I remember going for a bike ride through Joint Base Andrews. I hear loud engines roaring over the trees, and when we got past them I saw the C-5 takeoff. One of the most magnificent things I’ve ever seen.
@@747heavyboeing3 He retired in '92 (Dover), passed in 2013. Two memorable incidents in career: When arriving at Ramstein, did a skid landing as front nose gear didn't open on C-5. Then about 1982, made an emergency landing to hospitalize a retired Naval officer who took I'll riding back from Europe. That man was 4-star Admiral John McCain - father of Sen.John McCain.
I took this engine sound for granted, and now I miss it so much. I saw a C-5 do touch and go's a while back and thought it sounded different. I hadn't realized they yanked the old engines. What a difference. The experience was forgettable. Still, its a big ass plane, but that old engine noise made it stand out.
I'm always amazed at how fast these beasts can get off the ground. I live just east of Tucson and we get to see these beauties coming and going from Davis-Monthan AFB pretty often. Having A-10's constantly flying around makes this a sweet location.
This air frame entered the US Air Force shortly after I did (I enlisted in1969) ... an amazing aircraft and it's really great to see it still flying after all this time. Thanks for posting.
I was stationed at NAS Corpus Christi in the 1990's, and the C5's would come to the base from time to time. What an amazing experience it was to see these huge aircraft taking off. They seemed to be going so slow when taking off.
What is also amazing about that plane is it first flew around 1969. If I recall, one was also shot down during the US evacuation of Vietnam in 1975. If I remember correctly, they were evacuating Vietnamese orphans. That plane is over 50 years old and still fascinates people.
I love that howling sound of the C5 Galaxy, especially during takeoffs 🛫 🛫 and landings 🛬🛬 . Soothing music to my ears. Like the sounds of the ocean with, the ocean breeze at night time. 👌🏾 They really need to bring back the old screaming, howling engines on the C5s. 👌🏾

WoW, the 737 taxiing by it looks like a cessna in comparison
It's really huge!! The 737 at the beginning looks like a humble Cessna next to it!
Nothing better in aviation than the sound of a C-5 starting to accelerate for takeoff.
I sure do miss that sound!
Yeah, now it has the newer engines of current wide body airliners i.e. A-330, 747-4 and MD-11s
Absolutely its music in my ears
Such a short takeoff
Yeah, when it's in full throttle, it's awesome !! 😄
It’s incredible how fast that thing can rotate given its huge size.

the quickest way to draw a crowd - have one of our Air Force airplanes land, taxi and take off anywhere in the world.
The unique sound of the C-5 is not just melodious to my ears, it's memorable to my mind of my brother who flew the giant! RIP --Raul & T-39's
Did your brother pass.
Its an amazing transport.
Best large transport ever

Thanks to him for his service to this country.
May rest well . All respect from heart. He is still flying these big gracious birds for you and your family. Grand video for Raul

It sounded badass as its size with TF-39s, now it sounds like an Airbus.
The C5 was a true monster with the TF39s. Now it sounds like a boring 747.
i dont care what anyone says but the tf-39 are the best sounding jet engines out there
This plane never ceases to amaze me! I spent half of my life in the Air Force. Seeing/hearing this baby never gets old! What an incredible aircraft.
Born and raised in Air Force, married to an airman, who was a jet mechanic on these beauties.

My favorite airplane since I was a kid. Love the old school sound of the engines. An absolute beast

B 52s will fly another 25 years or so after reengined.

Love those original TF-39s.
Love that sound, totally amazing airframe.
I spent 4 years at Dover Afb loading those monsters. I miss the sound of those engines.. I miss being on the flightline
I LOVE that buzzing/ grinding sound that starts coming on @ 4:12
Great video. Hello to our Polish friends! 👍
A C-5A/B! Gold!
And I LOL'd at that cute little Seven Three driving past it!
Great to see our Polish Allies like big airplanes too.
THANK YOU. I'm polish
Thank you 🙏 and years ago beautiful place ☝️. 👏👏👏🛫👋☮️
❤❤❤NO OTHER JET HAS THAT AWESOME WHINE
Those four turbines are really humming.
Miss those old TF39 engines,it's just not the same without them.
This big guy is from Westover Air Force Base here in Chicopee Massachusetts.....the Patriot Wing! Thanks for sharing the video!

Actually, it was the engineers and builders (like my dad), at Lockheed here in Marietta, GA that brought this plane to the world 👍

Love that engine sound

Ten dźwięk ukazywał majestat i potegę ameryki i c5 galaxy.
RIP TF39's, it isn't a C5 without the TF39 sound!
Ret. C-5B Flt Eng...agreed.
That's what I always say
You're right, just not the same without that thunderous sound from those TF39 engines.
Gadansk is in the nation of POLAND and they are on our side today.
We have an F-15 unit that deploys to Lask Poland occasionally from here in Westfield Massachusetts!
and the c5 is american built and owned by america, the closest you guys will ever get to having a c5 is a c17

Who says big girls aren't purty? Total Beauty!
Total beauty!
that 737 looks like a bug...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's amazing to know if the wings were removed off the 737 that it could park inside the C-5 and go for a lift. It's so amazing that is even possible.
lmfao
Seeing those fat planes takeoff, blows me away.
Those TF 39 engines sound mean.
Reengined C 5s sound like airlines. B 52s will become boring sounding when reengined as well. Compared to original.
They really are a marvel .
The spool up is sexual.
Engine music is delicious!👌
I so miss hearing those TF-39s screaming to get that big bird up
Very nice Video, thanks for sharing!
I've been to Gdansk - then I discovered potato vodka and that's about all I remember.
I'm sure you had a great time... what you do in Poland stays in Poland.

A big WOW!

Nowadays it doesn’t feel normal without the Tf39 on the C5
I saw a C5A do a touch and go @ BAFB

Does a bird strike do ANYTHING to these engines?
First 4 minutes is bs. After that it doesn't matter if the plane takes off or not.
Who needs fireworks to make noise! Just use the C-5A/B Galaxy with the TF39s with the volume level set to "11 - SUPER LOUD"!!!
they don't leave quietly.

Danzig is rightful German soil
No. Hitler tried to make it German soil but got his ass killed doing it. Danzig existed only in some dreamers' minds.
I’d say that Germany has been treated fairly.
