to be fair, dreamcatcher's NFT project didn't go on. insomnias complained a lot about it and the company fixed their mistake. it seems that they didn't know about its consequences at all fortunately they donated millions to school fence forest development projects and the girls constantly talked about their bad habits that changed
BEcause is my fav song by Dreamcatcher, I really wish they do something more gothic like this again, but I dont dislike none of their title tracks, I like all of them in different levels. I dont really get why so many people dislike Maison, but its taste, we cant argue. My least fav song by DC is Fly High, I dont dislike it, but I dont love so much as the others.
I thought Pretty Savage was just fine until it got to the end and instead of the party chorus I'd been expecting they did THAT. For the last chorus alone, I will probably always be slightly obsessed. I love how detailed your commentary is! I don't have all the same best/worst opinions but agree with so many of the things you point out.
For me, Idles best bsides are Dhalia and Lucid and the best title tracks are Oh my God, Lion, Hwaa and Hann. I like the title tracks they doing now(since tomboy), but I dont feel they are as good as they used to be before?
I also enjoyed their previous concept more. Tomboy was great for me and queencard is ok but this hyper self aware concept they've been going for since Nxxde is gonna bite them in the butt if they're not careful.
my fav bsides are probably Lost and Moon and i agree, their previous concepts/tracks were better. when i listen to queencard i just hear tomboy, like the first verse, the rap section, the bridge… it just feels so repetitive and older idle’s tracks were nothing but. i hope they switch up things a little because i really love them and i’d hate to see their music quality drop so much

For me, Deja Vu is the best Dreamcatcher song, followed by Piri. I grew up with symphonic metal, and Deja Vu is really reminiscent of that. The song is pure perfection, makes me emotional every time I listen to is. Especially the acoustic version!!
I agree with all of your choices, but the comment about Soyeon's English didn't sit right with me. I understand why people dislike her use of English in songs, and it's fine to voice that opinion, but a lot of her English lyrics are written with the intention of being unserious, or as an expression of self that she would rather not have another person write, so calling Soyeon's English fucking shit feels a little brash, especially as a non-native English speaker myself. I still think you make a lot of really good points in terms of music criticism though :)
Her English writing has genuinely made some gidle songs unlistenable. Saying you make crap on purpose doesn't change the fact it's crap. That what you call *Pretentious* I've seen a lot of people suddenly saying her English is bad on purpose to disguise the fact it's just bad writing. She can't speak English and has the worst pronunciation in the group. She doesn't actually understand the undertones and thats why fans have no choice but to take it at face value. My bag is as good as it gets for her and Nathan did half the work on that song helping her with all the English. However Soyeon is a freaking AMAZING Rapper and Performer. Her sections in KDA and Stage presence really hit.
I don't get why she doesn't just write the lyrics in English, go over them with someone who knows English well, and figure something out so that what she wants to say comes through AND it makes sense.

@@shanlie3505 i believe the dissonance between their korean & japanese releases is because their japanese songs were produced by the team behind akb48? and those releases can be very hit and miss (i love some 48-group songs, but the rest are just ....) i'm not 100% confident on making this claim, but i believe part of the deal mnet made with the 48-group when putting on produce48 was that the 48-group producers would get to manage the japanese side of the final group (hopefully i'm not missremembering this)

Yup.. That NFT bs was DCC's worst move. I've checked it in some posts, and boy it was not worth it at all. I'd rather spend money on fan made art works than those. Anyways, to your point, BEcause is great. Been a fan back in late 2021 and this is one of them songs that got me hooked to DC. Its like a fusion of genres. For me its a go to song if u want to change your mood for a bit. As for Maison, I really love the way they arranged it. Though it may sound simple, its still catchy specially the chorus. The downside for me is the bridge. The way the key changed and all is kinda abrupt for me. Overall its a good song. Aftr all, its DC's first win track😊

About Dreamcatcher I'll definitely have to agree with Maison because it was pretty meh, especially for kicking off the Apocalypse Trilogy (?), Vision and Bon Voyage, especially the latter have definitely done it for me though. Still can't get over the guitars in Vision and the way Bon Voyage's choruses hit. Still stuff like this depends on what people enjoy. BEcause is really up there on my list for just how well it utilizes their sound and abilities, with the unique concept.

At first listen however, if you don't get what they're trying to do or are just new in general it sounds pretty cocky is all I guess. I'd honestly pick it over Maison any day.
If that rock version was the official one for “Pretty Savage”, I’d 100% agree with you! But since it’s not… It’s actually my least favorite song by BP. Not only was I not impressed by the usual empty chorus structure, but I just hated the stem that they used. It has a similar quality to the one in Kep1er’s “We Fresh” where it just feels like the sound is grating against my eardrums. I remember hearing the rock version for the first time and thinking “WE COULD HAVE HAD THIIIS???” I won’r forgive YGE for depriving us like that lol Aside from that, loved the vid! I respect all of these opinions tbh. They had great points to back them up besides just how it sounds subjectively. Personally, for After Like, I felt like the sample got repetitive really fast. Im obsessed with nearly all of Ive's new album (with the exception of hypnosis and heroine and cherish..)
I could add SO MANY more songs to the worst list. I agree with most of your choices, especially during Maison I was glad you mentioned it. Honestly also a bit surprised you managed to find a "Good" song for Kep1er, because I think exactly the same with pretty much no real vocal.
Kep1er has good songs tho. It's just that their good songs are usually bsides that no one has the time to even bother listen to ( eg. back to the city + other good songs I can recommend from many genres too ). Up! is the only unanimously loved title track (by the fandom itself). At this point, we stan for the talented girls & their bsides. Also, they mainly criticized the music quality not the girls vocal skills. They are decent enough as *some* 4th gen groups in terms of vocal skills which overall is a generation focused on performance anyway.
I completely agree with your opinion on step back. When i first heard it i was like this instrumental sucks and does not fit the melodic line or vocals AT ALL. I could never get into it because of that. But also the "step back silly girl" line like what is that

C'est clair et pertinent, bien loin des commentaires stupides qu'on trouve souvent dans ce genre de contenu. On voit que tu as une véritable sensibilité musicale, ça m'a passionnée de te lire ! Je suis même d'accord avec la plupart de tes choix, SAUF un ! Je trouve que Maison est très très très loin d'être mauvaise (et je ne dis pas ça parce que le titre est français ;) Les riffs de guitares sont percutants et dynamiques, l'écriture est intense et sûre d'elle, la mélodie est tranchante et rythmée. La chanson gagne en intensité tout le long et évolue de façon naturelle. Avec Maison, Dreamcatcher élargie ses horizons en ajoutant une touche de funk qui rend la chanson plus décontracté et unique. Je pense sincèrement que c'est une des meilleures title track du groupe. Le message et les paroles n'ont aucune importance face à une production aussi qualitative ! Quitte à choisir la pire chanson de Dreamcatcher, j'opterais pour une de leurs ballades inutiles et bien souvent fades qui concluent chacun de leur album avec un fan service évitable. Maison est objectivement bien meilleure qui toutes ces chansons fatiguée et sans créativité. Sorry for french, it's was too complicated for me to explain, so I did not risk myself in a language I'm not fluent in. Anaway, amazing video, it was fun !

I have to say I disagree- as an avid listener of everything Dreamcatcher and an autistic person who has a restricted interest in Dreamcatcher, Maison tried really hard to cash in on what was popular at the time (Tomboy, Good Boy Gone Bad) and ultimately fell flat- the lyrics were borderline Soyeons TikTok rap bad at points, specifically in the chorus and it gets rather unlistenable after a few gos. However, love the instrumental, to be honest, save for the very end of the song. Also the whole NFT song and blatant political messaging meant that even for me, a anarcho-communist I was pretty much out after the first few listens haha I guess my real issue is with your ballad comment, as while some of their ballads are yes, fan service-y (Dear, Always, etc) songs like for instance A Heart of Sunflower (which is about loving someone who will never love you back and knowing that they won’t but still trying to get them to) or Trust Me, which is a heartwrenching ballad about literally not being okay (the climax of the song is “Just being happy is all I really want”)- have different meanings and aren’t fan service, and even if they were… it doesn’t make them bad songs, but I can see your reasoning why you wouldn’t like ballads, I just like hearing their vocals get another chance to shine, I think. Personally, for Dreamcatchers worst song, even though I bashed Maison, I’d really have to say Curse of the Spider as I can’t even get though the first 10 seconds. Sorry if this was really harsh- autism and tone reading don’t go well together, but I did enjoy reading what you had to say even if I don’t agree with it. I’m a casual fan of idle but hearing Miyeon did a diet sponsor doesn’t surprise me, it just disappoints me that they’re not practicing what they preach, but you also have to remember these groups are here to make money not to enact social change, and therefore any time they try it won’t come off right, no matter how earnest because it’s a cash grab at the end of the day no matter what. A song that kind of does it but isn’t known for being a “enact social change” would be boca for me, if only because we know the messaging but it wasn’t directly telling us to save the fucking jungle or telling us that we don’t need to be pretty while also being about being pretty and knowing one of them advertised a diet thing. I guess, tl;dr it has to go back to the fact companies really only do this “social change” when it’s profitable and they think just marketing it as such will make it good, and that’s where it ends up coming off really insincere :3 I would say they should stop but we know they won’t because capitalism and BTS showed you can do it and make money

Anyways, to your point, BEcause is great. Been a fan back in late 2021 and this is one of them songs that got me hooked to DC. Its like a fusion of genres. For me its a go to song if u want to change your mood for a bit. As for Maison, I really love the way they arranged it. Though it may sound simple, its still catchy specially the chorus. The downside for me is the bridge. The way the key changed and all is kinda abrupt for me. Overall its a good song. Aftr all, its DC's first win track😊

About Dreamcatcher I'll definitely have to agree with Maison because it was pretty meh, especially for kicking off the Apocalypse Trilogy (?), Vision and Bon Voyage, especially the latter have definitely done it for me though. Still can't get over the guitars in Vision and the way Bon Voyage's choruses hit. Still stuff like this depends on what people enjoy. BEcause is really up there on my list for just how well it utilizes their sound and abilities, with the unique concept.

At first listen however, if you don't get what they're trying to do or are just new in general it sounds pretty cocky is all I guess. I'd honestly pick it over Maison any day.
If that rock version was the official one for “Pretty Savage”, I’d 100% agree with you! But since it’s not… It’s actually my least favorite song by BP. Not only was I not impressed by the usual empty chorus structure, but I just hated the stem that they used. It has a similar quality to the one in Kep1er’s “We Fresh” where it just feels like the sound is grating against my eardrums. I remember hearing the rock version for the first time and thinking “WE COULD HAVE HAD THIIIS???” I won’r forgive YGE for depriving us like that lol

Kep1er has good songs tho. It's just that their good songs are usually bsides that no one has the time to even bother listen to ( eg. back to the city + other good songs I can recommend from many genres too ).
Up! is the only unanimously loved title track (by the fandom itself). At this point, we stan for the talented girls & their bsides.
Also, they mainly criticized the music quality not the girls vocal skills. They are decent enough as *some* 4th gen groups in terms of vocal skills which overall is a generation focused on performance anyway.

On voit que tu as une véritable sensibilité musicale, ça m'a passionnée de te lire ! Je suis même d'accord avec la plupart de tes choix, SAUF un !
Je trouve que Maison est très très très loin d'être mauvaise (et je ne dis pas ça parce que le titre est français ;) Les riffs de guitares sont percutants et dynamiques, l'écriture est intense et sûre d'elle, la mélodie est tranchante et rythmée. La chanson gagne en intensité tout le long et évolue de façon naturelle. Avec Maison, Dreamcatcher élargie ses horizons en ajoutant une touche de funk qui rend la chanson plus décontracté et unique. Je pense sincèrement que c'est une des meilleures title track du groupe. Le message et les paroles n'ont aucune importance face à une production aussi qualitative ! Quitte à choisir la pire chanson de Dreamcatcher, j'opterais pour une de leurs ballades inutiles et bien souvent fades qui concluent chacun de leur album avec un fan service évitable. Maison est objectivement bien meilleure qui toutes ces chansons fatiguée et sans créativité.

I have to say I disagree- as an avid listener of everything Dreamcatcher and an autistic person who has a restricted interest in Dreamcatcher, Maison tried really hard to cash in on what was popular at the time (Tomboy, Good Boy Gone Bad) and ultimately fell flat- the lyrics were borderline Soyeons TikTok rap bad at points, specifically in the chorus and it gets rather unlistenable after a few gos. However, love the instrumental, to be honest, save for the very end of the song. Also the whole NFT song and blatant political messaging meant that even for me, a anarcho-communist I was pretty much out after the first few listens haha
I guess my real issue is with your ballad comment, as while some of their ballads are yes, fan service-y (Dear, Always, etc) songs like for instance A Heart of Sunflower (which is about loving someone who will never love you back and knowing that they won’t but still trying to get them to) or Trust Me, which is a heartwrenching ballad about literally not being okay (the climax of the song is “Just being happy is all I really want”)- have different meanings and aren’t fan service, and even if they were… it doesn’t make them bad songs, but I can see your reasoning why you wouldn’t like ballads, I just like hearing their vocals get another chance to shine, I think.
Personally, for Dreamcatchers worst song, even though I bashed Maison, I’d really have to say Curse of the Spider as I can’t even get though the first 10 seconds.

Or current peak to talk about these issues like they haven’t been an issue, and it feels a bit cash grabby to be only talking about it now. I’m a casual fan of idle but hearing Miyeon did a diet sponsor doesn’t surprise me, it just disappoints me that they’re not practicing what they preach, but you also have to remember these groups are here to make money not to enact social change, and therefore any time they try it won’t come off right, no matter how earnest because it’s a cash grab at the end of the day no matter what.
A song that kind of does it but isn’t known for being a “enact social change” would be boca for me, if only because we know the messaging but it wasn’t directly telling us to save the fucking jungle or telling us that we don’t need to be pretty while also being about being pretty and knowing one of them advertised a diet thing.
I guess, tl;dr it has to go back to the fact companies really only do this “social change” when it’s profitable and they think just marketing it as such will make it good, and that’s where it ends up coming off really insincere :3

Listen, I love (G)I-dle, but for the love of god, either she gets some lessons in english pronounciation, or she stops singing/rapping in english all together. Whenever they have a comeback, I just pray that there is no english parts from her. She speaks english as if it was like french. She removes the ending of half of the words for some reason.
