For me personally. If you’re flirting with a different man other then your husband. You’re TRASH. And for Erik. He was on set and in the writers room. He was well aware of what a jerk Colleen is. And he knew full well who her husband was and he knew that her husband was clueless to what she was doing. As far as I’m concerned. He’s a creep for hooking up with a married woman and she’s trash for screwing around on her husband. But he also knew that she was flirting hard with the Director first. Nothing quite like sloppy seconds for old Erik

I NEVER felt the need to look at any partner's phone because that is their private device and never imagined I ever would. However, the ONE time I had a feeling something wasn't right I fought against everything that told me not to do it for weeks, then when I caved and finally looked at my ex's phone; sure enough he had been cheating. I don’t think it’s crazy to check your partner’s technology if you have a *strong* suspicion of infidelity.
I’m tired of that being pushed as something crazy to do.
It’s not “crazy” to want to make sure your romantic partner is not cheating on you.
It’s a major health risk if they contract an STD unknowingly and infect you!
I also think it’s completely normal to want to make sure you have actual evidence before accusing someone of something so serious? If there is nothing, then no harm is actually done. If there is, you can ensure your personal safety.
It just feels like a concept pushed by the type of people who cheat. The same as billionaires saying you don’t need money to be happy, it feels completely disingenuous.

I disagree. I think if you're suspicion is that strong and you're worried about the health risks of STDs, then ask them. If they say they haven't and you still don't believe them, then break up. Invading somebody's privacy and crossing that boundary is something I don't think can be justified by suspicions of someone being disrespectful of a dynamic you are still choosing to be in.

      @emiainscough2945 Před 9 měsíci +3

@RoCkbunny769 I agree that it's different for abuse victims, but your comment didn't mention that and seemed to be a more general point about phone checking as a behaviour that protects people against STDs, which I disagree with. What I'm trying to say is that in a non abusive relationship that is safe to leave, crossing that boundary can't be justified by suspicions (in my opinion) however strong they may be because you can always chose to leave.

well after giving it some thought, you could be talking to friends or family about their mental health/trauma/etc. that you want to keep confidential for them. or even your own struggles bc it can be difficult to talk to your partner, even if you are married, about some stuff right away. additionally you could be having issues or have had an issue with your partner and are seeking advice from someone about it. it’s not always out of malice, but the ideal situation is that you would trust your partner enough not to look through your texts and your partner would trust you not to be cheating or lying.

You can't cross the line, if you do the relationship is already over because that means there is no respect anymore. I'll end the relationship right there because that's toxic red flag. There is privacy and then there is secrecy. Guys don’t look into girls purses because that’s a breach of privacy, not that there is anything secretly happening or is some form of guilt, and I think phone is apart of that privacy category. No one should be able to look through your phone just because they are your “partner” I have tons of personal information, passwords, doctors notes, appointments, reminders and so on that I particularly don’t want people to see fo no other reason than it’s private or embarrassing. I think the main thing is that when a “privacy” matter starts to become a “secrecy” worry, that’s when both partners communicate and come together and personally if my gf was REALLY concerned or uncomfortable and asked politely to read my messages, I’d let her go through my messages, and I know she’d do the same if the roles were reversed. Of course tho we haven’t had a good reason to have that concern because we didn’t skip the first step that colieen did, which is clear communication with your partner lol.

I think it depends on your reason for doing it. Plenty of people obsessively look at their partners phone for the wrong reasons, like being insecure or abusively controlling. The snooping through the phone can be unhealthy… I trust my partner now and would never.
But in a past relationship I had a feeling of suspicion of him and this girl he became friends with. When we would hang out they seemed flirty, and he started acting weird.
I remember a bonfire at her house, they both disappeared inside at one point, and I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach.
So I went inside to look for him, he was in the basement playing video games and she was getting more snacks for everyone to bring outside. So I was thinking, ok maybe I’m crazy.
Shortly after, he suggested that we go on a break because my jealousy and paranoia was starting to get to him and he needed space to think…
Only for him, after a week, to ask for the break to be over because he missed me too much, and knew we were meant to be together .
Shortly after our break, I kept having a nagging feeling about the “break”, so I checked his text messages and found out they had kissed at the bonfire. And were flirting big time.
And while we were on our break they hooked up…
When I confronted him he owned up to it, apologized, and said he thought he wanted her, but realized it didn’t feel right. All he wanted was me.
Being dumb (and 20) I decided to forgive him and try to start fresh in our relationship.
The only thing I asked was if he wouldn’t talk to her anymore.
He said no problem, he didn’t plan to again anyways.
6 months later, I see a message pop up on his Home Screen on his phone. From her.
So again, I felt distrust, opened it, and found they never stopped talking or hanging out.
    So I finally ended it…

I don't know if this is being talked about enough, but what is concerning is the level of enabling from the Ballinger family. It may not be that surprising factoring in that Colleen is the leading money maker of the family and they all are under her wing. I just wouldn't give her that much power all morals don't apply to her. This just brings up the bazaar world and upbringing of the Ballinger family. It's sad because they got me fooled as a wholesome family. I had my thinking though from Colleen's brief descriptions of growing up that the family was more conservative Christian to later evolving as more accepting, just seeing how they Chris and Jessica are accepting of their children's differences and Rachel coming out. The denial of Trent's behavior doesn't surprise me though, but should have been squashed and monitored full force, especially after being aware of it.

When you know someone has a history of cheating and you have this feeling so deep down that they are cheating, you do things you know you shouldn't to check and know for sure. I would confront my ex saying that I knew they were cheating, that so many things didn't make sense, but the gaslighting was so real, so deep. I really felt like I was going insane. Mutual friends did eventually tell me that I was being cheated on and it had been going on for months, the whole time I suspected. This was pre smart phones and I really didn't have a way to check my exs phone/computer but honestly, I would have if I could. I was literally losing my mind.

I think if you have felt compelled to check your partner's phone because they have given you a reason to and you do, and you find evidence of their infidelity, it absolves you of the fact that you invaded their privacy, when they have betrayed your trust and have put your actual physical and mental wellbeing at risk. People forget about STDs and think of cheating as just this superficial thing, but you have no idea how many people I have come across as an A&E nurse either with a complicated STD that they have caught from their partner because they cheated, or because something happened whilst they were actively cheating (infection, injury etc.). It's a health risk. It's not a joke.

Fact check before calling someone a calculated liar please. Joshua does have green eyes. Well technically they are hazel(which it says so on his drivers license). I checked, they are mostly grayish green with some blue undertones and a tiny bit of light brown streaks. Hazel eyes vary in the color combination of blue, green and brown, from person to person, so sometimes they have more brown, or blue or green than others. My hazel eyes appear russet brown usually but If I’m wearing green then the green that is in them stands out more. My brother has similar hazel eyes to josh (mostly grey green and then some blue with a little tiny bit of brown) and depending on what he’s wearing sometimes they can appear more blue than green but they are definitely hazel/ green.
It may not seem like a big deal but I personally think it is when you call someone out on a lie that isn’t a lie!

Says the lady who screamed EFF YOU EFF YOU! YOUR RING ISNT REAL THAT YOU BOUGHT YOUR NEW WIFE. That was very not ok to include yourself in someone relationship drama on top of the legion of children Colleene was talking to about josh.
Because colleen told her that josh was a bad person....and that he was talking about her. She thinks that how you treat past spouses dont matter if its someone else situation... which I find very odd. because it does matter.
This Narc was emotionally abusing and serial cheating on her spouse and thats not an important thing to take note of?
Trisha sadly is a fool because she doesnt want to admit that she was dooped multiple times by this woman. In her own way she was barking at person for COLLEEN. just like how jojo is barking rn
She still holds back a lot...and its sad. Esp not admitting she was wrong about josh but vaguely says she doesnt like him for other reasons???What reasons... that person wasnt your friend and was someone elses' spouse so what are those valid reasons?
Other than the lies Colleen told her when she was annoyed with the man.
Josh now has nothing to lose to talk about this situation because sadly people who suffer from abuse sometimes have to wait it out until they can talk about things and get over the fear they had at the time. They are not in a safe place to talk about anything.
I just thought you would think Trisha would have more sympathy but..its always like mememe With Trisha if it doesnt affect her she doesnt care.
