- A short documentary on a comparison of Mount Everest and K2. The two mightiest mountain peaks which represent their respective mountain ranges - the Himalaya and the Karakorum. In addition to being the highest peak, the Mount Everest is also the world's most prominent peak with a prominence of 8,848 meters. The prominence of K2 is 4,020 meters. The topographic isolation of Mount Everest is infinite whereas the K2' is isolated upto 1,315.6 kilometers. This is the shortest distance between mount Everest and K-2.
The mount Everest presents dangers such as altitude sickness, weather, and wind, as well as significant hazards from avalanches and the Khumbu Icefall. Weather remains the biggest challenge for climbers on 8000 meter peaks. But the weather conditions on K-2 are worse than Everest - thus reducing summit success. K2 sits to the west of other high and large Karakoram peaks thus takes the brunt of the west to east weather fronts. The weather has been notoriously difficult to predict and many deaths have occurred as a result of weather surprises.
The death rate of climbers on K-2 is much higher than the Everest. The death rate is about 4% for mount Everest but it is 23% for K2. In 2008, eleven people died that season - the worst ever on K2. On 18 April 2014, 16 Sherpas died in Nepal due to the avalanche that swept them off Mount Everest.
The mountaineering and climbing data specifies that K-2 is tougher than the mount Everest! K2 is the only eight-thousand meter peak that has never been climbed during winter or from its East Face. Even though K2 is lower than mount Everest by about 800 feet, the climbing comprises of an entirely different level of difficulty, complexity and skills-set. K2 climbers must have proven long term skills in rock, ice, snow and several other climbing techniques. Any lacking may cause fatal results and death.
The successful number of summits also has an enormous difference. More than 7,500 climbers have summit Everest. On the other hand, the number of successful summits on K2 is still less than 400!

K2 is the king of all mountains 🏔. 🇳🇵 the first Nepalese team to conquer K2 in winter 2021 expedition were so happy and celebrated for months it clearly shows that they know from inside how hard it was to climb K2 🏔 compare to mount Everest 🏔.
Everest is for tourists
K2 is for professional climbers.

From what I've heard in interviews, many people consider Everest being easy. Like climbing up the worlds tallest hill. Tourists can summit Everest, pros die on K2.

I saw K2 back in 2004. I think I forgot my soul there. I am lost in the memories of K2 each day over the years.
I can say the same about a place I visited some time ago. Never been the same again after I left and all I want to do is go back
You are lucky to see that beautiful mountain by naked eye, am from seeing it only in pictures and videos have the same feeling about k2, i pray that some day i can touch the foot of k2 (The Loveliest Mountain)

Yeah K2 seperates the pro's from the fledglings...however...I still respect a climber who got up & down Everest successfully. It's STILL a very tough & dangerous climb by any standards. They should'nt allow people to leave trash there....they need a rule " you bring it up - you bring it down ! "

Yep. An 80 mile hike just to get to basecamp?! And I saw a video of the road people had to drive on their way to K2. I'm surprised anyone even survives that drive!
I have so much respect and attraction for K2. I really want to go there as a tourist. Not to climb but just hang around at the base camp and stare at that beautiful mountain everyday of my stay there.

The most difficult mountain in the world to climb is the 9th "Nagha Parbat" also in Pakistan Karakoram. It has taken many ghosts
Its not nearly as difficult as K2, its more dangerous to to frequent avalanche
Nangaparbat is not part of karakoram. It's the extreme edge of western Himalya

Thank you that makes it clear what bottleneck is, I've always tried to find it in pictures but couldn't, it's like an end of big block of ice slowing sliding off summit, and ends in huge wall of ice, that view shows why it's so dangerous

Look I really wanted to watch this but the robot voice really killed it for me.
I have been reading summit reports every ,mountain has a different set of land scape and importance, however from reports as well as based on s summit report by a climber she says in it that' "i have travelled to all world glaciar mountains but the rakha poshi glaciar in karakurum range is very fantastic. It has a very unique land scape and terran most beautifull glaciar , puntain on earth my

What gets me is that climbers go through many spiritual and religious rituals and prayers of luck and permission in order to climb these behemoths and then leave their trash and biological waste all over them. I understand that they want to climb or descend with as little weight as possible on their backs but that’s no excuse. You wouldn’t sh*t all over your campsite and just leave it there. Successful summiteers should have to turn in Xlbs of trash and waste in order to receive their certificates.
