    Another brilliant episode, I'm sorry if this had been asked a million times before but what do you do with the scrap you are left with likes of from the skiving process and the cutting out of the pattern and trimming off the sole, do you do anything with these scraps of leather from the building of the footwear. But honestly love the channel thanks for sharing this with us.

    I think they may be the best made, but not necessarily the toughest. Notably, Main gun rounds weigh between 65 and 80 lb each. Road wheels are 95-105 lb each. There's no toe cap or heel cap. These would be awesome for modern dress wear, but I wouldn't wear them on the tank. Awesome boots for senior officers and NCOs who spend their time off of the tanks.

    it says in the description the heel stack is 3/4 to 1 inch but when building a boot with a block heel it only gives option of 3/8 to 1/2? and i thought the legendary Arche support is with the logger heel , not the block heel?

    • @alecnichols33
      @alecnichols33 Před rokem +2

      In the description it is taking about the sole stack not the heel stack. So up by the ball and toes of your foot is 3/4 to 1 inch. The actual heel is a 3/8 to 1/2 inch heel and it is not the taller arch support. That is a hnw last on that boot not the 55 or 67. That’s why it has a shorter heel and a block heel.

    I need to understand something. If the leather is nailed into the last to shape and hold it down, and they never take said nails out of the heal, how the hell is there not nails sticking into the space your feet go?

    • @chrismccloy9824
      @chrismccloy9824 Před 11 měsíci

      And im not speaking of them building up the sole and arch support im talking right after their done sowing the upper and lower together and start shoving inch long tacs into the heal straight into the last to shape it.

    • @cfzippo
      @cfzippo Před 6 měsíci

      Hook nail. the anvil underneath bends the nail before it comes through to hold. Then you see they’re putting a leather sock protector in over the top of the insole to cover any of the nails that come through a bit.

    Why do y'all put that die on the midsole before putting the glue on? I've seen you do it a lot on you're other boots but i never figured out why.

    • @sirapple2406
      @sirapple2406 Před rokem +4

      That part of the midsole can be seen when the boot is done and to make sure it fits in with the rest of the boot they dye it. And the reason as to why they dye it before putting it on is as to not get any dye one the boot itself, which can cause a stain.

    • @leemcneese6760
      @leemcneese6760 Před rokem +1

      Yes, but it doesn’t affect anything. I’ve been wearing mine for two years walking mostly on concrete and gravel (construction) and the uppers still look brand new after a quick clean and oil. No loose stitches, cracks, creases, etc.

    Tanker boots are for people that drive tanks? If that's the case, the boot appears to have too many straps, which can be caught into things.
    But I love the quality.... whatever is the purpose.. not sure

      @Silent-sm3lq Před rokem +1

      Lol have you ever seen tanker boots?

    • @MikTara
      @MikTara Před rokem

      @Silent no, never... but some folks are driving tanks in the boots that don't have straps or laces... they are just much higher above the ankle, though... alike riding boots.
      But I like these as well, the concept appears to be sound.

    • @oliverpasztor788
      @oliverpasztor788 Před rokem +2

      @@MikTara the starps are much less likely to get caught on things than laces. American tankers usually wear boots similar in design to the one in the video. Here in Europe we tend to wear normal laced boots same as non-armoured units, but I'm investing in a pair of these, because I wear those out pretty quickly.

    Looks okay but not for 700, I bet they don't last even half as long as the Corcoran originals either. Maybe be reasonable with the cost and people who actually know what a Tanker Boot is will buy them, but for now I'll stick to the 200 I need for the originals

    • @oliverpasztor788
      @oliverpasztor788 Před rokem +1

      Lol Corcoran have nothing on this in terms on build quality and durability. This is made out of 7-8oz full grain leather while the coyote and sand Corcorans are suede, which is much thinner and has a looser fiber structure. Nick's boots are also resoleable and rebuildable, the Corcorans are done once they wear out.
