I love how when Novikov speaks, everyone around goes completely quiet and pays full attention. Dude commands maximum respect.
That and broken english sometimes requires maximum attention. 😜 Novikov is a beast though.
@Jagknorr that definitely helps add to it yeah XD

Mitch just casually doing 2,5 world records in a comp🤯
The amount of world records in the comp is a world record in itself.
Then winning while making a WR is another WR.
So he had 4 new worlds records and 1 WR match

@Big Loz Official can we get a video one day about the impact both negative and positive of social media on specifically the performance of the athletes? The bit about Tom being worried about upsetting people with such trivial things makes me want to know more.

Meet & greet afterwards was a wee bit too busy and for some reason I felt a bit guilty about grilling the athletes after the show, so I went home, but not before having a lovely chat with Neil who was super nice!

A real shame for Evan. Well done Mitch👑🦀Hooper Not one but Two W.R. plus = a third. Great to get the Axel after missing it the first time. It looked as if there was more in the tank.
Tom did better than in the past. Pavlo took advantage of Evan being out of the comp but still had to dig deep after the deadlift. Another W.R.!!
Andrew Flyn looked as if he was having a great time. Pleased to him so happy.
A good comp. Very good livestream.

This was an amazing show. And 4 records on 4 events is insane. And always awesome seeing your behind the scenes stuff. Just all the stuff that I won't say in-case anyone just clicks on here before realising they should go watch it on Giant's Live first.
And as others are saying, Strongest Man on Earth is going to be ridiculous! So, so hope that everyone's in good shape there... Mitch, Tom, Haftor, Evan, Rauno.

Being able to get a proper front rack is a big advantage in the axle press. Otherwise the shoulders absorb the power from the legs.
Btw thanks a ton for recording this and bringing this to us strongman fans live, much appreciated (across the fitness community, i already know how most viewers aren't subscribers haha)
the music at the end makes me goosebumps
It was hard watching Gav. Not sure what's going on with him but the last few comps he just doesn't look in it anymore. Any insight of it's mental or physical?
I think it's both tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if he's considering hanging it up. He's had an up n down career for sure.
He's almost 36 years old. That's what's going on with him.
that guy at the start of the video was so incredibly smart and handsome

Great competition. No doubt, Mitch was in overdrive. What a athlete. Ill have to find the individual event placing. Congratulations to Big Loz. And all the top 3.
There should be implement records and world records.
World records should be standardized equipment (12 log, minimum length etc., 2.5" axle with fixed weights that are a minimum diameter...)
The fastest run on giants live stones of a specific weight should be referred to as a competition or implement record. World record for atlas stones should be a max stone over a defined height.
Loz and Shaw should be the authority to write the standards.
Iphone working well! Always bring a back up.

Say what you will about point controversy, but Mitch is comfortably the best in the world currently. His strength doesn’t make sense, I believe the only person that can challenge Mitch is a fully peaked hafthor.
Tom can as well with the right events and peaking. Hooper is just never really switched off it’s nuts
Big tom one motioning every stone after a back dominant competition just wow
For such a stacked line up I thought it didn't live up to the hype this show. Mitch looked in A1 condition but some of the other guys weren't at their best. Tom didn't look at his best, Novikov and Gav underperformed. Evan seemed a bit off (I wonder if he knew he was carrying a slight injury coming into this show hoping it wouldn't worsen). He didn't seem his happy usual self at all.
The newer guys were great to see and it was awesome to see Pavlo get 3rd place, he's improving year on year. We were missing some of the US guys like Trey Mitchell. All eyes on the SMOE now, could be a hell of show and that really does have the best lineup of the year.
I think I’ve started to get less hyped about lineups after so many let down shows. This was honestly a great comp overall, but not the battle we kinda hoped for
Liz seems to get better looking with each video. Loz is a lucky guy.

I raced back to the Highlands from Glasgow and didnt miss one second of this amazing event, I am not on any social media so can anyone shed any light on Big Gav, I was worried about him on the night and is he OK.
15:37 I love seeing Loz with a last bit of advice/motivation
Damn didnt realize Evan shoulder and Lat flexibility was so tight
Hooper is on another level. How many straight podiums is he up to?
17! He’s podiumed at every show since WSM 2022
I missed the comp, but did Hooper purposely not do well on the stone since he was guaranteed a win?
Yes, he was more than 10 points ahead of Tom
He said it was a very bicep heavy event and didn't want to risk injuring a bicep on the stones if he didn't have to
Full 12 points ahead going into it. As long as he loaded 1 stone he wins so no need to push to hard so close to SMOE
It's awesome that Loz got to hand Mitch his trophy.

what happened to Evan?
Injured
Unfortunately he picked up an injury in the first event in his leg
despite Hoopers pull-off of the event i feel that 4:02 represented prefectly each persons positon in strongman, give tom a few weeks and he'll be hitting #1 again no prob (aside from maybe OHP lol, thats obviously hoopers specailty)
Mitch is the new Brian shaw
Do you think that WSM and Giants Live will change the rules on the axle press to just press or get it up want ever way you can Obviously they have allowed the split press slip into this event. ?
I highly doubt they'll change the rules. Jerking has been allowed at the pro level since the sport began and has been utilised by many athletes over the years, including the likes of Jon Pall Sigmarsson, Raimonds Bergmanis, Mikhail Koklyaev, Oleksii and Pavlo, Rob Kearney, etc.
No such thing as a good iPhone Loz 😂
No Iron Biby after all?
Home taking Care of sick family member
🙂
Not really the biggest fan of the split press for strongman. I feel like it was overall a more impressive feat of strength the way Big Z did it. Don't get me wrong it's still crazy impressive but it cheapens the lift. It's the Sumo of deadlift
Well done everyone but see Tom showing y he is king of the stones by 1 moshing all 5 stones
Is novikov still injured? He has not done well last year or so
😊
If Dan is relaxed then Tom is too.
Mitch will win WSM again. Again. And again 😎
What's up with Gav lately? His last like 4-5 comps have been shocking.
They should adjust the height of the atlas stones based on the height of the contestant.
Who needs a camera!!
Do you think big Gav is going to be able to come back into being competitive
What happened to Evan?
hooper is the definition of built different ,his intensity and attitude puts more naturally gifted strongmen to shame he is literally superhuman ....if tom had mitchs mindset he would be 10x wsm
I think this is the true list. Correct me if im wrong loz or liz
World record logpress
World record axle dead
World record wrecking ball
World record first man to make a WR and win comp
World record for most world records in 1 comp
World record for first man to make 2 WRs and win a comp
World record for first man to make 3 WRs and win a comp
Or is the WR and win only applicable to giants live?
Big Z, Brian, and Hafthor have all picked up WRs and then won the comp I hear.
Something seems off with Evan?
He doesn't like Loz and Liz because of some constructive criticism they've said about him in their videos.
Shame the Scotsman lost, from England.
Second place is not a loss
@@MC-ep8cu It's not a win!
I really hope Brian has the cahonies to only allow push press in overhead pressing events at SMOE. Clean and Jerk is very technique based and not a true representation of static strength. Lasha Talakhadze has the WR on Clean and Jerk with 267kg (albeit with a barbell not an axle). Eddie Halls 216kg axle press WR at Giants Live 2017 was a far more impressive display of static strength, he didn't even push press with his legs, it was a 216kg strict press! I think it's doing a disservice taking records from people using technique/momentum rather than statically lifting it up against gravity. It's still an impressive lift and I'm happy for Mitch for having a great show, but I've been a fan of strongman since the 80's and I watch it for the incredible feats of static strength. I'm not a big fan of some of the medleys either because cardio plays a big role. If I wanna see cardio I'd watch crossfit.
There's no way Brian is going to ban it. See Loz's comment further down the thread, Jerking has always been allowed in Strongman and there's no appetite amongst athletes or promotors to change that, it's just a small minority of fans that are bothered by it. Brian is going to want a great show with the strongmen performing to the best of their ability, so he's not going to suddenly handicap Hooper, Lucas Hatton, Oleksii and Pavlo for no good reason.
I don’t know if you’ve competed in strongman but I can promise you jerking awkward implements and completing medleys with appropriately chosen weights takes tons of static strength. An event you can finish in sub 90 seconds is nowhere near CrossFit
Where😂 is hafthor
Do no strongmen have children? They never ever mention them….after every event. 😂
No time limit but let’s not be silly.
Let’s give Bernard Langer a call and tell him he can have another go at the putt he missed at the Ryder Cup eh.
But man is he a strong muthafu…
I'm glad the strongmen were allowed multiple attempts because we got to see the best out of them. Andy Flynn and Hooper both had the bar come away from them and got it on a second attempt, Pavlo got dizzy but then got it on the second attempt. The rules are what they are for everyone, and I don't know why people are complaining or comparing Strongman to Golf.
@@Adamrawlifting123Nobody complained about second attempts, or third attempts…or fourth attempts, the issue is the 5 minute break. And the disparity created in the scoreboard.
Listen, mate, you don’t have to agree. I don’t mind. If that’s what you are happy with then that’s great. Crack on.
@@misterc5783 and again it was in the rules that athletes could have a longer break if they were going for the world record. At least we didn't have to wait for over half an hour like we did for Eddies 500kg eh.
@@Adamrawlifting123 Like I said, mate, crack on if that’s fine by you. No big deal. Just opinions about integrity.
@@misterc5783 Out of curiosity, how much money have you given Giants Live to watch any event? The people who paid for tickets -- selling out Royal Albert Hall -- want to see world records. Organizers are going to set rules that maximizes the chance they happen. My guess is that you're complaining about free entertainment. Well, the athletes and the promoters need to eat. They are going to care more about the opinions of people who financially support the sport.
