When I saw the word "eerie", I thought "well, eerie might be saying too much". But it really is. WOW!! is right. This is a great video and really shows what happened. No one or thing could have stopped that fire except maybe a 24 hour cloudburst, and that wasn't happening. Thank goodness for the bit of rain we've had in the last few weeks. It is going to get dry and windy over the next few days, so the dampness will really help us out there. But I don't know what would be left to burn at this point anyway. Thank you Chad Surmick and The Press Democrat!

CAMERAS like those proposed by the county, could have help contain the initial fire when it started, and at least raised the alarm.

At 40 seconds, I can see what was our house. It is amazing to think that this was only a year ago. Nobody who lost their house in the fire will ever be the same. We are all trying to deal with the aftermath.

I lived on Paxton Place, Rincon ridge area. A year later and I still haven’t completely settled down. World was flipped on its head that terribly windy night.

i'm reminded of a quote by the Jungian Episcopal priest, John Sanford. "Tamper with Mother Nature at your own risk.... She always wins."

That has literally happened at every single extreme wind driven fire in California fire history…..starting with the 1923 Berkeley Fire.

Some trees in the area have evolved to be fire resistant. Also trees can grow in the course of a year.

What's weird I was told about the wind half an hour before it got goin .And in Monte Rio there was no wind at all... That's freaking weird.
