    3/4 rings are very common in Europe and they give a much tighter grip. To install them, you simply put a screwdriver through the ring holes on each side and squeece the handles together. This will open up the ring and it will fit over the scope tube without any scratches.

    One trick to installing the Gen 1 top halfs is to use 2 allen wrenches in the thru holes. Use them to squeeze it open and to stretch the tops to slip over no scratches on my Zeiss scopes.

    thanks for making this video. I have a pair of these ring gen2 very difficult to set the screw all they want to do is cross-thread. (maybe i just got a faulty pair)

      Thanks for watching. That sounds like quite a issue. Do they screw into the base without having the top part of the ring on? Check the screw threads for marring. If anything sent leupold a email and see what they say.

      @@CDOES so there no issue whatsoever for the lower to the rail its when you try setting the screw when the top part of the ring is on the optic that they dont ant to find the thread properly. your right i should send them a message, for the price i paid they have just been sitting on the shelf

    I got a pair of the PRW2's and like them so far as well. Leopold's instructions indicate to torque the ring screws to 25 inch pounds. I imagine the QRW's have the same instruction? Did you go with that? I did not thinking anything about it as it is what Leupold has in the instructions card, however, after doing more research, most people seem to go with 18-20lbs because scope tube crimping may be an issue. Should I be worried with sticking with 25lbs?

    I have these and they are robust but when you tight the screws the gaps are not even on both sides, only if you tight them without the scope. Which is kind of strange. I don´t know if that is on purpose but seems odd.

    They really can nick the surface of your scope with these - I use a little bit of oil when slipping off/on.. then you have to rub off..

  • @Crt5
    @Crt5 Před 2 lety

    do they hold zero if your taking the scope on and off all the time or transporting the scope and gun separately?

    I installed a set of these on a Browning Maxus II Slug Gun, and they worked loose from the base.

    Thanks for the video. I just bought a VX-R 4-12x, is that what you have? Would these rings work for my scope on a Ruger 556 MPR? Thanks!

      @CDOES  Před 4 lety

      Sorry for the late reply. I have a 4-12 VX-R. Review to come soon. You'd have to make sure that they would be high enough to clear the rail with the optic.

    They aren't Gen 1 lol. I came here to figure out how my Detacho Rings work. Mine are Leupold but they are off my grandfather's sporterized 1903. They were probably bought and installed in the late 50's early 60's and are different then yours. They are steel strap that tightens rather then a thicker piece like yours

    Why can't anyone figure out how to make mounts that work as quick as claw mounts that don't need fancy fitting? Just snap them on and unsnap them, doesn't seem that complicated to me & I've worked in factories as a fitter, guns are far more uniform than what I worked on, I have several designs that would work similar to claw mounts and always go to the same spot even as they wear & they're all the same other than the heights an models they fit , just pick the base for your model and rest is the same for all

    Nobody moves the rings from scope to scope. Once mounted they stay mounted.
