I am proud to be am American. I give my thanks as a civilian, and the highest regard for those of you who served/serve. Tears in my eyes.
I helped build the visor in front that lifts up. Each plane I built as if I was going to be on it. One of the best things I've done in my life. 😀
Larry Clark, I applaud your comment. As an employee, you're a company's most valuable asset.
Excellent video!!!! Up close and personal. We know the C-5 is a giant plane, but when you see everyone and everything around it, it really puts it's size into perspective. Such an awesome aircraft.
Always a sight to behold. Even after 20 years in the AF and being retired for 25.
It doesn't need a long runway to take off. What an awesome technology it has!
Absolutely incredible takeoff!
Take off or landing, this never gets old.
Not the same without those TF-39 engines.
Stationed at Rota Spain early 70s fueled and serviced C 141s and 72. C 5 started arriving my Chief and I TDY to Torrejon AFB to train on servicing C5s. Really a lifetime experience
AME2 G.Wilson USN
I always will be amazed by the size of this plane, and it even being able to get off the ground....!?
Good old Travis bird. There should be a new "Planes" movie featuring all military aircraft with the C-5 A/B as the "leader"
This bird is one helluva engineering masterpiece. It is very impressive.
Yes, indeed, a lot of engineering man hours applied to the design of this aircraft. Same with the Boeing 747-100. My Dad wore employee badge number 120 for Grumman Aircraft Eng. Co., Bethpage, NY, he joined them in 1934 he was shop foreman for many years at Plant 2 - I learned a lot about planes from him when I was a little kid. I grew up in Village of Hempstead, NY, about 1.5 miles west of Mitchel AFB, and got to see nearly all of the MATS Atlantic Div., piston powered transport and troop carrier planes when I was really little, around 1956 thru 1961. I loved my childhood!
Flew to Saudia Arabia in a C5 during the end of the first gulf war.
I Love ❤️😍✈️
Great catch !!
A Castrated screamer crumbs , Dover big bruiser now sounds like a giant dyson vacuum cleaner,or Zanussi washing machine.Old B model maybe underpowered but GOD SHE SOUNDED AWESOME!!!
"You sure you got enough runway Captain?"
Captain "Hold my Beer"
An empty plane is for sure to stop in that short of a distance. While in the USAF. I worked on the C5 for over four years and I left just as the B models were going into modification.
I love the fact that this videos length is 747!
"Excuse. Pardon me. Sorry, just slipping through. Hi, how are ya?" *Later on, whispering to a shy, little Carbon Cub*"Pssst. Hey kid. Watch this. BLEHHHH" *opens mouth up*
15 seconds and up she goes , awesome
Thanks for watching captain and shift commander LABonte. Air mobility command patriot wing commander usaforce. May the force be with you
Awesome!👍👍
This plane is America's apple pie! I'm proud to be an American!
Without the awesome sound of those TF-39 turbines, this Tiger sounds toothless ☹
CF-6 jet engine with landing then jet blow to braked-short landing, but- not having jet blow to braked with TF-39 Jet engine why too long landing,,, C-17 with jet engine with jet blow to fast braked - very short landing
She has new engines
Set slot of records with these new engines
LOVE THIS VIDEO , GREAT JOB
Surprised about that small aircraft landing in the wake of that C-5.
I always thought the C-5 was underpowered. I’m so glad to see it with so much more power. I was stationed at Altus AFB and mostly worked on C-141’s and C-17s. Occasionally I got to change an engine driven hyd pump. Etc. Finally the C-5 is the Badass it was supposed to be

Awww, my favorite "widdle pwane"! I love the Galaxy! Look at me, I have too many wheels!
Much quiter with the new engine😊
That thing is a beast
The Antonov 225 maybe bigger, but the Russians only got one of them off the ground, the US has built and routinely flown 131 C5 Galaxy aircraft.
Ambala air force me bhi hai c5galaxy
Cool.
@3:42 you see it's most absolute massiveness !
Oh man...........👌👌👌
The C5 Galaxy is the second largest plane in the world
3rd.

@@juliusadams1931 Stratolaunch, AN 225, C5
The big problem I have with the Antonov is they only built 1, or 1 1/2, or whatever.
Q imponente!!!!💪💪👏👏👏👏
Engines fogged up on takeoff. Must have been a humid day. Sky looked like it could have rained.
Hi, Magnus, The fog you see on take off is a water injection stream applied to all engines to increase the power or thrust output for the engines for short durations, typically applied at low speeds and at take off.
oui
Sounds like Airbus 350 & 380

if the C5 doesn't have the TF39's, its NOT a C5! BOOOORRRRIIINNNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

@@iginiobluevest9259 WHAT?
No, it’s better in every way.
No wonder it stopped so short they had to use the actual brakes
Hey guys who served, thanks! Can someone yell me what's the port circle on the fuselage just past the wings... heading aft? It's driving me crazy not knowing its purpose.
The toilet - just kidding!
I believe that's the APU exhaust
Depending on which port you are referring to. The two close to each other are for pressurization, the one by its self on the lower part of the fuselage is the APU exhaust.
Apu exaust
Awww no engine scream???
Unfortunately. As vf84tcat1 commented, "Without the awesome sound of those TF-39 turbines, this Tiger sounds toothless". Trade-off of sounding badass for efficiency haha
Tom's Planes ehh true. But I can understand that they needed more reliable engines for better reliability and efficiency, thrust, range, and payload. I support it, but I do miss the old TFs. The C-5s are still awesome to look at and see though. It’s for the best, and to make sure they stay in the sky.
What is the smoke coming from the wheel well?
Heat from the brakes. A lot of plane to stop in such a short distance
@@TomsPlanes thanks. I wasn't sure.

This is nothing, you ever been to a U.S. Air Force base where there are lots of these things stationed...
I have! Dover AFB has quite the inventory, visited their AMC Museum and airshow many times in the past. At their 2017 airshow they had the C-5 pop flares in a photo pass as well as perform a tactical short field landing along with the C-17. Always fun to see the big birds do their thing
@@TomsPlanes Cool, I grew up not far from Charleston AFB back when all the planes were still camo painted, I was actually USAF active for 20 years & my first base was Travis, I was there for 3 years...
@@vinewood8295 Awesome, bet that allowed you to see a lot of cool things over the years. Anything in particular stand out?
Nope, well then again yeah. The first time I saw a C-17 reverse thrust into a parking spot that was pretty cool. You know at some locations we have planes parked like cars, planes like the C-130 because you know a C-130 can also backup but seeing a jet engine aircraft do it was like jaw dropping the first time...
Not the same without those old Trents on them.
The Lockheed C-5 BAB (Big ass bird)
The C5 Galaxy is the second largest aircraft in the world the Russians cargo super jet is the largest in the world with 6 jet engines on it but the C5 Galaxy has the world's strongest jet engines in the world the thrust is unbelievable
Only one is operating isn’t it?

Ruslan and Mriya are way better
That's a HUGE B#TCH!
,ds,
It looks like copied from Russian AN-124 Ruslan
Нет никогда!
Yeah, some copying going on, but the other way around. The C-5 Galaxy first flew in 1968. The AN-124 Ruslan didn't fly until 14 years later in 1982!
Dimosh - You dumbass, do some fucking research before you open that shithole on your face!
