  • In this video I put this flashlight to the test. It is a very bright and durable light. The power bank capacity is not exactly as advertised but it would work in an emergency.
    I paid $29.99+tax in June of 2023.

    I appreciate the thorough test after having picked up some really shoddy lights from Costco in the past. I grabbed one on impulse to test as a replacement for a 20+ year old emergency light in the car. Based on your testing, I'll probably go grab another to put in the emergency bag.

    I saw this flashlight shopping at Costco today and looked up your post when searching for extra lithium ion batteries. The only reason why I still use my Maglite with lithium ion batteries is because I can wrap the on/off button with a bicycle inner tube to protect it from aircraft chemicals like Skydrol hydraulic fluid. I have others and just purchased this one from Costco for work I want to protect the switch from aircraft chemicals but not sure how to construct a cover without covering the charging port. Most likely I’ll use it during my walk around and not when replacing exterior components except for the lights. Thanks for this info.

      I’m using the useful bicycle inner tube to cover the light switch and the charge port. I also cut 3 1” strips of inner tube to wrap the grip. This way I can still use my Maglite holster and it isn’t slippery. I also removed the lanyard. Thanks for this information

    I was just given one of these lights, and as it is summer its not gonna be dark here in Iceland for few months, so I came to see how it does in darkness outside.. If I was just handed this flashlight and didnt look at anything, I would guess it costs double the amount it does (currently 30pounds uk) the build quality is excellent, its not to wide so it's very nice to hold, has usb-c port for charging and usb-a to act as a powerbank (6000mah will top of most phones, so even at 50% charge the powerbank will still deliver more than 50% battery for most phones) , the beam focus is also pretty good, so in my opinion this thing is a steal for 30pounds!

    Could you pleas add / comment on the testing equipment you used? Two things that caught my eye were a device that you plugged into the USB to check for output & the 'timer looking' device that appears to have been measuring light output or maybe it was just a timer. Thanks and nice review!

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  Před 6 měsíci

      The usb tester is a "HiLetgo LCD USB Current Voltage Doctor Charger Capacity Tester Meter Power Bank", it works fine but I'd opt for a fancier one next time with a color display. I don't have a light meter, that was just a timer.

    Costco is a good place to go to buy bulk items, I would stay away from electronics tho. the flashlight is cheap and ok I guess if you are on a budget and only looking for a quick light. Im curious on how you measured the lumen output, also the battery pack is what looks like either three 18650's or 21700 batteries hard to tell from the video.the trees you shined on at 25' you said? were not lit up that well. maybe you could do a review on some Nitecore, Fenix, Acebeam flashlights. myself I have Nitecore's.

  • @a.k.9425

    You guessed correct. Almost getting the flashlight free. Searching online shows. C Battery 1.5V Rechargeable Battery USB ( FUNKY BUILT IN C ON BATTERY ) Type-C Port C Cell 5000mAh High Capacity (4 Pack) $26.99
    No instruction papers inside. Take photos of the instructions on the box before recycling it.
    Rechargeable flashlight with normal battery backup option is a dream come true.
    What is the approximate charging time for the big blue battery?
    The limited 2-year warranty is better than nothing. I would prefer 3 or 4 years for this flashlight.
    Flashlights and batteries 48-50 years ago were pretty much useless. Low lumen or candle power. Plus the batteries would die fast.

    I have two of them and they must be defective as they both after running for a few minutes on high, will reduce the illumination output drastically. I ran both side by side and they both did the same thing. Not sure why that it, perhaps to conserve battery, but the lumens drop by a lot. Have yours done the same? Perhaps you can test it. With mine once you turn it off and back on, it goes back to high just to drop again in a couple minutes. Weird.

    Any parasitic drain on the battery in this model?

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  Před rokem

      That is a GREAT question. I've been using it too much to test that in practice over a long period. I just hooked up the multimeter in series between the negative on the battery and case and got 0.00mA draw. The switch is a "soft switch", ie: if you turn it on and unscrew the cap and screw it back on the light does not remain on. There must be some logic between to prevent the battery from damage, instead of the battery having that circuit. So, I imagine there must be some very very small draw. FWIW I charged it 2 weeks ago and it's still at four dots of battery.

    I like the flashlight but it is heavy with a generic light source and a fake zoom that cuts off edges of the flood light. It is very bright but my 2400 lumen light is brighter at a distance. If on sale it is a good deal for those who want a heavy tough flashlight with the possibility of using C cells in an emergency.

    Did not like the nerd/arrogant "what kind of person uses C batteries in 2023?" remark. Preppers! Guess you've never been in a big earthquake like here in California and had no power for days on end until the utility company gets into your area to restore power or
    in a hurricane/flood area. Or been in/near a big wildfire disaster like the Paradise Fire that killed 89 people NE of here near Chico. Or been in a Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii fire that just reached an 89 people dead count an hour ago after their deadly wildfire these last few days and survivors needing batteries for flashlights, cell phones, lighting, radios, personal medical devices like a glucose meter or helping to keep looking at night for survivors or remains hours on end in the hot ashes, burned out car/homes debris, or carcasses, or searching for lost children in the dark forest hours upon hours in your wooded area, or searching for big game down as the sun fades.
    I like having my Costco bought Feit Fashlight/Ontel Battery Daddy caddy for storing different sized quick/instant useable batteries for my/our/neighbors quick or emergency usage. Of course I could say who shots skeet in 2023? but, that would be arrogant. : (
    Thanks for all that Tesla like testing. Hope you've got an electric car in 2023 like all your neighbors? or do they use C batteries still?

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Lithium ion batteries can be recharged via solar or a hand crank dynamo. An alkaline battery cannot. Additionally, the lithium ion battery can be plugged into AC power indefinitely, ready for use, and alkaline batteries expire. I too am a "prepper" type person, and would not use alkalines... Maybe NiMH though... Everyone has their own likes and dislikes with technology and I respect that. I could have expanded on the "who uses c batteries" thing for sure and I thank you for your comment.
