Thanks for the excellent content, lads. I've loved your recent videos even more than those that came before, I don't know what it is, but keep doing it!
I've been going to Costa Rica for the past 40 some years. If you ask for a "whiskey" there, you get Johnnie Walker Red. On returning home, I always hit the Duty Free to bring back a few bottles. I've had Red, Black, Double Black, Green, Gold and Blue over the years and Gold was always my favorite and never lasted all that long. Glad you could try it.
It really is a nice whisky. I'm happy to see you guys didn't bash it just because it's owned by diageo. I love single malts, but there are some days where a good blend is all you need.
you all probably dont give a damn but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
Johnnie Gold Centenary was one of the first whiskies I saw they recommended putting in the freezer and I actually loved it. It would thicken up and I would serve it like a liqueur for an after dinner drink or something for the porch on a hot day. Simple melon and honey with a bit of earth still but the texture that it gained from the freezer made it a great sipper.
Just picked up a bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve today and i am so happy to have it in my home, last time a bought a bottle was a couple years ago, but should i drink this as it is or add a drop of cold water?
The old Gold 18 and Green 15 are probably the two best blends Johhnie has made.. I had to call liquor stores all over the country to track down a bottle of this in LA. Not cheap!
I have a bottle of JW gold label "the centenary blend" aged 18 years 40% vol... I bought it in 2000. Unopened still in box, stored cool/dry. Was saving it for a special occasion [buffalo bills winning the super bowl] but curious what it might be worth in open market?
@@asand991 now that they’ve re-released the Gold 18-year, probably not a whole lot. Had you sold it a couple years ago, they were going for $150-200 a bottle.
It is all butterscotch and vanilla. It’s so good. Johnnie Walker is so damn good. That’s why it gets views, Rex. My only grip with them is the percentage. Always 40. I hope one day you get your hands on the Explorers club Collection. I pay 55 for the gold reserve so your getting gauged boys. Bring back the bag pipe intro.
Green Label is a blended malt, built upon a base of Talisker, Caol Ila, Cragganmore, and Linkwood. Gold Label is a blend (includes grain), built upon a base of Clynelish. Black and Double Black are also blends. Green is also bottled at 43% instead of 40%. I also thoroughly enjoyed the bottle of Island Green that I grabbed from a duty free shop.
green and island green are my fav from the jw range. a local liquor chain scored some island green and sold it in-store, though the first time i came across and bought it was indeed at a duty free store. enjoy!
I consider this and the new Platinum label to be a good cheaper substitute for blue label. Not as good but at only 50% the price of blue its definitely a steal.
Freezer Jeans sounds like a nice cool off method to me if nothing else. If you know it's damn hot outside, but you also know you've got a crisp pair of jeans in the freezer to wear outside... win/win says I. I also tend to enjoy ice in my whiskey too, I always have my first sip right after the pour to get the real solid taste of it but for whatever weird reason I don't like drinking room temp liquids, never have. I also see the possibility of Whiskey Tribe Jeans being a thing soon... maybe with Single Mom plastered on the front of them just to confuse the hell out of people, and of course mom jean material. ;)
i thought reserve basically meant (not legally) that it was picked from barrels that at first where not good enough for the first batch "a" so they were used for the reserve batch or batch "b"
I also agree, although I haven’t tried the blue label(I wish to do very soon) but I own all the other jw’s except the red. Green is the best in my opinion and for the price point, I’m sure will top the blue
Please do a show on traditional whiskeys for military. My dad, (Vietnam US Army Special Forces), was a Bourbon man and belittled Scotch which my step mom preferred (Post Vietnam US Army Military Intelligence). My brother was SF also & bourbon drinker. As a USMC Grunt they may of mis-lead me on bourbon as the liquid of choice. My family hails from Hazard County, Kentucky so more than a few moon shiners and lovers of bourbon. As for the USMC, rum was traditional. The traditional drink depends on Nation & Branch while specialty can also influence. My father in law was a conscript of the Korean Army during that conflict, but I cannot recall the traditional drink, but it had a kick to it.
been waiting to crack a few JW's...….. have Ghost and Rare Port Ellen and Brora + Blue label from the late eighties in the nice smooth rounded bottle!! i want to crack'em all at once.
I also got the rare port ellen, late last year. opened one of the two i got. its good - but nowhere near the price. but then again i've learnt over the years that price point does not really match quality. and is subjective to what different people like. i've visited the bottle twice. hope it gets better.
Robin hope your whisky into Johnny walker is complete.being just a poor peasant and the luck of the Irish Johnny walker White label is superior to all fir the money and then Geen label, gold, black and red. They give a average guy and great option, since my first shot of smokey scotch was terrible 3 weeks later I craved all smike and I'm not a smoker. But whiskey vault snobs help me pick other scotches and bourbons to try. But old. School Johnny is a old stand by to remember the good old times. Before Communist take over the world. Whats your best drunk now??? Johnny Blue is told to be a let down of smooth and no flavor notes. So just put it in coke I guess. Tomatin is very nice unless you can afford 36 year old scotch at 1000$ a bottle better than any blue Johnny....Good Day Sir.
It's my understanding that the Gold became Platinum, and has now been replaced with simply Johnnie Walker 18. Green Label is my favorite as well, and I buy it here in the Philippines for only $40 (700ml). A 1L bottle of Black Label is the big bargain here at only $20. USA taxes suck and I might never come back :-)
The tightening, especially in the legs huh,,, as opposed to what Rex, me personally, I enjoy the free feeling in the arms I get from washing my pants on the week.... 👌
I’ve learned so much since I started watching this channel and I continue to learn more and I do love that pretty much everyone in the tribe are friendly and it’s good to be a magnificent bastard. I love your videos cheers everyone time to have me a proper twelve whiskey and Coke
i wonder if JW has seen a sales decline since the tribe was started or maybe an increase. i would assume decline since after the first time buyer tries other whisky the tribe has reviewed they realize JW is bottom shelf compared to most other scotch. but i know if sales has declined it could almost be non noticeable because of commercial buyers
First comment here.. you magnificent bastards.. shout out from Africa,Kenya.. on your next post toast and say Moto sana (its Swahili for "really good or really hot " -loosely translated) preferably a green label.. cheers!
I've been lucky enough to find about 6 bottles at an old liquor store for $70 us dollars. Great blended whisky YET I'll still go for the JW Green. Thanks guys!

You should not wash Jeans for at least 30 wears after you buy them. Real denim should be hand washed in the bath tub when the time comes. This will make the jeans last must longer, keep the dye longer, and create a patina that’s unlike to your body and lifestyle

Johnny Walker moved the 18 yo age statement to the Platinum. You should do a side by side of the 18's when you get back from Ireland.

This was my intro to Scotch, I kind of expected to see this on a Rare Whiskey Friday because you can't find it anymore.
I spy some Bearface Canadian Whiskey on that back shelf! Can't wait for you guys to review that, it's my new favourite Canadian spirit.
Holy crap I just bought a bottle of bear face the other day....it is indeed my new favourite Canadian whiskey.
Great now I gotta crack open my centenary and reserve.... Thanks a lot guys. Personally I find Johnnie Black to be my go to of the Johnnies

Daniel I pose to you a very serious question! Would you eat the eclair if it was above the rim?
Used to be the best allround blended whisky. Period. Miss it so much😢
How do you guys clean /care for the Glencairn glasses? Is it true your not supposed to use soap at all?
I literally just had a sample of this. Not bad! You're right, this would have been much better at a high ABV.

So close to 200k subs!
Frozen jeans sounds like a Whiskey Tribe Episode that NEEDS to happen. What Whiskey goes best with a fresh out of the freezer pair of Levis' lol

Yes, this particular blend belongs in the freezer and to be sipped with a single ice cube. Delicious.
How much do you have to spend on JW before they put a cork in the bottle?
