I love how NSW have so many talented options to choose from for origin. This oversaturation often leads to squabbles and infighting over choosing the right squad, such as this. Gus was right, with Turbo undergoing surgery, but I hope NSW selectors go Gallen's way 😅

Turbo on the wing makes heaps of sense. He could just rove around and come off the shoulders of whoever makes a break. He would be a more than adequate finnisher of trys also.

turbo on the wing :') As a winger you need to be a finisher in the corner. Turbo for me wouldn't be anywhere near good enough for that. He'd dive for the corner once and shatter his body

Assuming no more injuries occur, I’d probably have either Suaali’i or Tupou on the left wing, with To’o on the right. Latrell at left centre with Trbojevic on the right. Tedesco should obviously be fullback, and have Wighton be the 17

Jack wighton is nowhere near a neccesity for the blues in the starting lineup or the bench. Turbo and latrell if fit are out centres and even if they arent, campbell graham deserves the spot so much more than wighton.
Wighton levels up for origin, plus he’s a gun when he wants to be. U tell me who else in the origin has won a dally m and Clive Churchill. put him anywhere in the team and he has a Hugh chance of being man of the match.

@@TheAussieDog But he can also cover fullback, 5/8, backrow even. It's unfortunate for the good centres out there that wont get a look in, but they aren't Turbo, or Lattrel and Wighton is so much more versatile as well as being tough as teak.

I just can't justify giving Teddy the fullback spot this year.
Latrell definitely doesn’t deserve it straight out the gates. Not because he’s a bad player but because it’s a toss of the coin whether he wants to actually touch the ball. No denying it when Latrell is having a great game he is probably the best fullback there is. But he has too many games where he just doesn’t go looking for the ball. Teddy is at least constantly busy and threatening around the ruck.

While it would be good for Tupou to get picked, I just don’t think he’s good for how fast the game can get. The DCE kick moment forced him into the mistake because he must’ve been tired. So I wouldn’t pick Tupou. But then Gus can come up with any counter-argument possible.

I want Wighton in the team as much as anyone but come on now, pushing Turbo to the wing when he's been the best player in the last few series at centre is not the way to do it. You have to look for a winger to replace Addo-Carr - Tupou is in the conversation but there are others like Kiraz who are making some noise.
The real answer is probably putting Nicho in at 6 and, if you are absolutely desperate to include him, having Wighton on the bench. Personally, I'd rather see Burton on the bench as you then have an elite centre and five-eighth as cover (with the ability to shift Nicho to 7, so you have Cleary covered too).

Gus is so blind, look at Turbo play, he never wants to run the ball hard into defence he just folds. He doesn't want to take hits. I'd choose Wighton over Turbo any day and Wighton was amazing last year.
And then Papenhuyzen comes back from injury on absolute fire what do you do. How can you leave that talent out?
Like Gutherson, he's very talented but not the best NSW fullback and you can't put him at centre or wing. He will miss out.

Yeah he levelled up a few years back by missing a few tackles that cost us the series if I remember correctly
Centre is not his jam.. He’s a talented player but he’s 100% NOT an Origin centre. He got exposed numerous times in centre. It’s either the 6 for Wighton or nothing at all 🤷🏽♂️

Having 2 dominant halves in Cleary and Hynes might not work, some don't understand this and think you should just pull the best players out of their club teams and throw them together but it doesn't work that way.
Hynes would probably have to turn into a "role" player to complement Cleary, he won't be able to play the same role as he does at the Sharks.

Tupou cost us that game in Sydney last year. He is nowhere near as good as the Fox, not even close. If the Fox is available, you pick him 1st up. It is that simple. With Wighton now retired from rep footy he is out. Find your best 5 available and make a spot for them. NSW has an embarrassment of riches in the backs. Who cares if a FB plays wing or a centre plays FB etc. They are all capable players and they would have to play 'out of position' anyway to cover an injury in-game. Teddy, To'o, Latrell, Turbo, Fox should be the first choice backline with Edwards as first man up should one not be available.
People like Gus is the reason NSW are losing when we are clearly the better team. CHOOSE TOUGH ORIGIN PLAYERS, Wighton is made for state of origins just put the lad on the field… Turbo put anywhere don’t care just want him on the field.
