @richardfleer1905
    @richardfleer1905 Před 8 lety

    Simple math really. How many engines are there on this particular model of airplane? 19 tons of thrust times two equals 38 tons. 38 tons of thrust required to move a mass like this one is creating quite a bit more drag than an engine creating only 24 tons of thrust or 12 tons per engine.
    It's a simple explanation. What are the four forces acting on an airplane? Yaw, pitch, thrust and drag.

    Everyone PAY ATTENTION: Starting at 1:20 , notice the angle of the horizon during takeoff. That corresponds to the angle of the plane during takeoff. In other words, when filming takeoffs in planes, do not attempt to keep the horizon level in the viewfinder! That makes your footage look amateur, and conveys next to ZERO sense of lifting off the ground at high speed. 'Mah584jr HD' really gets takeoff done with his playlist, and you really feel the effect, whether viewing on a phone or a fifty-inch smart TV.
