In the US, boys are circumsized cause "its cleaner" or "it looks better" yet there is no chant about his body his choice. If we want to talk about double standards, we also have to be willing to take down the ones that hurt men or benifit women.

Double standards are wrong no question. Now I think about it she had a point a guy can get someone pregnant and leave. Creating a continuous cycle of this for generations to come. Why do we not try to prevent this as much as a girl getting pregnant. Honestly seems like the double standard has a big role to play, guys have always been told you got a way out, and its her baby so they take it. Putting more responsibility on these guys more solve a lot.

My mom raised me with stricter rules than my brothers. At a young age I thought it was unfair but as I have gotten older I understood where she was coming from. When we "have the talk" it should be given to boys as well as girls. The conversation starts at home. Parents should teach girls and boys to not only respect there body but others as well. All we can do is teach them and pray they carry those teachings as they get older. This world is not easy and can be very judgmental and at times unfair. I read where people said dont put religion in it..maybe if we put Jesus in all that we do this world would be a better place! To love one another, respect one another, understand without passing judgment, and teach each other that just cause he's a boy or she's a girl the rules apply to both! We can't teach equality and not show what that means! Have a bless day 🙏 💖

Blackish can only get away with this message because Bow and Dre are being hypocrites. And I expect this of Dre but I don't think Bow would be so hyped about her son kissing someone. But there are lots of families that hold their sons to the same standard as their daughters, and I *thought* Bow was that kind of parent.
And now that I think about it, didn't they do this exact same plotline a while ago with Junior and Zoey? Didn't Dre and Bow learn there lesson then? They even used the exact same "boys will be boys" line then and it feels just as non-subtle then as it does now.

And from the corner of where I was I hear my cousin(older than me) and a few of my tias along with my mom talking. I heard something along the lines of "Well at least she's not pregnant!!🤣🤣🤣" they were all laughing while I held back my tears. Because I knew they would say stuff behind my back if I was pregnant. When her older brother was about to go into high school her dad told him to be careful and gave him some condoms and not to be afraid to ask him for more. But when she was about to go into high school both her parents told her she better not think about having sex because if she got pregnant she’d need to find some where else to live.
I was always confused by this and how if a guy has a lots of girl friends and sex he’s a player/stud. But if a girl has a lot of boyfriends or even hinted to have sex she’s a slut.

They never have the ability to ignore the consequences and thus far none of them *knock on wood* have ever done anything risky. He put pressure on us girls too but an equal amount on the boys too i think. Too many parents want to baby boys and shield them from the consequences because they think its fine if the girls life is the only one disrupted.
