My nephew had a traumatic brain injury and was on life support the doctors told my family to turn off the machine which they were opposed to
Today he is a healthy young man with not one problem

Good for him and your family. But brain injuries are case by case and individual by individual and severity can range so your nephew coming out ok is clearly not her son. And the only reason they to get ppl off ventilators when ppl have serious brain injuries because most times the prognosis is not good and they want to save the patient and family a fate like Jeffery. Brain cells do not regenerate or come back to life when damaged unfortunately.

This is true for good Mothers & Fathers.. Please know that not all parents love their children, I know because I was born to an abusive parent who hurt my soul.

The insurance companies are the biggest liers in the world. Keep fighting for your family members whom is in a medical situation. Never give up.
so is there re hab centers and rehab homes the worse they are the more money they make. including pharmacuticals.
I have a relative whose job it is to deny claims for BC/BS of Texas. I’m always disgusted with her job but this makes me even more appalled. She tried to get me into the line of work when I was 18 and didn’t know better. Praise the lord that didn’t happen. Why do we all pay so much money for healthcare if they don’t care about life
insurance is a complete scam. the main goal is that they screw us over and make money. so freaking immoral
The hospital wants you to pull the plug the insurance company find a way to deny your claim welcome to democracy
So I clicked on life after fent title. So far I'm hearing a recitation of advance directive code and railing against ins companies. You obviously will n he is out of the hospital is he happy? Is he going to ever be independent? Is he suffering mentally emotionally physically? If he seems happy I'd say good call. You got a long haul of taking care of him. After you die who's caring for him? I'm not being rude or mean I have seen this call a few times close up and you just never ever can know!!
She sounds very knowledgeable and she trusted herself in supporting her son. Also, kids if you chose drugs, think about who you will be hurting besides yourself. Shes a warrior mom. Accept nothing but what you know your kids deserve. Nobody will fight harder than a mother who loves her child.
Yes, she is a Hero Mom, and my brother is sick right now as I write this and he also can't speak for himself, and my mom has conservatorship of my brother, she is ill, and she shouldn't be taking care of him anymore, pray that my brother gets better, and she takes my brother to the doctors. And at this point if my brother gets worse it's going to be her fault! When parents get Parkinsons they shouldn't be taking care of their severely mentally disabled adult children, anymore nor should they have conservatorship. Im angry my mother isn't doing anything for my brother that she should be doing, most would say that she shouldn't be his caretaker anymore. I need to know how to help my brother!
@@CreativeOne-ll8etI just watched this video and it breaks my heart for her. She obviously cares for her son, that she would do anything to help him. I am really disgusted with Blue across Blue Shield, and I feel like they already know that they are going to deny her appeal. I would suggest you keep on sharing your story about Jeffrey, he is a beautiful person and you should never have to worry about the financial part of his rehabilitation. I don’t know if you have a gofundme, but if you don’t I would definitely set one up. Your mom is a little firecracker and if she puts the energy into raising funds for his healthcare, I’m sure many people would donate…..😊

I know he is fighting but also you have to remember it is the quality of his life mom not you as a mother with a baby that has a cold… this is serious stuff When you choose drugs you choose death especially fentanyl and bc bs doesn’t care what the mother wants it’s called your problem not theirs …. I agree!!! I'm going to show this to my supervisor at the transition home I work for. We deal with women coming off alcohol and drugs, and just last month we lost one of our graduates to a fentanyl overdose. It broke our hearts, and we don't want anyone else to go through this!!!

After dealing with the insurance company during my mom's brain surgeries , I learned they are the biggest scams . They do not care about life, it's all about the money. The love of money is the root to all evil. I am so sorry you are going through this. I will keep all of you in my prayers. ❤

I take care of my brother who was 16 in a accident and basically was told to take him off life support and let him die and my Mother refused to do that so he was let go from rehab and my Mother since then has been his caregiver, mother and nurse. He is walking, talking and trying to do what he can by his self and then we lost my Mom in 2019 and my brother was then given to me to take care of, and a promise to my Mom that I would take care of him. I quit my job and moved into his home where my mom and brother lived and have spent the last 4 years including through Covid taking care of him. I think if they would allow him to get more Rehab and Physical Therapy he would be farther along. He lost 74% of his brain and was thought to be Brain Dead. We do lots of stuff and I teach him New words. My prayers for you and Jefferey. We live literally with the Court deciding what we can do and live poor. I’m alone and it’s hard sometimes and also rewarding. Thank you for sharing your story! 🥰

My son overdosed on heroin, suffered brain anoxia, lost his short term memory, was in ICU and doctors worked hard to 'bring him back' he is working hard at his recovery, its a struggle but thank God he has medical aid fund, without that he would have surely died in our state hospitals. My middle aged son was without a heartbeat for 25 minutes due to Fentanyl and he was resuscitated, he had severe brain damage from anoxia. When the nurses would touch him he would shake and tremor. They told me at times his arms would flail and they would have to restrain him. 😢He was on life support for 11 days, he was an organ donor, and then they let him go after everything was arranged. It was a very hard decision to make. The doctors said he couldn't see, hear, or think and I couldn't keep him alive like that. Best of luck to you and your son.

I totally relate. Our daughter was brain damaged in a road accident, and in our darkest hours, we had to find the strength to fight against our insurer when they should have been supporting us. Some health insurers are broken. Their processes are designed to break you, so you give up and go away. Totally inhuman

It depends on the amount of brain damage your daughter suffered.
As a Nurse I’ve watched many patients family members unable and unwilling to let go.
If it were me I’d want to be let go.
This is no way to live.
If I was total care l would be suffering unbearably. Sometimes death is preferable to the misery.

Unfortunately it would be the case in most countries. Countries with an NHS would have pulled the plug a long time ago and you wouldn’t get a say. It’s terrible anywhere you go.

So how long is insurance supposed to pay out. If a hospital is not being paid who pays fo the doctors. Are they supposed to work free and not support their families. Look at all the hospitals around the country who closed their doors because it wasn't making enough to pay the bills and staff. Now america has over 8 million people in the past 3 1/2 years who are now here flooding hospitals.
I went to the emergency room and was told there was over a 6 hour wait because doctors are quitting and starting private practice where they can get paid and feed their families. I paid into the system for 41 years. Now I'm on ssi. There are things
Insurance won't pay for and doctors won't treat me for free but I understand why.
Everyone has the right to get paid. Yes doctors make good money but went to school for many years and are probably paying 10 years or more for their education. You cant expect health care workers to work free..

For you to notice regression is so impressive. I cried so many times watching him because I see the progress! I would NEVER give up on him! He has so much potential.
I watch this channel all the time. This is one of the most moving stories I have seen yet. I also think this one hits home for me, personally, because of what I do for a living. Insurance companies suck. You pay exorbitant fees to have insurance and they deny care your personal provider deems necessary. They are practicing medicine without a license. It's disgusting.

I don't know this family but the level of respect I have for them is enormous. I'm extremely proud of Jeffery for his extreme determination to get better. This touched my heart more than I could ever describe. My mother and I are extremely close. She brought me back from the brink of death due to a terrible addiction to prescription pain meds. When a mother cares this much anything is possible.

When I broke my leg in Canada. United Health care would not pay the hospital bills because it happened out of the US, even though an emergency out of the country is covered. We called from the hospital and they said I was covered. They lied. We will never have universal health care, because the insurance companies would lose too much money

I understand that this brave mom fights for his son, and how hospitals and even the law is against them.
But I couldn't live like this.
I told my parents a few times that if something happens to me and my brain, just let me go.
Not to mention that what would happen to me after my parents die? Who would take care of me?

This Mom is absolutely amazing. She has complete knowledge and understanding of healthcare and medical conditions. She certainly does sound like a nurse herself.
What an amazing human this mother is! She is SPOT ON about BCBS and every other insurance company. I needed life-saving meds in 2020 after 2 collapsed lungs and the continued to deny it for months. I see that Jeffrey crossed over to heaven on 3/6/24. God bless this family and comfort them during this unfathomable time.

As a mother and a nurse who has 15 years experience working with patients like Jeffrey, I feel sorry that this mom doesn't understand both sides of this story. I understand how she feels, I'd want nothing but the best for my child. That being said, I'm not sure see sees the end game of her son's condition. He might be every bit of the miracle she believes him to be, but even if he had all of that therapy, etc he won't be independent. He will need extensive care for the rest of his life. Realistically, as soon as something happens to his mom, he'd be in that nursing home because who else cares for adults with that level of need? I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong, it's just frustrating to see her so heartbroken with a genuine lack of understanding.

I agree with you 100%. She doesn’t understand what lies ahead. A whole bunch more mountain of problems. I understand the love of her son, but If you are not in healthcare, you cannot really understand the big picture
That's what I was thinking the whole time... sometimes with life quality is worth more than quantity. As a mom, you just want your child to be alive, but if you'd asked Jeffrey, I'd bet he probably would not have wanted to live like this and would have opted to just be in peace.
Why do I also see the other side, so many who need insurance who are genuinely sick but in this case his medical condition was from taking a street drug. Should the insurance company responsible for this?
@flowergarden1426 I don't agree insurance coverage should be denied based on lifestyle, otherwise obese people, smokers etc would receive no health care. In Jeff's case, I fully agree with the insurance company in denying further agressive treatment, Jeff's severe brain damage is permanent and he had very little, if any, quality of life.

this mom loves her son. I was thinking if Jeffrey is happy to be here. Sometimes (not saying this is the case here) family members will do anything to keep a loved one alive regardless. If Jeffrey is happy than I'm happy for him. But to me that's all it comes down to: we need to think about quality of life and sometimes letting someone go can be the ultimate act of love.

Insurance companies can budget massive funds for lobbyists, but not saving lives. This mirrors in many ways what happened to a relative of mine whose medical horror started with gall bladder surgery that escalated to pancreatitis.

As a RN, I have been on ethics committees in Texas, and why this is recommended is because of cost, yes, however it comes down to what quality of life does he have now? If you listen to her, he has no quality of life. He can’t eat, he has to be fed through a tube in his stomach that keeps getting infected. Unfortunately this is a viscous cycle that will keep happening, and infections will creep up everywhere no matter how careful you are.
It sounds heartless but we do have the patients best interests at heart.

The QUALITY OF LIFE ! … this is just another excuse to MURDER protected by law. By the way - Jeffrey has never had an INFECTION on his feeding tube, so to start you assumed wrong.
- Also Quality of life !?!? Let’s talk about quality of life … # 1 it cannot be determined by society - GOD SAVE US ! … I can list a bunch of people that can move, talk and normally eats, BUT … that they are profitable to Society ?!? ha!, in fact they are a LOST - a liability and for a fact have ZERO quality of life… instead let me tell you what people like Jeffrey generates, EMPATHY, SERVICE, COMPASSION, LOVE, MERCY, COMMUNITY, SENSE OF COMMITMENT AND RESPONSIBILITY as a WHOLE. He brings HUMANITY to HUMANITY!
He is a living thermometer of our HEARTS. By the way Jeffrey is HAPPY, and hugs me and kiss me so strong when he listen all these stuff and knows that he is alive because of me. He has FAITH also in God and he is GRATEFUL… to top it up - JEFFREY IS IMPROVING and will keep improving until he is 100% HEALED ! … then we will have a full movie of his story to HELP and INSPIRE OTHERS.

INSURANCE SHOULDN'T BE A THING IN THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD! You are amazing. It's so true about hospital. My husband is in ICU right now. They tried to release him quickly but he crashed and all we hear now is cutting him off without even a brain scan. My heart breaks for you and anyone else going through this.

Honey I wish I was still single! I would come and help you with Jeffrey! I had to move to Michigan after a brain injury and 2 years of seizures. I said when I got better I wanted to work with brain injured people just to know what they are going through. It's the worst injury to have because you can't explain it to anyone. I'm now married but I went for 7 years alone. People just don't understand it and my family just doesn't really know my personality now.
I am so sorry, but happy to heard that you have moved forward and even though still mountains to climb . You are doing much better than before.

That is every health insurance company, sadly. It is unacceptable. I am not sure how we would change this system though.

This mother needs to be honest with herself and ask herself if her Jeffrey ( the one before all of this happened) if she thinks he would have wanted to live the rest of his life drooling in a wheelchair, barely understanding what's going on around him ? Or is she being selfish by keeping him alive ? No ONE would want to live like that, NO ONE.... This is a very sad situation, but she needs to ask herself, if SHE would wantvto live like this... so don't do this to the son you obviously love with all her heart, let him be and go in peace...
No one would choose to live like that, but most would choose to live ... if there's hope, and there is hope. Jeffrey is improving. Organs that doctors said would not work again, such as his kidneys, are now fully funtional again and are working fine. He communicates, he speaks, he sings, he smiles. Despite negligence in medical care, he continues to improve, continues to achieve.

I work in the medical field and see how evil these insurance corporations treat patients. This woman is a real definition for a true loyal Mother.
