If your new here, welcome. Be sure to subscribe and turn on notifications so that you don’t miss any of our daily uploads.
The highest mountain in the world is Mount Everest and without delay, these are the top 10 highest mountains in Africa.
    10. Mount Ras Dashen(Ethiopia) - Height - 4.550m
Ras Dejen is the highest mountain in Ethiopia and tenth highest mountain of Africa. As part of Simien Mountains National Park located in the Amhara Region, it reaches an elevation of 4,550 meters. Due to the height of this mountain, it frequently snows on the summit during cold evening temperatures but the vast temperature differences between night and day means that this snow doesn’t last long as soon as the sun rises. In winter snow falls rarely, since the majority of Ethiopia's yearly rainfall is in the summer, but if it does it usually lasts for weeks or months. The first recorded ascent by a Eurasian was in 1841, by the French officers Ferret and Galinier. There is no verifiable evidence of earlier ascents by locals, but the summit climate and conditions are relatively hospitable, and there are nearby high-altitude pastoral settlements.
    9. Mount Meru(Tanzania) - Height - 4.566m
The ninth highest mountain in Africa falls to Mount Meru in Tanzania, just lying 70km west of the highest peak in this video, Mount Meru sits at 4,566m. The majority of this mountain was actually lost during a volcanic eruption over 8,000 years ago that blew away much of the eastern side of this volcano. After a few recent eruptions, with the most recent being a minor eruption in 1910, Mount Meru is now considered a dormant volcano.
    8. Mount Luigi Di Savoia(Congo / Uganda) - Height - 4.627m
After ascending the six highest mountains in the Ruewnzori Range, with 16 peaks bagged in total during his expedition to the region in 1906, Prince Luigi Amedeo finally had a peak named after himself after reaching the summit of Mount Luigi Di Savoia on 18th June 1906. Mount Luigi Di Savoia is similar to the other larger peaks in the region in that it is composed of many s
Coming in at the 7th position is mount Gessi at 4715m. The twin peaks of Mount Gessi create another jagged ridgeline that is flanked by large glaciers on its northern side, although these are retreating fast. Prince Luigi Amedeo and his team of explorers observed that the whole of the western side of Mount Gessi had been covered by a glacier during their first ascent of this peak, these glaciers have now shrunk down to a small ice sheet. The mountain is located between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda and is a tourist hotspot.
    6. Mount Emin (DR Congo) - Height - 4.789m
Mount Emin is made of up two peaks of a similar height, a north and a south peak, with a large glacier sandwiched in between the two peaks. The south peak, named Umberto is the largest of the two and was first ascended again by Prince Luigi Amedeo and two companions in 1906, which was impressive given the fairly technical nature of climbing involved to ascend the southern ridge up to Umberto.Mount Emin is one of the six mountains of the Ruwenzori range and like Mount Gessi, it is located north of the triangle formed by Mounts Stanley, Speke, and Baker. Emin and Gessi lie on either side of a long narrow valley running north-south. Emin's twin summits are Umbertoand Kraepelin. The mountain rises to a rocky north-south ridge with the higher peak at the southern end.
    5. Mount Baker (Uganda) - Height - 4.844m
Also sitting in the Ruwenzori Mountains National Park and just 2.3 kilometers from neighboring Mount Stanley is Mount Baker, Mount Baker reaches a lofty height of 4,844m. Similarly, to all of the other peaks situated in the Ruwenzori Mountains National Park, Mount Baker is comprised of a cluster of fairly inaccessible summits joined together by a jagged ridgeline which is topped by Edward Peak, which was first climbed again by none other than Prince Luigi Amedeo.

Also this makes E Africa get temperate forests, just like European and North American forests, instead of Tropical rain Forests

    • @karlschultz9334
      @karlschultz9334 Před rokem +1

Dalton Harmon, one of the problems in the names given, is about who is the powerhouse at the time. Hence, we are yet to find any Black African races that dominated Europe. It can be contested that the Egyptians are black but historically that is still debatable. Particularly European names are given to areas of Conquest, furthermore, in terms of those powerhouses or countries, they made claims by the names they promulgated by formulating historical records. We know that in northern regions of Africa like Mali, in the clay city of Timbouctou (a Toureg name) (Timbuktu) ancient libraries of books and journals abound with a host of African names and records detailing the past history. Possibly many of these records were not fully understood so the new Colonial master and conquerors simply "EURONISED" whatever suited them for simplicity and hence time and history dictated those names to remain into present-day time.

Once again this program gives the viewers disinformation. Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya are NOT mountains, but Volcanoes, active or inactive. Mountains geographically are formed totally different to how volcanoes are formed. The activities of a volcano and or a mountain or range come into the topography of an area very very differently. Time for the producers of this program to go back to school and revise Africa's tallest mountains and mountain ranges. The name that's given to Kilimanjaro and Kenya as Mount does not mean they are mountains. The word mount simply means: A mass of earth, or earth and rock, rising considerably above the common surface of the surrounding land.

@@stephenkatua9395 You need to go back to school buddy and understand how mountains and volcanoes are formed. Quite frankly you just dont know, that is so evidently clear. Neither Kilimanjaro or Kenya are mountains, but Volcanoes.

...about everything being or supposed to be in Kenya:
...Everything in East Africa was presumably supposed to be in Kenya to satisfy the interests of the white Kenyans; the white settlers. The eastern boundary of Uganda was initially in the area of the present day town of Naivasha in Kenya. They kept moving the Kenya western frontier westward so the settlers could have more land and settle their issues from Nairobi other than Kampala. The last Eastern Ugandan land was given to Kenya in 1922 as a birthday gift to Queen Victoria!! They re-drew the boundary to include Lake Victoria!! When Amin talked of this history during his time, the then president Kenyatta senior, nearly went to war with Amin. The famous fact about all this is; Barack Obama 's grandfather was born in then Uganda. His dad was born in Kenya - of course after the famous land grab. Go figure.
